Root Cant get into recovery mode on htc evo 4g android v 2.3.3

the black on black was a known issue with the destroyer rom. i do not remember if magnus ever made a fix for it or not. not sure he is developing for that rom any more. o would try cm7 or xplod if you want to try aosp roms. if you want to try a sense rom, i would recommend that you try mikg 2.60.

+1 on magnus not developing for this rom anymore. I believe he's with the 3D now;)

Deck's AOSP rom is another alternative, less bloat than CM7.

+1 on sense roms though, out of the box, like rxpert said, tends to be a good start for first time flashers of roms. But if you're going to flash a sense rom, I would tend to stay away from the 3.5 roms for now, just a few bugs that still need to be ironed out;)

Sense 3.0, Sense 2.1+3.0 or the sense 1.0 roms pretty much are stable without any issues

Alright yes you are correct the update got the market back up and running. There is another update I need to get then I will try to fix the black on black issue. As far as I know this is the cm7 rom. Thats what the file is called.

Alright everything is up and running. fixed all issues. The only thing left is it seems this rom is draining the shit out of my battery. Although that could be because I have been rebooting like crazy. If that isnt the issue though are there any fixes for that?

Alright I just want to thank everyone again. You guys have been awesome and I couldn't have done it without you! Keep up the amazing work!!

I Just had one more quick question before I go and put everything back on my phone. Now that it is routed does that mean I can switch roms without having the format the sd card and losing all my stuff?

you can switch to your hearts content now without re formatting your sd card...
you do want to back up your apps and data (titanium backup) and sync your calendar and contacts with google so those can all be restored easily... those are the things that "disappear" when you flash a new rom... as far as pics, vids, and other files on your sd card, they will remain...

Awesome, thanks!

Just make sure you backup your sd card every few weeks or so to your computer. Just Remember the fresher the backup the more you will retain. Keep your losses to a minimal. Also Not a bad idea to back it up before flashing a new rom. Just incase things go wrong.

Alright well after using this rom for a while i see that it is kinda buggy and I might want something better. I was looking into this rom [ROM] The EVO Classic v0.0.4 - Sense 1.0 Redefined - Harmony - xda-developers I think its brand new its called harmony and its sense 1.0 not gonna lie I am not really sure what that means but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I was thinking of switching but if you guys think there is a better one out there let me know. I am looking for something that runs smooth with as little bugs as possible. This destroyer rom runs smooth for the most part but it is buggy with some stuff. Like if you have allot of photos on your phone it definitely cant handle it like the stock rom could. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Also this rom seems to eat up battery a bit quicker than the stock rom. One thing I really love about this rom though that I do want in any other rom I get is the vintage tv off animation you get when you lock the screen. It does have some good animations I would just like something that is all around smoother. Input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The evo classic is based off the stock rom ( when you got the phone new it had sense 1.0 ) This has all the bloat ware removed and is as stable as it gets because it came from the rom ment for the evo.

So you would recommend this rom? Any others you think are worth checking out?
I ran the classic for 2 days no problems, My favorite and daily is Mikg2.6 Never had a problem with it either. I run it as it is no kernel change and none of the set cpu or supercharger stuff and i get about 20hrs out of the battery. But all phones are different. Mine just realy runs well on this.

do you have a link to that mikg2.6? Id like to check it out. Does it have the vintage screen animation when locking the phone? If not is there any way to add that if the rom does not do it on its own? Sorry for all the questions but as I am sure you can tell from this thread, I am very new to this.

Unfortunately we can sit here for the next month and suggest ROMS. The best thing to do really is just flash and test. Do Not Forget ALWAYS ALWAYS NANDROID before doing anything with your phone.

And as far as Battery power that is actually handled by the kernel. There are a lot of factors that go into how long a battery will last. Everything From Signal Strenth to How often facebook updates.

Ya that makes sense and I'll tell ya as luck would have it the signal strength at my house is really bad. Its at best 1 bar. I do use the wifi but I am sure the very low signal doesnt help. Well thanks for the info, I will test some different roms out.

Click the link here and in the top right corner there will be a timer then a click here to skip add click on that and the download will start. Also im in the same boat terible service at home so i keep 4g off and stay on wifi but again as argedion said what works for me may not for you. Just give it a couple days and then if it dont work for you try something else.

I use the Evo Classic and have really good battery life with it. I can get 2 days on the stock battery with agressive freedom pretty easily if I have wifi available for the majority of the time.

Yeah I used to get a real crappy signal here at home as well. Most of the time if I got one bar it was a good day. I called sprint and complained about it. They sent me to tech service which tried to get me to update my profile (Was on AOSP at time) So I explained that the Update was not going through because I had no bars(If your not getting a signal nothing is going to work duh) anyways 2 or 3 days later I got the Airave. Now I have no less than 4 bars. I can call from anywhere in my house. I use Wifi for data when I am home. (Some areas still have trouble with getting 3g data) The Wife who could care less about all the rooting and tweaking and everything else I love to do to my phone Loves the Airave. She is extremely happy that I complained to get it. She even said that if they would not have gave it to us it would have been worth the 120 for. (She thinks buying tech is wasteful)
