Been running since you dropped the link and I gotta hand it to you this Rom is really awesome. I also like how you have lmt without any problems. Quick question, how did you exract kernel from the base Rom, I keep trying all kinds of guides, and all I end up with is boot.Img ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was having issues too. If you aren't aware... boot img is the kernel. But if you want to extract the contents of boot img so you.can modify its contents use something like android kitchen. I could not get it to work in Windows but had no issues with ubuntu.

It should give you options to work with it from advanced option > boot img tools.

If you use a kernel that has other features in it like optimised booting or zram etc you will need to add the difference of bin files and xbin files as well as modules and init.d folders to corresponding folders and make sure in your updater script you have anything different symlinked properly so as to utilize its functions.

This is important because there may be changes in those files that are different than what you currently have, for example: if you had say a kernel with compache enabled, but want to switch to one that utilities swap or nothing, you need to get rid of scripts in those folders that do that and replace them with the ones from the original rom (sometimes devs consolidate things like init.d to one folder and so all scripts need to be placed in one folder and so on). some mods may be dependent on things like the particular version of busybox in that rom as well (multicall binaries, other abilities etc- this is why some programs often have it's own proprietary version BB, because the native ones do not have whatever it needs to run), so you want to carry that over and then update it after to see if it still does what you need it to do. The same goes for a lot of the stuff in bin and xbin. Dizzle had done a lot of stuff to data/wifi, and audio. I had to carry all of this over and play puzzles in order and edit in order to get it to work who it did from b08c in b10g with all it's updated stuff.

Then after that you need to update your buildprop to reflect what needs to be updated as well as to include what was in the old one and what is in the new one that needs to be changed. For example there were scripts in build prop for the b10g, but a lot of this stuff dizzle had put in init.d when he modded his kernel, and so conflicting or redundant scripts needed to be edited so booting didn't go haywire.

I hope that helps lol.

Linux Rocks!! All the distros, I have Ubuntu on one machine and Mint on another!!:)

I want to try mint out. I also have to see if slacker is up to date or if that distro is dead. That is what I started on. Soooo many flavors. It's like roms for your computer.

This rom is excellent, stable, fast,...
only think do not like is rc1 in thread title because I didn't find any issue:D
I thought zram would be buggy but found it is working very well on this rom.
Thanks

Thank you. just edited it to reflect what you said. I was just waiting for public confirmation that everything was working right.

Yeah, I had been told that zram can cause cache syncing issues, but this one is configured correctly and is super stable!

Thanks, that explains a lot. This Rom is by far the smoothest i have used so far. Thnx.

Really liking this, especially the hidden menu shortcut! Very good job dude.

It's kinda funny, this phone is getting older by the day but the roms just keep getting better and better. Keeps things fresh and makes me forget sometimes how far behind our hardware is from current phones. Lol.

Just got a USB cable (finally after weeks with a broken one) so TOICJ will be on its way soon for my new daily driver :D
About to backup my apps then I'm gonna flash, I'll probably have plenty of time to theme tomorrow throughout the day :

The Galaxy Prevail is still rockin on also,:D

Love your rom... its my daily driver for the moment.... I noticed you need a boot animation and crt on is not working.. but it's perfect other than that... love the app cocktail and the theme... as for the whole purple thing, it doesn't bother me but transparent would be nice too... cheers!

Thanks for pointing out CRT on. I have edited OP to reflect. I'll get around to adding on hopefully tonight or in the next couple of days.

I'm not very good with the boot animations. I'm just going to have to yank one and add it in until I can create something more suitable.

I really want to do transparency theming but none of the xml edits I try are working for me that would normally do the trick. I think b10g framework has changed to where it has to be done via framework.jar. I've been racking my head trying to figure it out. If any body has a clue how this is achieved I would appreciate the help.

One question, if I go to settings >wireless & networks>mobile networks >connection optimizer I get a force close. What does this do anyway?

Well it fc's. Just kidding. It's remnant from the new optimizers bloatware that came from stock. It does nothing. It does not exist. I tested it over and over to see if there was any benefit and there was none. That is why I included the tweak panel. That one is legit. All the new optimizer does is basically a shoddy version of what juice defender does. We have lidroid for that and it doesn't consume vast amounts of battery power like juice defender. I measured juice defenders battery consumption and I took 30 percent of user app resources. So you can subtract that amount from what it saves and that would be the real saving and none of these do anything for data speed and save less battery consumption that if you manage these things yourself. I also know that the custom kernels have issues with turning back mobile data with these programs. This would not be an issue if ZTE would release source code. This is the majority of why this phone is a pain in the ass for more skilled devs (one of which I am not lol).
