Root Camera isn't working after rooting

OK, well the camera works...but within a handful of images taken, the phone reboots itself.

I used Revolutionary and Amon Ra for backup...but I have a question about recovery. What exactly is recovered? I assume only the phone memory is affected by Recovery right? Is the SD card a part of Recovery? How do apps work with recovery?

I paid for Titanium Backup Pro and did a backup, and then I preceeded to delete the bloatware as specific in many places on the Internet. I made sure not to delete anything that was specified as causing problems...but perhaps I went too far?

Anyway, assuming that I deleted the wrong bloatware, I did a recovery and went back and did a restore with Ti Backup, but a lot of the bloatware isn't there. Nova is gone, Sprint's Football stuff is gone, in fact, the only thing I recognize is the NASCAR sprint app. That's still here now.

So perhaps I didn't backup properly...as I can't seem to restore my phone to it's stock status immediately after the root and SU permission.

Would I need TI Backup to restore the bloatware, or should the recovery have done that? Also, what should I do now? I had planned on running stock except with SU permission. If I flash a ROM, I am done with stock, and since I can't get back to my original starting point, I see no reason why I shouldn't explore other ROMs (even though I wanted to leave this as stock).

I'll start researching this procedure now as well as looking at all the ROM options. I want 4G support, and I don't really want sense 3.0 (I use Launcher Pro right now). Is there a benefit to having Sense 3.0 if you launch with Launcher Pro?

My feeling has always been that the Sense launcher is one of the best, if not the best launcher out there. So if LauncherPro is the launcher you're going to use then I would highly recommend using an AOSP rom but that's just me. And 4G works fine with CM7

after you initially rooted, did you go into recovery and make a backup before or after you removed everything with titanium? your recovery is basically like a mirror image of your system, assuming you checked everything (system, data, cache, dalvik, wimax keys etc) in amon ra when you made your backup, so all of your apps would have been backed up as well. if you made your backup after you removed them, or you didn't backup system, then they won't get restored.

all that said, I doubt your problem is due to removing apps. it sounds like what happens to me when I try to overclock too far. you haven't overclocked with setcpu or changed your kernel or anything yet, right?

you should be able to get everything you backed up with titanium back up back. click backup/restore at the top of the screen, then menu --> batch and scroll down to restore all missing apps + all system data.

there are a number of roms that provide a stock feel while adding benefits like bloat removal, system optimization, speed and battery life. My personal favorite right now is tommy tomatoe's classic/harmony. I've gone through every sense 3 rom out and I'd totally forgotten how fast and responsive my phone can be when it's not running everything from the sd card and aggressively killing apps to keep memory free for a gigantic launcher.

there is no reason to use a sense 3 rom if you're planning to use launcher pro. in fact, I've deleted sense from tommy's rom and use go launcher exclusively

ok first lets get some terminology corrected. your recovery is where the magic happens. it is what you use to flash roms, mods, themes among other things. it is used to make backup called a nandroid backup. nandroid backups are a complete snapshot of your phone. so all of your settings and data are backed up. most recoveries will ask you exactly what you want to back up.

so i'm a little confused as to what you did. did you make a nandroid backup in recovery? if you made one right after you rooted then you can just restore that one.

also i would use titanium backup to freeze bloatware first to make sure that your rom will be stable. it does not delete it, but it will make it so that it does not run or show up in your app drawer. once you know that everything is stable you can then delete it.

another thing you can do is to just flash a custom rom. most roms have all of the bloatware removed. i would start out with mikg2.61. it is sense 2.1 and sense 3.0 cooked in, but still stock. it runs reall smooth and fast. you can get it in the rom kernel/sticky.

When I rooted, I didn't get the option to opt out of installing the CM recovery that's bundled with Revolutionary. It just installed that one. So I made a backup using the CM recovery. Then I switched to Amon RA and did another backup. This was all prior to me changing anything.

What is the purpose for Titanium Backup? If the nandroid saves everything, and I am not flashing a new ROM, then I don't need what Titanium gives me do I? So if I had made any changes before running the Titanium Backup, I can recover those changes off my first Nandroid backup right?

Perhaps I restored to my first nandroid, and then did a Ti restore on top of that. Maybe I need to go back, and just do the restore, and see what I am left with. I am not 100% certain that I did the Ti Backup before I started deleting apps.

I have SetCPU installed, but I am not overclocking. I have a few profiles setup to under clock under certain instances. Could this be causing it?

As for ROMs...I am still in over my head. I get part of the picture, but another part is still fuzzy to me. I have trouble separating the ROM from its launcher. For me, the launcher is what you interact with, and that's pretty much all I care about. All the back-end stuff that happens is of no real concern to me.

Does Sense 3.0 bring anything to the table on the back-end that is appreciated? Or is it mainly liked for the updated launcher?

I am off to read up on the ROMs...

titanium backup is (was) good if you plan to jump from rom to rom fairly often.every time you flash a new rom, it's best to do a complete wipe, which means deleting everything in data, where apps are stored. This is not really as necessary anymore now that gingerbread includes the option to auto restore your apps (although in my experience that has been kinda hit or miss). TI is also good for when a developer pushes a crappy update and the app gets screwed up; you can restore the old version with TI.

you cannot just restore your apps through a nandroid because there is more in data then just your apps, so if you were changing roms it would get all screwed up.

also be aware that now that you have amon ra you cannot use your clockwork mod nandroid, only the one you made with amon ra.

I can almost guarantee this is the cause. if you're underclocked while using the camera, and the camera maxes out your cpu, your phone will restart. try disabling setcpu and use the camera again

no. it's liked because of the slick looking launcher and the new lockscreen. but in order to get that stuff you have to have a huge rom that was never meant to run on our tiny RAMed devises, and a rather sluggish experience.

if you're going to use launcher pro, then you should use cyanogenmod7 like suggested above. it's the basic android backend, light, fast, and everything works the way it should.
