Class action law suite for Youtube app disfunction

OH REALLY??? Its a "perk"????

Is the phone dialer app function also just a "perk"
Is the phone camera app function just a "perk"
Is the phone browser app just a "perk"
Is the phone touch screen function just a "perk"

Now you see where your logic gets big fat PWNED....

You just wrote that someone was owned and intentionally did the little internet misspelling thing.....seriously? You seriously just did that? Not to mention the fact that you did it after the absolutely most moronic comparison I have ever seen in my entire life. Congrats kid, you just reach a new level of smack **** unrecorded in our time.

That does it, I am calling Guinness and reporting this. We may very well be in the presence of a world record holder, folks. Now Napster can have something to decorate his law suite.

well i feel pretty good saying this...the ota update one hundred percent fixed my youtube app...i guess that plan went out the window pretty fast...best of luck to ya.

We are organizing a class action law suite for the failure of the Youtube app service and HTC/Verizon/Google doing nothing about it. Everyone paid for this app and function and this service interruption which is estimated to last for MONTHS will not go unpunished.

This is currenlty affecting Eris users and maybe Sprint Hero users as well.

Quit your complaining and just go to the youtube website on your phone and watch it on there... it works.. sheesh... you dont pay for youtube:D

You have to understnad that you dont understand that you PAYED for EACH and EVERY app that is on your phone. You dont understand this becuase you are not a software engineer or have any experience in developing any kind of product. So please stop living in your own reality. Its best for you to just say that you dont know (which you dont) and stay idle.

No you have to understand that if you purchased your phone with a plan and paid the lower price, more than 50% of the cost of your phone was subsidized then you were issued rebate on top of that, if you filed for it. So no you have not paid for the applications broken or working and you are not entitled to anything other than working hardware, service for phone, and a data connection with no speed promises.

Does your phone make phone calls? If the answer is yes and your phone can access 3g if available in your area then you got exactly what you paid for.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. in the phones web browser. Problem solved.

I cant believe this thread has over 100 posts. I am going to start a thread discussin a "law suite" against Caddyman and see how many posts it gets. :D

The law suites will come from the guy who runs someone over in his car becuz his $500 2009 phone can't use bluetooth the way a 2002 throw away fone did.

First of All, thanks to everyone for the entertainment value this post has provided....you cant make this stuff up.

I remember several years back, VZW had an LG phone with Bluetooth (in which they crippled as VZW does) and a class action suit was filed and VZW lost. All owners of the LG phone were notified and were then able to choose to get out of there current contract without an ETF + the could pick a new phone for with a $100 discount or receive cash ($25 I think). I think the basis was sales under false pretense the phone users could transfer files via BT, which VZW actually disabled.

In that case VZW intentionally did something to cause harm to the class and knowingly did so. Napster, do you really think that it was the intent of all parties (I dont know who is named in your suit) to intentionally disable the You Tube? Also, how does an this particular application prevent you from using the phone as advertised? I think the one thing you are forgetting is that I would believe that HTC/Google/VZW would have a responsible amount of time to correct the problem, for crying outloud the phone as been out only 2 months, and the latest update only a month....I think any jury would agree you are being unreasonable in you expectations.

But in the end as and ERIS owner if you happen to waste your time and money so that I can get a free phone or money...than let me be the first one to thank you!!!

Actually, law suites will come from building managers and realtors.

Not sure what problems you are having with your "fone" or the bluetooth located there in, but mine works as advertised. Could be your headset. Either way, just try taking a company to court because you were trying to operate a mobile device (or anything else for that matter) while driving. I highly doubt you will get very far.

Vampira, read up-thread a bit and you may get a clue. Glad to hear voice dial works for you; how privileged to be the only andriod user with such capability.

Oh how cute, you tried to be insulting to me based on my avatar. You must have felt like a big man when you came up with that line. Should I cry and go hide like a little girl now?

As for voice dialing through bluetooth, no I cannot. As I said, mine works as advertised. I can however hit the little call button and voice dial through that. I can do that while the phone is paired with a bluetooth headset as well. I can also do all of that while maintaining my own lane, not run over anyone or taking my eyes off the road. Maybe you just need more practice behind the wheel.

Also, before you try to "school" someone on their reply to your largely illiterate post, you may want to pay attention to the fact that you simply stated that a
2009 phone can't use bluetooth the way a 2002 throw away fone did.
See now, that comment doesn't mention voice dialing it all, now does it? No, it just says that you can't use bluetooth. All I did was make an assumption based off of your inability to properly use the English language and figured that it was probably user error or a crappy bluetooth headset.

