Captivate release

BOOYAH! Dang. Didn't get my chance to pester their FB page again tomorrow ;) Guess that means that that guy over in the XDA thread is legit then. Makes sense that some product managers get units to play with if release is only 10 days out...

Tipped yer post, btw, tsunari. Oh, & you might wanna read that XDA thread if you haven't already.

Well the date is confirmed for the 18th.
Welcome to Facebook
$199.99 on contract and $349.99 off.

$349.99 off contract? That's cheaper than the Aria. And the price will likely be even lower once on Amazon. I'm definitely getting the phone off contract. No need to commit myself for 2 years for only $150 (or less, depending on Amazon's pricing). Plus, the holiday season is expected to have a ton of amazing phones from both Android and Windows Phone 7. It'd definitely be nice to still have upgrade eligibility at that time.

I'm a happy camper.

Not sure how either AT&T or Samsung is selling this phone for $349.99 off contract. Even with most parts being in house to Samsung this is on the very low side.
Thinking it is time to buy and iPhone4 with my contract discount and then buy this off contract and make some money on the deal.

Great conversations and speculations.

Just FYI. The AT&T Samsung Captivate is getting closer and closer. Wish we could share a date, but don't hold your breath too long :)

We're going to share this thread on our Facebook Fan Page to get more people involved in the discussion. - Samsung Galaxy S | Facebook

Looks like Ambictus & maerlim win the pool :D Can't wait for lordmaxx's crotchety arse to find out there's actually a solid release date that's a scant 10 days from now...

I am shocked they are going to release it this early. That puts them number 2 on the schedule for the US carriers. What a strange place for AT&T to be with android. And within the return window for the iPhone.

This is a lot better than an August release and my present phone is really in bad shape, I just hope it lasts ten days. I hope I am wrong, but T-Mobile posted a $330 price for no contract and then changed it to $499 or $549. I don't remeber exactly. I hope the $349 no contract price is real on AT&T.

Hooray! No waiting until Sept/Oct.

I didn't see anything about rebates. I wonder if it is this price and no rebate to mess with. If not, then next thing to wonder is if preorder and instant rebate available at BestBuy or Radio Shack.

Then there will be those nattering over whether to wait for a release of good firmware/rom before purchase, given all the hullabaloo over poor GPS and Lag.

wow.... Guess it's time to get warmed up for this guy....dont mess with this any more at&t...or else I'll be forced to.....bitch about it.

Almost broke down and bought the Aria the other day because I was tired of waiting. Glad I didn't. This phone is gonna be badass...

Samsung Jack... It's been nice, but time your days are numbered.:p

ATT is emphatically reiterating that 349.99 is the no-contract price... I can't figure out how to get permalinks on fb but here are the posts:

Zac Lohrenz Is the Captivate really $350 off contract? Is it open to pre-order?
