Root Building CM 10.1 (JB 4.22) from source for Motion

The build finally finished after I fell asleep. Gonna flash it later and try it out:)

it usually take me 45 - 50 minutes to do a build, from a clobbered state

my system specs are, AMD 8 core cpu, 16 GB, 3 tb hdd

I put that computer together specifically to do builds

:D holy crap it worked. and sensors worked too. so i must have downloaded that right after you updated it. :D

i built it on an dual core laptop with 4gb ram and 500gb hdd so it took forever and a day.

It sucks to watch people learning and even making their own builds already.
While I've spend the last whole time since I get home from school watching videos on how to do things :p

How long did it take.and how fast are the cpus?
I would like to try this myself.but my housing status is (camping) so its hard to get a place to setup with electricity and wifi.
I have a dell with duocore 1.5ghz and 4 gig of ram

Hi all

new commit

https://github.com/hroark13/device_lge_l0/commit/3d2c6f0cab969efdbab72486148e99684cdf0591

did not really fix anything, just doing some cleaning up

please note that I updated the instructions, you no longer have to backup and delete the hardware/qcom/camera folder

so you can restore that folder, camera does not work yet, but having that folder there no longer kills the build, this is mainly because i changed the header files in the include folder

hK

what exactly does that folder make, there is only one android.mk file in it and nothing else, it does not use any libraries. I do not think that it does anything to be honest with you

well, it tells Surfaceflinger to build a stub. basicly to not build but still exist. its mainly for msm7x30 cuz 4.2 dropped most 7x30 support. so it may not matter much on 8960

well i made a new build today. didn't change much. just updated candoopa's changes to the github and restored camera folder and added pg's inverted mms. about to test it out and see what happens. it only took about 12 minutes to make the second build. i'm gonna need a good place eventually to upload my builds for others to test. any suggestions.

Dropbox is always a good place to store.

mediafire

eh, f*&* 4shared too, mega is prolly the best free one, Android File Host will give dev accounts to anyone sharing stuff for android and is decent, dev-host is good, w/o a dev acct tho been told its slow, goo.im have to have a dev acct.

dev-host & goo.im you have to be a recognized dev on xda and/or rootzwiki to get a dev account.

Any site that requires registering shouldnt be used, as well as any sites that spam you with a shyt ton of ads and/popups.

since installing apps doesn't work at this moment i decided to try to add some apps as system apps. my build now has facebook home as system app and it works fine.
i'm going to focus my efforts on getting app installs to work. that alone would make this a usable build.

yea like that it might not be bad... but dropbox gbox anybox is better lol

but the issues with cm10.1 might lay more in the inits in the cm10.tar than the rom it self. alot of things changed in 4.2.2.

i got bored and decided to throw some apk's in the system/app folder and flash cm10.1. i noticed that i could download apk's using aptoide but they won't install. but the files download . i can browse using root explorer and find the file. i noticed there is a data folder but it's empty. but i haven't tried restoring a /data backup yet maybe i'll do that next. and for some odd reason google can download and install a wallpaper from a picture i took outside my house and had on 4-28 rom and install it when i tell it to restore my settings etc.. but it can't install anything else. oh except my contacts. anyway the point is: it can write to parts of sd just not /data

I don't believe this has been said yet but youtube when installed as a system app will not show any picture. This is obviously a software issue but if i had to guess it would be the drivers for the S4 causing the problem.

Umm, this ROM has many problems.....;)

Well they probably know that, I think they're just giving feedback on what's working or not. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Precisely, i just wanted to point that issue out so that candoopa, bobzhome, PG and sammy could know what to work on for us less-than-development savvy people could have a ROM as great as the current CM10.

Also to add to my earlier post when you disable hardware overlays in development options, YouTube plays just fine.

So the current bug that i know of are screen rotation(in the released build which has been fixed in the commit), no in-call volume and apps won't install. Which considering that it is a first build, that is not bad at all.

Keep up the great work guys!