See, you should never make an assumption. It only makes an ass out of you and umption.

Yes, the answer is yes. That's why God made Mydol. As for "2009 phone can't use bluetooth the way a 2002 throw away fone did."; The Eris cannot. I stand uncorrected. You started your reply with the pithy suite comment and circled the bowl from there.

Dude, you're losing and just digging a bigger hole. Either stop now or keep going for our entertainment. :)

BUT, I didn't want to get into a flame fest. My original point so ineptly stated, was that not being able to voice dial on an otherwise fabulous cellular telephonic handheld device, (fone), should not be acceptable in 2010.

Is there any Firefox plugin I can install that will auto-correct horrible grammar and spelling before displaying it on the screen?

I kinda wish HTC would give Napster his 75 cents back that he "paid" for the YouTube app just to shut him up. Good Lord, man... open your browser, go to YouTube and shut your cry hole. It's the same damn thing.

Maybe they've got bigger worries to address first besides an app malfunction that even a child could figure out how to get around.

My problem, besides youtube NOT working, is that the browser version cannot view HD video. I can't ever get it to work. Really dumb. I guess we get what we pay for.

Some complain about this person making the lawsuit but If you spent money for something expecting it to work, wouldn't you want it work? This is basic function that has to do with Google's main video streaming so making it work is money in their pockets.

Ultimately the issue will get fixed at the end of the month so I wouldn't bother suing HTC or Google or Verizon over this MINOR issue. The suit does not have merit when the problem is a technical issue that can be simply fixed. Plus, what have you lost becuase of this? Any lawyer, who isn't screwing you out of money, will say it's not a strong case unless you lost a home or an arm or someone died. Only then is it a winning case in your favor.

As for the Browser work-around that was mentioned. It took me a while to figure that out. My problem was I had Dolphin installed. When I went to m.youtube.com and clicked a video, I had three options: 1) Download 2) HTC Flash 3) Youtube.

I could Download and wait for the video to finish, then open it and it would play with the HTC Flash player and it looked like High-Quality to me.
If I chose HTC Flash, it didn't work. I only saw a circle for a few seconds then it would say YouTube in the bottom right corner.
If I chose YouTube, well you know, that didn't work either. Sorry, can't play video.

However, I kept seeing people say the Browser worked. So, I played with this a little more. I uninstalled Dolphin. Now, when I use the default, built-in, browser and click on a video, it will automatically open up the HTC Flash player and you can view the video. Sometimes it's not High-Quality, but most of the time it looks pretty good to me.

So, finally, I know how to view YouTube in the default web browser over 3G again.

I understand the OP is disappointed about the built-in YouTube app not working, and I was too, then the weather stopped working with "Current City". I then played with different clocks and weather apps for a week. I think I have settled on DigiClock by David Goemans and World Weather Clock by satok (but I don't think it follows Current City when you travel). I tried The Weather Channel, but the screen icon didn't look that good to me and it said "Weather Unavailable" a lot. I think it keeps trying to update when the phone is sleeping and has not network connection and it's not smart enough to just leave the current temperature on the screen and wait for the network to update. I tried Weather Widget by Android Apps and that was nice. I think it will do "Current City". I also tried Weather Forecast Widget by Fancois DESLANDES and that was nice too. I can't remember if that did "Current City".

So, while I was frustrated and upset for a while, I decided to change the phone around and I like it. Overall, I'm still really happy with this phone. It's my first smartphone/fun phone. I was afraid I would be stuck with a "broken" phone if I waited past the 30 day return policy while hoping for updates.

Also, I had to buy Touchdown for Exchange to connect to the work mail server because HTC didn't make their mail app work with all Exchange servers out there. Touchdown is really nice though and I enjoy that program.

One more thing, I wish it had a missed call reminder that would beep every X minutes like the old E815 and razor v3m would do. There is a free app you can install that will do that, but it also makes the phone stay awake 100% after your first missed reminder beep.

For bluetooth, I don't use it, but I understand the voice dialing over the headset doesn't work even though someone reported that over a year before the Eris was released. Come on Google, wake up.

So, I kept the phone and it's still really nice for what I want to do with it. I'm trying to be patient while waiting for updates that I hope will come.

hehe wow, what a ramble!
