Root Cant get into recovery mode on htc evo 4g android v 2.3.3

Ok may have a bit of a problem! I installed the rom but now it keeps just cycling through the boot animation. What should I do? Is the phone ruined?

also as far as sense kernels go, make sure that you flash a froyo kernel for a froyo rom and a gingerbread kernel for gingerbread rom.

with cm7 and other aosp roms i would start with the tiamat kernel. try the latest one and then work your way down the list. always give a kernel a gew dys to settle in. also you will need setcpu as well.

It is the first boot. I have been waiting a good 5-10 minutes literally. Should I pull the battery and try again or keep waiting?
 
Leave it be, first boot is always the longest.

If it hasn't booted up by 20-25 mins then it may be time to pull


Did you manually wipe and flash? What did you wipe?
 
if you could please get back to me this is really worrying me Im pretty sure my phone is done and I really cant afford a new one. Please help if. If its at all possible could we talk on some sort of chat like aim or something? I need help here. If that is possible my aim screename is rb trucking4

Do not worry, even if you have not flashed this right chances are you have not bricked your phone
 
Yes I maunally wiped and flashed. If it doesnt work within 20-25 minutes what should I do then? The guy on the video did his and it loaded up within like 2 minutes.

first boot always takes the longest as it has to build up dalvik cache. give it sometime. like rxpert says it could take 20-25 minutes. on some roms i have it go like 40 minutes. if anything as long as you can get to recovery all will be good. give it like 15 more minutes and then you can pull the battery out and then press and hold power+vol down and get into recovery.
 
What if the battery goes dead while it is trying to boot? I have the charger hooked up but it gives no indication that it is charging. Also what do i do if it never comes out of this? Should I try reinstalling the rom, what do you guys suggest?

If it doesnt come out of it, you are in what is called a bootloop. Then you just simply pull the battery boot back into recovery wipe everything except for SD card again and then just reflash

The phone doesnt not charge while booting up or while in recovery. You dont want to flash things with the battery below like 30%

What are you looking for in a custom ROM?
 
I really liked what I saw with the destroyer rom I just want something that runs smooth and is nice looking. Well last I checked the battery wasnt that high so what can I do if it does go dead during this? I cant run it of A/C power?

From the computer. Uninstall both sync and drivers. Reboot computer then install the HTC drivers.

Alright I did all that Its been about 40 minutes so i pulled the battery and wiped and reinstalled the rom. We will see what happens. So again though if the battery goes dead during this what can I do? I dont have a external charger or any extra batteries. I cant just plug it into the wall and use A/C power?
 
Alright second time was a charm! it worked now the problem I am having is the market app isnt working. Any ideas? I am really sorry for all the questions guys but I appreciate it, you have been amazing!

If the rom still doesn't boot up, pull the battery, put the the battery back in and only plug the phone in to the wall charger. Do not try and turn on!;) What until the amber light turns green, then proceed on trying again.
 
I got everything working. Second time I installed it, it booted right up but now the market app is the only thing not working. If I tap it, it just opens then immideately closes. Any Ideas on how to fix that?
 
Welcome to the world of custom ROMS :D.

You'll have to apply the gapps fix and gps fix for nearly every AOSP ROM you flash. This should have been available from wherever you downloaded the ROM.

Other fixes include going back into recovery and just wiping dalvik cache & cache and then rebooting.

Personally, thats why I stick to sense ROMS. They tend to work right "out of the box"
 
Alright I tried that, It didnt work because there was no cache or anything to clear. There is another problem I just noticed with this app and that is when texting it is black on black so I cant see what I am typing untill I hit send. Does anyone have experience with this rom? Is it any good or should I go with another one? Or just try to fix this one? If you think I should try another one I am open to suggestion but one thing I really like about this one is that when you turn the screen off it does that vintage tv style thing so if you suggest another one i request that it does that as well. Again I really appreciate all the help.

the black on black was a known issue with the destroyer rom. i do not remember if magnus ever made a fix for it or not. not sure he is developing for that rom any more. i would try cm7 or xplod if you want to try aosp roms. if you want to try a sense rom, i would recommend that you try mikg 2.60.
