I like QCA since it figures out the minimum VSEL setting for your individual phone, you then enter the clock speeds that you want to use and it calculates the VSEL values. Like you said, CM7 is fast enough so I run the stock speeds (1000, 800, 600, 350) at lower than stock voltages and it really helps improve the battery life. Let me know if you need more help.

Awesome, didn't even realize that would be in rom manager! I also happened to find a website that has all the google apps but this method is much easier.

Cool, thanks. I will check it out and let you know. I think I actually used it before, but it was built into a ROM, but could be mistaken.
 
Is the GPS still broken on CM7? What else isn't functioning?

I was on Liberty 0.8 for a while and I'm looking for something new. Maybe Cm7 or APEX.
 
GPS is not broken, it's been working for quite a while now.

I think Torch is not working still, but you can apply a patch to fix that. I believe the 1% battery is now incorporated too.

720p video recording is still not working, but you can do 480p recording with a patch (maybe the patch is not needed anymore, I'm not sure).

I'm sure others will chime in with other things.
 
This may be a dumb question...on CM7 now, can I restore my nandroid of Gingerblur or is that asking for trouble?

Cool. I didn't know the GPS was working. I don't care about the video since I never use it. I have a Canon DSLR and a Flip for video. As long as I can use the camera on the X for some quick pics I'm all set. I might just have to go to CM7.

Is this the way to go?

[ROM][BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for the Droid X

1. Flash the .340 (froyo) sbf file
2. Reboot into stock recovery
3. wipe data and cache and reboot.
4. Use z4root to root your phone.
5. Place the newest nightly on your sdcard as well as razors camera/camcorder/torch fix and also google apps.
6. Install d2bootstrapper and reboot into recovery.
7. Once in clockwork recovery wipe data and cache again and install the newest nightly using the install from sdcard option. Also choose install from sdcard and choose razors fix.zip that you also placed on your sdcard.
8. Reboot the phone once finished.
9. Install gapps from rom manager and your good.
 
I am 99% sure i have isolated the reason for the bad battery issue surrounding cm4dx. When i reboot into recovery and select wipe battery stats, it is NOT wiping them. So I found an app that does it. Its called battery calibration. I charged my phone to 100% and then opened up the app and hit calibrate battery. My battery life seems to be back to what I used to get. Please try this out and let me know if it works for you all

Other people including myself have been suggesting that app since the start, should be added to the first post IMO.
 
Other than wiping Dalvik, what else do I need to watch out for when going from Nightly #26 to Nightly #34? I've the *CameraFix.zip file ready. . .

EDIT: Charged ahead and did it anyway. No problem encountered.

It may not go that quickly. We finally got a dev to submit my fixes into the cyanogenmod code review system for implementation into the nightlies. If it's approved it will go into the nightlies and we'll no longer have to flash any fix zips. You can monitor the progress of this review and approval here Gerrit Code Review

It IS wiping the battery stats. It's just not letting you know that it has done so. It is a known issue and has a fix currently being reviewed. See here Gerrit Code Review

Just to add on to what you stated...
GPS has been fixed since nightlies #3 and Network Location has been fixed since nightlies #7.

Torch still needs all in one fix zip.

1% was fixed in nightlies #33.

camera and camcorder still need all in one fix zip to work. but camcorder limited to 480p.
