Building a new Gallery app, looking for input

Hey guys, I've tried many gallery apps out there, the stock one etc...
I gotta tell you i've been pretty dissappointed for a couple of reasons...

1) I hate choppy loading while scrolling. Better devices have more memory so i'd rather let it wait a second longer, and load everything at once in that folder.

2) Too many folders full of crap, and ads from other apps. I don't want to show anything by default unless it's from your camera, other folders can be added manually.

3) It needs to have a private pictures section

4) pictures that can't be loaded are to be moved to an unreadable folder in case a pc can open it or deleted.

5) Extremely simple and easy to navigate interface.

What are your thoughts guys? Anything you find pretty annoying, or just don't see in other gallery apps. I'm trying to keep it simple and light, and a reasonable price point.

I say dont reinvent the wheel ;)

I'm not trying to :) If there was an app better than quikpic I'd be using it already... If you know of a better one lemme known.

the stock gallery is pretty unusable for me, and 3d for nothing except wsting battery lol...

quikpic is fast, but shows you ALL the folders with photos on your sdcard.. that means like 20 folders that some 3rd party apps created for ads show up. I've yet to find a quick way to exclude them easily.

I just don't like their polish..

.nomedia files are amazing for that

Hey man can you make a music player that lets you skip songs by long pressing the volume button. Long press up skips fwd and long press back lets you go back. Regular press still control volume. As long as a mp3 player does this I'm good cause I hate pulling it out my pocket and turning on screen just to skip a song.

Interesting idea, but still requires action on my part by default. If i installed a new app for example, and it downloads ads to a new folder, i would have a new folder in any regular gallery by default and i'd have to create that again by hand.

I'm just gonna show /sdcard/DSCIM by default, and maybe a few regular camera app default locaitons, if you want other folders then i'd let the users pick other file locations.

Already got a working prototype :)

just out of curiosity how are you playing your music? with headphones, speakerphone, in the car, via bluetooth?

I get this functionality in my car just by using a bluetooth fm transmitter, and just use the little wireless remote to forward tracks system wide, like pandora etc...

question, this isnt aimed at you or your apps just in general really. But why buy a smart phone only to make it bla n plain like a non-smart phone???

When I had a smart phone with sub 1Ghz cpu everyone wanted oc etc etc etc and now every wants to dumb it down??? doesnt make sense to me lol.

I understand wanting better battery life, but I for one dont wanna dumb my device down to get it. Get what I am saying?
