Root Best kernel for Myn's RLS4??

Well Kings started acting up. For some reason my 3g connection kept disconnecting. Then I kept getting random FC Messages. Back to NA no havs.

Since it's recommended to wipe battery stats after flashing a new kernel, does everyone also recalibrate their battery everytime after and with what method? Fully charge, run down to zero, the full charge again? Do you also do what of the top off methods like fully charging while on, then powering off and doing some sort of charging while off with plugging/unplugging?

Seems like a long and aggravating process which is why I'm only on the 5th kernel (which is back to HTC #17) and don't feel like doing all that again.

After making the change to Myns rom from Fresh i noticed i was getting horrible battery life from the stock #17 kernal so I decided to try the NA kernal that myn recommended and noticed slightly better battery life. I wasnt satisfied with it so i decided to copy Mr. Ed's set up and was amazed... Yesterday i had 17:59:14 up time with 4:00:13 awake time by the time i went to sleep with 8% still remaining.

interesting note....

netarchy 4.2 cfs no havs and myn's has been the fisrtt kernel/sense rom combo that I have been able to max overclock out at 1290...and it's stable

been running for 12 hours no reboots etc.

:D

Where can I download this Kernel? I don't see it listed.

None of the 4.2 kernels are available now since 4.2.1 was released. I really doubt you'd see much of a difference between 4.2 cfs nohavs and 4.2.1 cfs nohavs. If you really want it that badly, though, I do happen to have it somewhere.

Thanks, but I will try out 4.2.1.

When using SetCPU, do you leave it on smartass or on demand?

Thanks.

I am just trying to find the right combination because so far, I haven't had the best battery life.

I hear you... It seems like this last week has been a big experiment trying to get the best battery life out of my phone.

What i did this last time is, Wiped cache/dalvik cache, installed the Netarchy with no havs kernal, charged my battery all the way and did a battery stats wipe, and then installed setcpu.

On top of that i monitored what was using up my battery with Spare parts and system panel...if i caught a program that was up to no good i would either uninstall it or freeze it with titanium backup.

So far the NA no havs has been working the best for me. I haven't charged my phone since 12pm with heavy use and I'm at 39%. I have my min/Max CPU set to 245/1152 and a screen off profile set for 245/245. Love this setup. Thanks for all help guys!

Glad it's working for you!

Sorry guys..not ignoring everyone, I have been organizing two years worth of haphazardly stored music, pictures and files on the new laptop

I'm currently trying netarchy 4.2.1. cfs less aggressive w/ havs w/ no profiles set in setCPU, and I've got to say Mr. Ed.....I'm getting better battery life w/ this kernel. I have 31 hours unplugged and I'm at 49% battery still w/ juice plotter saying I have about 18 hours left. Have you tried this kernel at all?

Sounds like i might have to give that one a try...

LoL! Do you have an external hard drive?? Makes life a whole easier in those situations. :D

The issue is not that I don't have one...it's that I have six. I have had major issues with the previous laptop. Two years old and Best Buy black tie had worked on it five times. Each time I took it in I grabbed whichever hard drive was closets and threw everything on it.

They finally replaced it..and now I am consolidating everything onto the new laptop (which rocks...cost me $30 yay blacktie) and creating two dedicated backup locations

I am glad everyone is enjoying netarchy's kernel and Mynn's. Guys don't forget..when you find something you enjoy...be sure to support that developer with something! There isn't a minimum donation to show these guys a little appreciation for what they do. No, they don't require it but still...they don't have to do it either. These guys do this in their spare time and I would love to see them continue to do it!

Do the kernels contain the cell radio code? Are there certain kernels that get better signal than others?

I agree....I definitely want Devs to continue doing what they're doing.

I'm testing 4.2.1 now, no clue what ondemand vs smartass does though

Those are governors. They determine what to set your cpu frequency to, and when to do it.

Ondemand - Set the cpu frequency as high as possible when over a configurable load level, then quickly underclock when under that load level. This is based on a set polling period (i.e. check ever X ms).

Smartass - Bases decisions on what to set the load to on more factors than just load. It bases the current frequency on load, battery level, screen state (on/off), temperature, etc. It also doesn't scale up nearly as quickly as Ondemand. It attempts give you a better battery life by spending as little time as possible at higher frequencies. Also, it way underclocks when the screen is off, by keeping the max in the ~300 MHz range. When using smartass, you shouldn't use setcpu profiles. They are, at best, redundant, and could cause conflicts.

Also, netarchy 4.2.2 and 4.3 have been released since this thread was active.
