Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] DroidSmith 1.7.3 Update and Full

So what's tha scoop? I tryed the mercury packs and it didn't help.

I've never been able to figure out why the earpiece is so weak, I've tried calls with stock sound drivers, I've tried with beats, beats+ALSA+xloud, and Acid but they don't affect the speaker... SimpleROM had the best sound volume out of ANY rom I've ever tried on here.

I use volume+ from a old rom icon or ctmod I think

It is a little quiet, but it has been clear on my phone. I'd love to improve upon it, but if I recall correctly this problem goes all the way back to the stock rom. Ill check with Vartan and see if this is an issue on PMI. If its not, I may be able to implement some of alliance rom to clear it up

The weak speaker and earpiece is a problem with both versions of the warp ;)

Has anyone had issues with earpiece speaker sound quality?

I don't know if it is hardware or software issue.

As far as I can tell it's both. ZTE's hardware designers blessed it with what has to be some of the cheapest speakers known to man, and then the coders gave the Warp a low sound output in the kernel itself, no doubt because of the cheap speaker.

Fail.

I read something about xloud over at xda, Do you know if that would be something we could consider?

XLoud alone won't help much. SimpleROM had a combination of XLoud, Beats, and ALSA, and with all that it pushed the phone speaker to what should've been a normal level. But SimpleROM has been removed from here unfortunately..... besides from what I know XLoud only affects notifications anyways.

As I look more into fixing the speaker volume using alsa, I become a little more concerned with trashing ear piece speakers. A mild boost in audio may do the trick for some, and not for others. I'm thinking the best way to go will be through an app on the data partition that the user can adjust to their liking, or remove if they don't want that feature. App suggestions are welcome but keep in mind I cannot integrate paid apps, and I prefer to use open source apps

@Lilbit You and dropbox don't get along, huh?

As far as Volume+ I paid for it a while ago. I found one use for it - boosting the volume in Hulu. For everything else it boosts the volume but introduces TONs of distortion. Yet I know it's possible, for instance in PowerAMP, I have a custom EQ setup, with preamp to max and don't allow clipping set. Loudest sounds my warp makes, all crystal clear. Through headphones anyway. The speaker is trash lol. But still the poweramp setup sounds better on the speaker than volume+ so you know it's possible.
