Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

After a year it's 50 bucks. At least, that is what I have had to pay in the past.

In instances with the Verizon insurance, they do give you a new one right there, but it's refurbrished (which sucks if it's a manufactuers fault, and you have had the phone for only a few months), and it can have physical problems. When I did this for my original Droid, there were a few keys that were peeling up on it. =/

I have a higher chance of breaking my phone than anything. I usually have good luck with phones, but my only concern is dropping it and it ceasing to function.

but if you send your phone back to get it repaired aren't they refurbishing it? and with verizon it usually doesn't matter as far as wear goes, but the phone can show no signs of abuse. And insurance isn't required for warranty swaps, its free. you don't have to pay for it. And if you do have insurance you can extend the warranty for 2 years (cost a little more than standard insurance)

It depends. Most of the time in cases of damage, your phone will get junked out and will get replaced with a brand new one from our stock. I don't consider it refurbished when you get your phone repaired, because it's still your phone, you know?

When I think refurbished, I think of someone else's phone they dropped in a toilet, took the working parts of it, combined that with the working parts of another phone, and there you are. Frankenstein-phone >.>

Aye, it's not needed for anything before the first year. After the first year though if you don't have it, you are on your own.

As I said, it really is different for each person. Every single person will go with one that fits their needs better. I know I work for Best Buy and should tell you all to get our Protection because it's ours, but if it's not the perfect fit for you and doesn't meet your needs, then the verizon insurance is an option we offer as well :)

I'm pretty sure when Verizon refurbishes phones they replace whats broken or defective with new parts, just like they would if you send your phone off to get repaired. what if they used toilet parts to repair your phone! Don't get me wrong, I don't hate best buy or anything(bought my laptop there) but I don't see any benifit in BB black tie that verizon doesn't already do for free or for a cheaper monthly price

Quick question:

I just got off the phone with my local Best Buy concerning my pre-order. I'm # 19, and they said that so far they've only received 12 :(. The rep did say, however, that if more came in today then they would call me up (provided there were at least 7 additional). Are shipments the day before launch a common occurrence or are my hopes of receiving an X tomorrow about to be smashed?

This would be true if the phone could be fixed. 80 percent of the phones that go out for repair are junked out though. And if we don't carry the phone anymore, you get a choice of your new phone, free. We also have a no lemon policy for warranty repairs as well, meaning you won't be stuck with that EnV touch having the same problems for two years ;)

We also have the option of getting it paid in full for the two years, like anything else you would get at best buy, which makes it cheaper monthty than the Verizon plan. Also, you get Reward zone points for it, and if you are really good with your phone and don't use it for the two years, you will get a good maintainence reward which will give you reward zone points double of what you paid for the plan.

Also, only two claim limits per year, ours is infinite. Not saying you should be breaking your phone more than twice a year...but yeah.

Also covers power surge.

There are some advantages in there :)

But, like I said, it's not for everyone. Some people need lost or stolen protection. Some people don't have backup phones.

Not to say it's perfect, but to say it doesn't do anything more than the Verizon insurance is not correct.

I've had both, and I like the Best Buy one better (I also got it before I started working there), but I see the appeal in both plans :)

They most likely will come in today. Usually we get some on Monday and some on Wednesday.

I'm hoping this not only for you, but for my store too =/

So, I have my 50 dollar gift card that I can apply towards the X.....it's just 150 I have to fork over if I use the card, correct? Do I pay the activation fee tomorrow or is that on the first bill?
If you're in cali, expect to pay another 50 for tax.

Just got my call about my preorder no appointments are being made from the BB I went to. She stated simply that come in at 9:30 (opening) or anytime after and my phone will already be set aside. From what she told me they have more phones in then preorders so if your in the Tampa, FL area you may be in luck. Thought I would just share that information with anyone in my area. Enjoy and good luck to all tomorrow on obtaining the X! Also thanks alot to the BB guys who have been extremely helpful with answering any and all questions on their own personal time!!!

I just called my local best buy and they haven't received any DXs will every best buy have them tommorrow?

Yes, the release date is the 15th so we are suspose to have them in stock barring any type of natural disaster.

It's not unusual to get them wednesday night though.

lol, I asked this question too

Best BuY Mobile. Seems kind of weird, but I don't question the abbreviation gods.

Yeah it doesn't make sense, but its BB, I've learned that a lot of things don't make sense lol. They have a million freaking acronym's that we have to remember.
