Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

All Sprint modems are usable on Boost and VM, and vice versa.

Thank you for clarifying that and hopefully others will see this.

I thought it was a known fact seeing as I've got the things listed in the modem section OF A BOOST THREAD! I even made a specific post for the MK3 modem download. :rolleyes:

UPDATE-

ADDED[ROM][KitKat][4.4+][UNOFFICIAL][BeanStalk and PA Full GAPPS- "AOSP, CyanogenMod, and AOKP ROMs" SECTION.

YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE ASSERT SCRIPTS IN THE UPDATER-SCRIPT FOR IT TO FLASH ON A BOOST PHONE NO MATTER WHAT MODEM YOU ARE RUNNING.

I'LL MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO REMOVE THE ASSERT SCRIPTS THIS WEEKEND IN CASE THERE ARE SOME OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT. :D

Just a note-

I just wanted to add this because it is something that I have experienced throughout my years of running AOSP based ROMs. For some reason unknown to me, AOSP based ROMs get weaker reception than stock based. This is something that I have seen in 3 phones. The S3, Marquee, and Prevail. Sure, I know it has a lot to do with my area but it's still a fact that I every time I flash an AOSP based ROM, my reception gets weaker. I've tried switching basedbands, prls, etc in case anyone was gonna suggest that. ;)

The reason I am posting this is not to bitch. It is indeed the opposite. It is to let others out there who may notices a drop in signal when flashing an AOSP based ROM that you are not alone. It happens and has been happening to me over the past 3 years through 3 phones. Yeah it sux but it is what it is.

When it boils down to it, I could care less if I'm running AOSP , TW, stock, or whatever. If a ROM does what I need it to, I'm happy. I've even happier when I have better reception! LMAO!!!! :D

Ok, I've got you guys another tested ROM, BeanStalk. I hope you enjoy it.

I myself have left be beloved CyanogenMod and gone back to Wicked Sensations. After all..... what good is a phone without decent reception? NOTTA !! It can be the prettiest ROM you've ever seen and do flips and talk back to you and all of that. Still, what good is it if you cannot carry on a conversation in your home for more than a minute or so w/o dropping the call? Then calling the person back and talking for another minute then dropping the call again. Sorry, I just won't have it. If it means giving up my favorite ROM (CM) then so be it! I'm quite happy with Wicked Sensations.

OK, off to get some Christmas shopping taken care of. Yeah.. I'm the one who waits til the last minute. Why? Because I'm sitting in here reading about ANDROID STUFF! LMAO!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

For those who would like quick and easy access to all of the modems available, in flashable zip form, here they are (these are posted in #4 reply of this thread, I just linked them here for anyone who goes to the last page for the most recent replies instead of starting on page one)

VM and Boost (huge thanks to my man JD for posting these)

MD7 and MG2 modems

MK5 modem

Sprint (thanks to CNexus at XDA)

Sprint GS3 Flashable Radios LEN|LF9|LG2|LG8|LI3|LJ7|MB1|MC3|MD4

I made sure to mention it! Figured a set of links in close proximity to the most recent modem discussion couldn't hurt! :) I am aware of what thread I am in on this, though that isn't always the case ha ha ha! :)

Definitely doesn't hurt 1 bit bro. Still makes me a little ill that I've taken the time to create labeled sections for these things which some people just fail to take the time to do a little reading and find their answers for themselves.

I typed this in the Google search bar "modems Boost S3". This is the 1st thing that showed up in the search results.

How about that? Hmmmm..... LOL

People need to learn that Google can TRULY be their friend when they need answers. :D;)

Anybody who wants the "Halo" experience on a ROM that doesn't offer it (Cyanogen never has and probably never will just FYI, but my favorite Carbon has it; not a feature that ever really appealed to me personally, but a very cool concept regardless), use the Xposed framework and then the module XHaloFloatingWindow in conjunction with the Play Store app Floating Notifications. I hear it is an extremely close replication of what original Halo offers.
Thanks, I am using it now, I like it but it is a little different than the regular halo experience.

Thank you for clarifying that and hopefully others will see this.

Sorry about that. :(

Though in my defense, my last post earlier in this thread was made just as I was heading out the door to work. I really didn't have the time to verify that myself.

Forgive me? :D

Anyway, prepping phone to flash that 4.3 static rom. Wish me luck, right? :):rolleyes:

Finished install of StaticPower. Was initially concerned since it showed up as v1 even though I was sure I downloaded and installed v2. That said, it doesn't seem to be having the fc or other issues mentioned initially in the thread.

