Root Building CM 10.1 (JB 4.22) from source for Motion

Finally! After almost a week of studying and watching people make their build, I'm ready to begin making my own :D

So I'm testing this for the first time via Johnny's build..

It's.. Amazing..

I recently got my nexus 4 so I have a spare motion if you need anything tested just pm me..

I actually have a question about the opposite, if you've flashed to an lte capable baseband on the nexus 4, can you try putting in your metro sim and see if it will connect to metro's lte with it in lte only mode?

I will try once my other nexus 4 gets back but I do know when you put the Sim in the n4 it says metro that's all I've tried so far soon as my other gets back will post results

Awesome. If it works with the metro sim in the N4 I'll definitely buy one, I use my phone for data only like 99% of the time so if I can keep metro's lte (tmobile's network isn't too great around my house/work), and have a nexus 4, that'd be awesome. I'd just keep the motion in NV mode for voice/text and the nexus for lte data.

oh, and if it does connect to metro's network but doesn't actually connect to data, you need to go to settings>more>mobile networks>access point names>add>name can be anything, apn use internet.metropcs, then save and select it.

There's a lot more to the APN settings than that.

I threw my sim in an unlocked at&t one x,I have no problem connecting to T-Mobile lte (1700mhz) with a T-Mobile sim but with a metro sim it shows metro in the network list (actually shows 311660) but when I try to select it a message pops up saying your sim does not allow connection to this network,I'm guessing its because metro checks imei along with the sim id. fwiw it did show my correct phone number and iccid in settings on the one x. I'm gonna try the T-Mobile sim in the motion on lte only mode once I remember to flash it back to stock,it shows my phone number and can read my texts off the sim,we just can't put it in gsm mode,I'm thinking lte should work though,so the phone is kinda future proof as long as you don't mind using VoIP apps for voice, and with my average latency being 19ms I doubt that'd be a problem.

So....can you get any kind of connection to T-Mobile??

So....can you get any kind of connection to T-Mobile??

It connects to tmobile lte without problems if you go in the lg service menu and turn off network lock then lte configuration>apn settings and add an apn with epc.tmobile.com for the apn and anything as the name. Its a lot more inconsistant Than my one x though, over 10 Tests it was bouncing between like 4mbps and 18mbps,usually in the low range, where as on my one x it averages 20mbps both ways and is pretty consistant.

not sure why the post I just typed out on the motion didn't show up... anyway, yes it connects to tmobile lte if you disable network lock in the lg service menu then in lte configuration set up a T-Mobile APN,I used epc.tmobile.com but any of the others will work too. the motion's radio seems a lot more inconsistent than my one x though,it didn't see lte in some areas where the one x does, and the speeds were lower, motion was getting between 4 and 17mbps with the average being on the low end,one x in consistently between 19 and 24mbps in the same spot. the motion will not do gsm voice/data so you're stuck with CDMA voice for now,the soc is capable of gsm we just need to figure out how to enable it,it will use the same antennas lte uses.
...and now it showed up after I submitted this one,go figure

Maybe this has been covered, and i apologize if it has, but i have noticed that i cannot install anything from the play store, i get a error -110, and an error -25 for updates.

Also usb protocol in build prop show mtp, adb. But i cannot get adb to work at all.

Seems the folders get tweaked out pretty bad resulting in not able to find files for backups in cwm.

I have zero volume during calls

Bluetooth wont turn on.

Is there any fix for these issues?

I was able to get superuser permissions working well though.

I will continue to play with build.prop settings, but i fear the real fixes are somewhere much deeper.

Otherwise my build is working pretty well.

Thanks HK, good stuff, and thanks for teaching me something!!!

It's the best place to be for the newest stuff to test (when there is stuff to test).

I'll be honest though, if you want to test stuff there, you gotta at least know how to use adb :p
