Best SMS messaging app?

I came on here looking for the best app but I think I have found one myself.
if you like me are looking for an app that doesn't involved a load of personalisation/designing etc.. and is very simple to use.
I reccommend using AndroSMS!
It allows quick reply, and looks pretty sylish, it also displays both Contact name and photo.
Although it doesn't use the thread system.. if you forget what you have been saying you can always quickly switch back to the normal messaging service.

I love androids but hate my version of android.. im using the LG IntouchMax, worst phone ever... SLOW... boring and a rubbish, un-uprgradable version of Android!

like you said 75% of what u do is texting. handcent would be my first choice for the search option... you can do a search through your text messages whereas with your stock messaging app u cant! droid x here :)

actually, i've only tried this one. however, it has not given me any guff, therefore, i keep it. flawless, though maybe not perfect.

I use "HandcentSms" and love it. You may wanna look into that? I'm sure if you google it you will find reviews, images, and probably more.

I used to use Handcent but after the last update, I found it buggy. I switched to GO SMS and I am very happy with its performance.

Handcent SMS, Chomp SMS, & GO SMS.
My personal favorite is Handcent. But try them all and pick your favorite! That's what I did.
Have fun :)

I don't know a lot about the way Handcent and GoSMS are built, but the seem to be damn near clones of eachother. All the option menus look the same, but GoSMS seems to have a few extra... I used Handcent but it screwed me when sending a pic via MMS to a group. It failed and didn't send any. I deleted it and now I use GoSMS. Although last night it seems to have missed several texts that I sent, but it may have been the beers and not GoSMS... Not sure. I like the customization of the LED and Notification tone, I also like the profiles that you can build and name. GoSMS gets my vote for now.

Oh, and the most important one, GoSMS does not have any adware or ads, where Handcent does.

Can anyone explain how to set up any of the apps mentioned so that you can see all 160 allowed characters in the input box all at once without scrolling? In my opinion this is one of the most important features of an SMS app and not one of the apps I have seen so far seem to be able to do this.

I think Nimbuzz is a wonderful Android that facilitates messaging to your friends. In addition to receiving text messages, it helps you send and receive picture plus video messages. You can even open your received files from within the app. Other notable features of Nimbuzz include Chat history, Screen notifications, Contacts search, Groups management, and Quick Scroll.

You can use andcent sms is a free sms tools for android,it full unleash the power of your phone: Full support SMS & MMS, great customize options, different style(iphone, handcent, android) and power function(search content by keyword, sms popup, speak sms &T9),

I moved from a Blackberry to a Droid about a year ago. While I love my Droid, there is one feature of the Blackberry Messenger that I miss terribly - the ability to choose multiple specific text messages and delete them. Blackberry had an option to "check" multiple messages and choose to delete them, or to delete all messages prior to a specific date. The stock Android app allows you to delete one at a time (time consuming), or all, but nothing in between.

Is there an Android messaging app that allows you to select specific multiple messages, but not all?

I have installed handcent and really like it. My only problem is that once my screen locks or it is charging it shows I have X amount of messages. I have to open the stock sms app and delete them from it for the X amount message alert to go away. Any suggestions?

Hi all

In all the SMS apps I've downloaded, and also in the stock one, the text messages are not displayed by order in a conversation.

I get a bunch of the other side's messages on the top, and under it a bunch of my messages.

I've tried to go to settings but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

what do I do?
