Root ClockWorkMod

just curious, would it be possible to repackage the actual lg optimus elite update with a modified recovery and just run the update? or instead of pushing a recovery thats modified, use the recovery it uses to update the device to zv5 with quickmemo and use it to push a rom. lg built it to push whatever they wanted to. maybe it can be used to do the same but for our purposes. dont know. just a thought.

Heh, like a Trojan Horse of awesome, or piggybacking on the update. Either way, that's not a bad idea - provided it's possible!

well with this phone,i dont count anything as working until i see it. but maybe editing in to what lg dictated should be pushed could work. dont know. and dont know how to do it lol.

If I remember right, LG didn't put a full recovery in the update, it was a patch for the recovery. So while it may help, it won't do as much as you might think.

I have to admit, much to our dismay, that LG did a darn good job on locking this down and keeping it that way.

As for estimates...
In computing, you spend 95% of time identifying the problem, 4% looking up a fix, and the last 1% actually fixing the problem.

In other words, you won't know how much longer until you have it fixed.

Not a bad idea. I mean, we know the update changed the recovery a little bit, so it has the privileges to do so. If we could use that privilege to change recovery in a helpful way then that would be nice.

I check it daily too, and I hope others do too. I'm still trying to think of ideas as well. But yeah it isn't dead man. I can't wait for this! Lol if you read this Drew good luck!

he is trying to port COT to the elite. keep in mind hes very busy, he is supporting ~ 6 devices. but even if it takes time, hes one of the best to have working on it. BobZ did try, but I dont think he tried very hard as the device was not for him, but his wife. be patient guys. and as for the injecting the recovery in the update, there is a very good chance it would brick your phone if tried. But it wont even flash due to signature verification. manufacturers use there on key to prevent this.

Geez. Give the guy some time to work on things, we're lucky to have someone building a recovery for us. Especially because I don't even think we hit the full donation amount, and he picked a phone up on his own. As the saying goes, when its done its done.

I'm just posting in this thread for future reference, patiently waiting for a custom recovery release.

This phone can't possibly run Jelly Bean... or can it?