First impressions are... very positive. NFC works like a charm, the tethering works like a charm, and well, Android 4.3 in general just seems to be quite the sharp and aesthetically pleasing build. The provided wallpapers are simply color-orgasm. And though it is obviously lacking morphology from MOAR, the Wanam options for theming and customization are much more relevant, and allow me to do more of what I wanted to do to make it more... mine, I guess I could say.

3DMark even works too. Looks like StaticPower is a winner for me :) :D

Excellent post bro!! Great info on the ROM and what you do and don't like about it. Thank you for sharing your opinion on the StaticPower ROM with the rest of us.

I wish more people would step up and give their opinions on some of the newer ROMs that are out there now. Many just don't realize how much posts like yours help people out. ;)

By posting this info, you are truly doing the community a SOLID bro. It puts a smile on my face when a member steps up like you have done and taken the time to write a simple yet very informative post.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the StaticPower ROM. :) I have a feeling a few will end up giving this ROM a try now. :D

Peace

EDIT: About the post I made earlier........ You live, you learn, then you help share what you've learned. Also, please do not think that the post was directed specifically at you because it most definitely was not.

As for your "Forgive me?" quote.... bro, don't even sweat it man. I ain't got nothing but love for everyone in here who wants to learn and help better our community. :) Sometimes we just need a little nudge in the right direction.... MYSELF INCLUDED! :D

codezer0, see what happens when you share your honest opinion about a ROM in a short, to the point, well written post???? :D

I am now running StaticPower and am very impressed with it. I'm still setting it up and playing with Xposed Framework. Nice to have it again. Struckn and I were just talking about using it yesterday as a matter of fact. I bought XBlast tools back when I was running MOAR, getting ready to install it now. I love the huge change in the settings layout too. Nice to see something new and learn where everything is. It took me a only a few minutes to figure out where everything was but I definitely like the change!

Damn good call on a nice ROM there buddy!! Several of my other friends have mentioned how nice this ROM is. I see now why they talked so highly of it.

I'm so tired I can barley keep my eyes opened. As much as I hate to put this phone down right now, a man needs his rest. No worries though, I'll get my HONEY DO LIST taken care of 1st thing and be right back on this baby figuring it out and setting it up. Yep, I'm stoked!! LOL!!!

Again, great call on the ROM and thanks for the recommendation! You did good bro. :thumb:;)

Yea, been playing around with it so far. I've yet to test whether it can get on 4G as of yet, but I should be able to report in on that later today. I'm also hoping that because it is more like a stock rom, that it is also more miserly on my battery life. Sure, 2.5 days of use with MOAR is still fantastic, but I was closing in on getting 5 days with reasonably light use on the original 4.1.2 build (power saving enabled on both accounts, mind). :p

About the only thing that I've had it "crash" on from my testing is just trying to access the connection optimizer setting. Not that I ever wanted it off, I was just verifying that the option was accessible. Seems when that crashes it resets its modem, since the cell and wifi will reset right after. At the least, that suggests some good ability to recover from a glitch. :)

But yea, I have been very pleased with StaticPower v2 thus far.

Right now the only thing that I really have to interact with it that uses NFC was my Motorola boom earpiece, and it picked it up and paired like a charm. Once signed in with Google, It was already restoring most of the apps I had off google play. Coming from MOAR, I know it does lose the variety of lock screens and stuff like that. But that is fine, since the lock screen that comes with StaticPower seems more useful. I also like how with Xposed and Wanam, I could also enable full rotation, so that I could even have the phone physically upside-down and everything is oriented properly. :beer:

I like the fact that it feels like what the stock 4.3 should feel like, and certainly without that Knox crap. Much appreciation for the tethering still working as flawlessly as it did on MOAR. My (3)DS thanks you. :P If you guys would like, I could be persuaded to give it a review for everyone here to read (likely in its own thread, but yea).

I'm running mk5 with PRL version 31104. I'm still running my 4.1.2 android version :) LOL I'm satisfy

I'm glad to see this post. I'm still running 4.1.2 myself and don't plan on even testing any 4.3 roms until after Christmas. I've been doing all of my Christmas shopping on my phone and just don't feel like it right now.

