Root [Boost Mobile] [GUIDE]Easy Root Method - Works w/ B10 update! 1/28/2013

The public mobile ROM is b07... the differences are small... the mms and phone apk have to be switched out between the two... and everything in /system/etc/ has to also be switched out... they also have a lot of extra crap apps and a different keyboard... don't know all of the details but I'm going off of what downthemachine reported... you'll have to talk to him to get a full rundown... but none the less he produced a bootable ROM last night for boost.... nothing obvious was broken... and like I said we couldn't test ril since it was on a test phone... and I was kinda shocked that someone tried to use my ROM and call it ICS for the public mobile phones... I can see my ROMs distinct gingerbread attributes in it... we got kinda happy at first because we really though it was ICS until we took a closer look... Lol... gonna talk to them about it later today

Thank you sir for clarifying that for me. I didn't really think the differences were that great but that's good information so we will be able to develop roms for all warp phones across all providers

I GOT IT WORKING FOR PUBLIC MOBILE!!!! this method will get you clockwork mod recovery and rooted fast
http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/490927-root-recovery-ultimate-warp-drive.html

it took a couple tries but it finally worked right after i installed the following software in this order. SOME STUFF MIGHT BE IRRELEVANT, AND IM STILL N00B AT THIS.

-ADB/SDK
get this running... google it there's lost of tutorials on it

-DRIVERS
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/92300613/zte warp x64 adb drivers if needed.zip

-phone plugged in on usb storage mode, force update drivers thru device manager and select exact location for driver to where you downloaded them. (might be the same driver but i can verify this one worked for me)

WIN 7 x64 : apparently i needed to install PDAnet for additional drivers for adb too work with 64bit.

-RESTART PC

-then do this
http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/490927-root-recovery-ultimate-warp-drive.html

warning im n00b so i cant take responsibility if you brick your phone.

Ok... so as soon as we can get this confirmed to be working... i think we can get a working B08/B08c rom for public mobile... and then everyone can begin adapting their roms for you guys to use... you guys will be up to speed with the boost phone in no time...

Well my method you would be able to do an update from SD in the settings menu

@petereven: That worked! Thanks for sharing man. :)

@downthemachine: I'll test what you're working on. If it makes it simpler for everyone, then that's wicked. :)

Can someone start a new thread for rooting the Public Mobile version of the Warp, I am happy to make this thread include the root method for you guys once it gets worked on but the discussion about public mobile is sidetracking this thread, I can make a note that this root does not currently work on public mobile, only tested on boost mobile warps.

Thank you!

Already for a tester, lets make a visible thread for them so it can come up on a Google search

Almost guaranteed he was lying to make the sale. However, as far as I'm aware, it can be done, it's just not a simple task so it hasn't yet. Or at least no one has released anything. We don't even have ICS, let alone JellyBean.

I've seen some of those funky posts on a couple of Canadian sites. If they say they can put ics on your phone, they're lieing, its actually WCS by jetx2x on this forum. A gingerbread rom

Ill be a tester for this! I have a Public mobile N860 and I have been trying to root this thing since day one over a month ago. I have tried everything including the post from Peterevan and same issue... Public mobile logo... unplug usb... pull battery... reboot....Plug in usb...try a different approach.... public mobile logo bla blah bla. lol
and I have a back up phone so gives me a reason to throw this at something if it bricks lol

Come over to the public mobile all things root, the zip is listed in the op of the stock rom thread

Just wanted to say thanks to Mr Bobo,wilm804xx,Downthemachine and Jetx2x for this information. Supper easy. You guys rock. Just one question, i`m new to this, do I have to move my apps back to the phone before I backup? Again thanks guys.

As always with any rom, only reinstall or restore user data
