Root Cannot restore email settings after ROM flash

phil7784

Newly rooted EVO 4G with stock Gingerbread 2.3.3. Need help with restoring my email (POP3), wireless, and bluetooth settings after flashing a new ROM. I have Titanium backup but it seems to only want to backup rather than restore when I reinstall it after ROM flashing. The ROMs work fine but I can't seem to get my email working again when I have to set it up manually. Internet is fine. In Titanium I don't know which files/apps to try to restore. Everything is backed up. Please help.

if you have the pro key you can do batch restores of all the app and data.

you should be able to to go to accounts and syn add a new account and add the email you need to. as far as wireless goes you should need to just turn it on and tap on your provider. bluetooth will have to re-pair the devices. Don't use bluetooth so i cant really help there. as far as Titanium backup goes. There is a tutorial somewhere I cant remember where at the moment but i'll see if i can find it and update this message with the link. Did you make a nandroid backup?

Here it is:

Thank you. Yes I have a nandroid backup. I am using the stock ROM (rooted) that came with the phone. I like Cyanogen Mod 7 (android 2.3.7) but restored to the original because of the email problem. I know I can create the email account from scratch but I can't seem to get the SMTP server info to work even though it is entered correctly.
Other problem with this phone is that I cannot get the HDMI port to work.

are you having this issue in CM7? did you install Gapps?

Can't help ya with the hdmi thing never used myne. figured i spend enough time on phone if i got that big of a screen then i would never get off this thing. :D

Pardon my ignorance but I'm not sure how to do that. Where is the data img? and do I flash it like you flash a ROM? There are many, many files/apps on the backup/restore tab of Titanium but I don't see anything re email, or data. Should I be looking on the SD card?

Im pretty sure the hdmi isnt working on most of the custom roms and kernels. But like argedion said part of the problems you may be having could be due to gapps if you havent flashed that. I would make sure you followed all the steps for flashing the rom and gapps try that then if it doesn not work try the advanced restore. In recovery goto backup & restore/ advanced restore/ restore data. When you pick advanced restore it will give you a list of your backups pick the one you want the data from it will take you to the next menu which is where you will select restore data. Hope you get it figured out good luck.

Thanks again for your help and patience. One last question: I have several versions of gapps on my SD card. Any particular one that I should use?