Have you noticed any difference using the MK5 modem with the MG2 firmware? Is 4G any faster? Mine seems to be slowing down lately and only averaging 5mb/s down when I used to get closer to 20 mb/s. I guess I could just try it myself but it's nice hearing someone else's opinion first. :)

EDIT: Mydian, lol!!!! You slipped a post in while I was answering codezer0. The following comment was meant for him bro. :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your call bro.
I have some news for everyone who has been having trouble changing the asserts in the AOSP based ROMs. As I had promised earlier, I just made a video showing how it's done. It's about 300mb so it's gonna take a little while to upload. Still, I'm a man of my word and I said I'd make it so I did.
It's really actually funny once I sat back and looked at it. In the section I typed up, I left the letter "A" out of extract... along with a few other goofy things. I had fun doing it and it'll help some people out and that's really all that matters. A film maker I am not. Sharing information, I can do. Pretty sure you guys'll getta kick outta the video. LOL!!! :D
EDIT: Just FYI, I went ahead and switched back to Wicked Sensations. Static is an awesome ROM but just being honest, It has too much that I just won't ever use. I'm a simple kinda guy. Well, maybe not if you actually saw what all I had set up on my phone but still, there are things in those ROMs that I just won't use. HALO, PIE and all that stuff isn't for me. Maybe one day down the road I'll use them but at this point in time, I'm happy with what I'm running. I still like trying all the new ROMs that people write up nice comments on. I like to see what they are all excited about. Static is one bad ass ROM. No doubt about it. I love the U/I too. Man it's nice!! I look forward to Wicked updating. They're working on it as we speak.
To codezer0, thanks again for a great write up on the ROM. It was good enough to make me want to flash it. It was good enough for me to make a few backups too. LOL!!!
Welp, time for me to get off here for a bit and flash a theme. Think I'm gonna go with the Gurple. Havne't tried that 1 yet. Gonna try a new kernel too. I've been very imprsessed with the DKP kernel the past few ROMs I've ran it one. Matter of fact, it's flashing right now. Gonna crank up Trickster and see what's up.
Thanks again to everyone in here who takes the time to share what you've learned. :)
Update has been updated below!!! Lol!!!!
Look though the posts below to find the new video tutorial i made it to show you how to remove the asserts on your own. :-)
dropbox shut this link and a bunch of my others down today so bite me dropdox!
yes 4g lte works very good for me with the mk3 modem
Thanks to Biker I was able to run CM11 (12/18 nightly) with DKP kernel. Overall, it was a nice smooth experience. KitKat 4.4.2 is very nice.
I especially like the integration with Google Now and the new Phone Dialer. I had no reboots or Force Closes.
I have never been a BlueTooth User until recently. I use my cheap Walmart Rapoo headphones every day and I love them. I did have some glitches with BT that were irritating after the seamless experience I have enjoyed with MOAR 6.1. I see on XDA that others have had this problem.
I would have stayed on CM11 longer except for one thing:
SAVANNAH GA IS GETTING LTE!!
I expect Jesus will return any minute.
I used the LTE fix and it works. But, it is kind of finicky and since I am not used to LTE, I do not really know what behavior to expect. So. I switched back to MOAR 6.1 which switches between 3g, LTE. and Wi-Fi with no problem.
LTE will not be complete in my area until probably March. But I am loving it when I see it. I plan to stay with a Touchwiz ROM like MOAR until the New wears off.
Tried Moar 7.1 but it is so buggy that I will wait for a while on that one.
I did run the MOAR nag zip to turn off the 4.3 update reminder.
I will try out some AOKP Roms and stable versions of CM11 on the weekends, but it looks like I will stay with Moar as my daily driver for a while.
Also, I reluctantly switched from TWRP to Philz Recovery. I think that there might be a way to easily restore my many TWRP backups but I have not tried yet. Other than that, I am starting to like Philz. Lots of options, that require some reading but well worth it. It installed and backed up my CM11 setup and let me restore MOAR, so it is doing the job. Lol.
Waiting on a KitKat Dirty Unicorns...
Yes you can restore and create TWRP backups. Look through the advanced backup and restore, restore options, and custom backup and restore. Somewhere in one of those you'll find it. There are so many options and different ways of doing things that I still keep finding stuff in Philz. I noticed earlier that if you do a custom backup you can backup the modem with the nandroid. That's neat if you like a modem with a particular rom. :)
Crap . Just got notified that Drop Box has suspended my account due to excessive downloads. That bites. 2nd time in 2 months. :-\
