Root Bugless Beast 0.7.6 released

I just did my first root using video guides which had me installing Adams ROM. I would like this newest version of Bugless Beast. I found his link, but what are my steps. Is it the same? Do I just transfer over update.zip and do the same thing, or do I need to do more steps? The thread was a little overwhelming...

If you are running any 2.0.1 ROM you can install the update.zip file (just put that file in the root directory of your SD Card). You will not lose any data with the update.zip file. If you have a 2.1 ROM, you need to back up apps cause the Nandroid backup will erase your files.

That make sense?

Ya I figured that's all I had to do.. then I'll just download "7.6" from the other forums thread and do the same process? And what about all this "patcher" business?

You got it. I would do a Nandroid backup first just in case.

Edit, I forgot the Patcher question. I don't use the patches. You can remove Pete's custom Smoked Glass Theme and go with stock, get the 2.0 milestone lock screen...why?...I don't know why you would want that...

Just stick with the update file.

Did Pete add t3hSteve's kernel patches for the keyboard and auto-brightness?

Confirmed by Pete - those updates are included.

Loaded this ROM, and it seems to be a good one, no issues found.

Pete continues to roll some of the best ROMs out there...

This is a tough call between this and Sholes 2.0.5

Both are about the same speed @ 1.2GHz, getting ~175-180ms in the SetCPU bench with all my apps loaded.

Both are very stable and very fast.

I need to run this a little more to see how the battery life is. But so far, it's looking pretty good.

Not sure if its just my phone but when I set my setcpu profile for charging to 250mhz I noticed that when charging, the lowest I go is 600mhz. And yes I selected autodetect, but wondering if it could be the kernel he's using?

ugh, stuck in a constant crash/reboot cycle at 1200 MHz. Need to get a stable boot-up so I can drop it back to 1GHz

EDIT: okay, got that done. then when I turned the phone off to reinsert the SD card, it took over 5 minutes to boot up. 7.5 was very stable as far as boot up is concerned... this worries me.

DLed 7.6 and I've had a couple random restarts thus far. I've OCed to 1.2ghz (I couldn't help...I had to, lol). I'm going to give it some time to see if it that'll continue or if it's just not stable for me. 7.5 never broke a sweat at 1ghz.

I have 7.5, but I'm tempted to go to 7.6. Mine's currently at 1ghz, and I don't really plan to go to 1.2. I don't feel that adventurous.

If you don't plan to go over 1ghz, which can be done in 7.5, is it worth going to 7.6 right now?

Figures--I just decided to root yesterday, and installed 7.5 yesterday afternoon. Currently set to run at 800MHz, tried 1GHz and the back of the phone got pretty warm (or so it seemed to me). Is it worth doing the upgrade to 7.6?

I'm in the same boat with running at 1200. I dropped it down to 1100 and am running fine. As far as the boot goes, I am booting just as quicklly as .7.5, perhaps a little faster..

The t3hSteve kernel patches that are in it are worth it, IMHO...provides much better speed/touch experience w/the keyboard, and fixes auto-brightness, if you use that.

I'm running at 1000, 1100 and 1200 not stable for me (on any kernel).

It is easy to upgrade to 7.6 cause all you need to do is run the update.zip file. All of your files and settings will not change. Always make a Nandroid backup first...but you shouldn't have any issues and it will take you 5 minutes (if that).

Stable @1100, heat doesn't seem to be an issue. Keyboard change in the new kernel is absolutely spectacular, makes the touch screen keyboard a dream to type on. Everything is faster than hell. I can't believe how much better this phone just keeps getting. It's unbelievable. 9.238 MFlops in my last linpack test.

Hi All,

So I installed 0.7.6 last night, had a few issues so far. First off, when charging the processor only clocked down to 600mhz, even though I had it set to 500mhz (I'm running at 800mhz by default).

I also had one reboot today while using the LOL Cat application, which didn't seem to have an issue with 0.7.5. Should I reflash to 0.7.5, or give it another chance?

Thanks for any advice.

One thing I've done, is I set a bookmark to the bugless beast thread, so if there's a new update I can download it straight to the phone (even on 3G it doesn't take long to dl a 70MB file), then use astro to move it from /downloads to the root of the sdcard.

PC-less upgrading :D

First of all, as a lurker/noob, thank you everyone for asking all the questions i had and thanks to all those that answered the questions. I finally rooted last night using the method posted by Kirch21. This was easy and I am upset i didnt do it sooner. I chose bb 0.7.6 because everyone raves about 7.5 and i figure this can only be better, ?

Ok, so my concerns are.... Gallery force closes everytime i open it and the boot time seems to be slow. After i see my lock screen it is still 45-120 seconds until any widgets show data.

Is there anything I did wrong or are these just minor tweaks needed in the ROM?

Thanks everyone for all the info...

0.7.6 is weirding out on me too, but it might actually be the OC setting - get SetCPU and see if reducing the clock on your phone from 1200 to 1100 makes a difference - it sure seems to for me, 1200 seems massively unstable, whereas 10 is not.

Can't get any videos to play in the youtube app...ones that played on 8.7 will start and then freeze after a few seconds on 7.6.

anyone else?
