used barnacle. no tethering.
Do you have a task killer installed? If so you will need to move Barnacle to its ignore list, and your phone must be rooted to run Barnacle.barnacle doesnt stay active for my laptop to find
quite so.are you rooted?
I had the same problem trying to connect to my friends Wiiquite so.
however, my laptop could not connect to it.
I had the same problem trying to connect to my friends Wii
Although works great with every other wifi device I have tried.
Any Ideas?
Wii's cannot connect to ad-hoc networks.
Well it sees Barnacle and then it trys and then somthing Happens. I cant remember what though. too Long since I tried.
Basically What we would like to do is find someway to use Barnacle to watch Netflix on our TV.
I mean My other friends have connected their wii's and Xbox's and ps3's through wifi.
Why cant this work I wonder. I guess I dont understand ad hoc network and what that means.
So basically your phone is broadcasting to the computer and in turn the computer is broadcasting to the Wii? Sounds like it could bottleneck possibly. especially if your trying to use Netflix or Hulu.I actually have found (somewhat) of a workaround,
Basically android wifi tether's can only make ad-hoc networks. It's a limiation within android and drivers from what i read. Regualr wifi routers make Infasturture networks by default which is why mostly everything can connect.
Now for the work around. I did this to get my wii to connect to my 3g but i didnt test any games and such. This requires you have a wlan card.
1. Connect your phone to the PC via USB tether. (PDAnet is easier to identify than easytether when using connectify)
2. Download Connectify (for windows only) and set it up.
If you correctly set it up. Your wlan card will turn into a hotspot (like a router) and it should use Infastructure by default.
Think of it like this. The phone is a modem. so you tether your phone to your PC with USB to have a wired connection. Then with connectify and the wlan it will broadcast the 3g over a wireless connection which anything can connect to. Like a router would do. As i said i didnt test any games but i was able to sucessfuly connect my Wii to the hotspot made by Connectify and my wlan card broadcasting the wireless signal. So basically your phone is broadcasting to the computer and in turn the computer is broadcasting to the Wii? Cool so theoretically it should work.Think of it like this. The phone is a modem. so you tether your phone to your PC with USB to have a wired connection.
