My apologies for the thread necro but in this thread where it says to replace the Bootanimation.zip in /system/media/, shouldn't that be /system/bin/ ?
I just want to make sure before I do the replacement. There is no 'bootanimation.zip. in /system/media/ but I did find one in /system/bin/

My system/media is empty so I'm not sure about how to go about replacing the bootanimation.zip. If there is no bootanimation.zip in my /system/media/ should I simply put the zip in this directory or will this cause issues?

Your bootanimation.zip may be located at
/data/local/
If one is there, it will over ride one in /system/media
/data/local/
If one is there, it will over ride one in /system/media
