the mr1 radio-1.16.00.0402w_1

wormdoes is using it and having good results. i ran it a few releases ago and had issues, but im thinking of giving it a try myself and see if maybe .6 likes it better than the one im on. im having such good luck with the old radio im almost afraid to mess with it  but,it may be that much better and ill never know if i dont try it! :D

i have been running the upgraded radio as well. I had a one or two weird reboots when i get a text message, but that is it. The 1.16.00.0402w_1 radio has worked well for me the past few days with not many problems, even going from wifi to 4g.

Lovin CM7 so far!

Makes me wonder why this was still in beta mode. Id say it's easily as smooth and polished as the best sense ROMs.

Running 402w radio, and no issues.

Curious if there's any benefit to using a different kernel. The stock one seems perfect. Is Imo's version better in some way?

readin thru the thread, alot of folks are pretty happy with the stock kernel, alot are happy with somethin else. theres alot of varience of opinon,so you might just need to make some backups and give em each a shot. wormdoes is a fan of imo's kernels im sure hell give you some good reasons to try that one. :)

im still on the stock kernel, its been working so well for me,im afraid to mess with it.

im definately gonna try the newer radios, and if i no new "nightlys" pop up i may have to give kernels a shot so satisfy my flashin needs :D

they have always been smooth and polished looking... even the first release. the prollems have all been functional, getting the radios to work has been a major challenge. the issues that plauged early versions were.incall volume, gps, data, battery life. blue tooth issues, not getting texts to send and being able to watch the battery gauge drop were what kept me away from using it as a DD up util .3

Running Imo's kernel now. 3.1.6 and haven't noticed a difference. I like the speedtweak script and ability to change the voltage settings though.

I'll test the battery tomorrow, but so far seems as good as stock. Which is saying a lot. I left the phone unplugged overnight to see how much it dropped on standby. 2% drop over 10hrs..

i think im gonna give the old radio one more day, then try the newer... then maybe give imos kernel a shot :)

Give the new radio a shot. So far no issues at all.

Also, if you try a different kernel, give the newest version of Nerozehl's dreamkernel a shot. Its built off of imoseyons with some additional tweaks. 2.0.3 is posted on the last page last I checked which is built off of Imo's newest lean version. Same speedtweak script via terminal emulator, and voltage adjustments via init.d.

Working terrifically well!

Been dealing with some serious family shit all weekend so I haven't been around much. IBrick stated the advantages of Imos' kernels vs stock CM, but I also wanted to add his support is the main reason I always run his kernels. He is constantly updating and releasing new versions and the speedtweak scripts and ability to lower voltages (doesn't work for me on CM, bootloops even if I drop it by 25) is hands down one of the nicest features around.

Kinda strange you're having problems with the voltages. I jumped back over to Imo's kernel. The audio on video playback was a little better. Still not perfect, but better than the constant popping I got with dreamkernel.

Anyway, running 1.4 extreme, with my normal undervolt, -25 to -50, except for 245@750, and 368@800.

Really is amazing how much variation there is between 2 'identical' phones..

Yea, it is bizarre. On Froyo I could drop all the voltages by 50-75 and it ran like a champ. I also had issue changing voltages on BAMF GB so I wasn't shocked to have problems on CM. I think I'll give it another shot this weekend when I have some more time to mess around

so far,my phone really seems to like .6 with the 402 radio. not only have i had ZERO issues with momentary data loss or handoff, all my texts went right away, and ive seen another improvement in battery life. been getting about 8 hours out of what i consider heavy use-checking email, checking the forums, surfing the net, texting, and 2-3 hours of talking on bluetooth. been getting 15ish hours out of what i consider to be moderate use. ive got 13 hours and 10 minutes on this charge and still have 28% left . most days id be on my 2nd battery by now,so this seems to be a pretty significant improvement.

think im gonna give this radio a couple days before changing kernels. guess maybe ill flash something on my inc or my eris to get my "fix" for a couple days :p

edit:
final total: 17 hours,15 minutes and still at 8%. thats gotta be a new record for me :D

18 hours and still at 34%. Sadly i had no calls today, i did leave 4g on most of the day, worked from 11-6 so during that time only short periods texting a little facebook no web browsing. This has been very limited use for me today and this is a new battery on only its first charge. I am very happy i got to 18 hours though. i love cm7, can't wait to see what lies ahead.
as a comparison i have left my incredible on, wifi sleep policy set to screen off it is at 21% 3 days 12 hours and 7 minutes on battery. I haven't touched the thing really in 3 days but that is some awesome standby time.

lol yeah i get similar standby out of my eris and my inc. even if i play with em alot, watchin you tube, checkin phandroid and email, and leave sync and gps on,i still get 2-3 day out of a charge  wonder how well the TB would do if you turned off everything but wifi?

probably 4 days or so. I'm glad to hear you are having good luck with the 402 radio, i had a problem today trying to attach a picture to an email, but it may have just been that i was in a poor signal area. i believe that was it, because i just sent one over wifi and it got here no problem.

No way you'd get 4 days. The best life I ever got on the TB with the 1700mAh battery was 3 days. That was with LTE off and on WiFi only (no gps) with light use. 4 days is a long time for any smartphone. I'm sure it can be done, but not with the TB

haha im sorry i misread his post. I though he was talking about the incredible. Everyone says that phone is terrible on battery, and i just got 4 days out of it with wifi and gps on and super light use, basically is a paperweight. It is not possible out of the thunderbolt yet, but you could probably get at least 2-3 on this rom turning everything off, possibly even underclocking.

i misunderstood posts,too,lol... i thot we were talking about standby times of inactive phones  neither my inc nor my eris got anywhere near that good when they were an actual phone with an active phone signal.

thats actually what my question was. take an inactive TB with a 245ish screen off profile, turn it on wifi and let it sit there. how long you think it would last? i dont think 4 days is out of the question if worm got 3 with a phone thats active!

even with heavy wifi use i still get a good 2+ days on a charge now that theyre not active. before battery life was very similar to what i get now.

Been running CM7 on my Thunderbolt for about 8 hours now and beating on it good. So far everything seems production release quality except GPS.

I don't get the little GPS icon on the notification bar when I am in an app like gmail showing me it getting the fix/lock, and GPS seems a bit slow to lock me in and not too accurate.

Weird thing is in the Speed Test app it is putting me on the other side of the earth when it looks for closest server so guessing GPS still needs work.

try downloading an app called "gps status". go to settings/tools/manage a-gps state. you can reset the data, then download gps assistance. then let it get a lock on 7-9 satelites. once it does, try navigating or something else that requires GPS to work. after you do this,it should lock instantly.

a common "fix" is to get a solid lock on a sense rom, then flash cm7 or restore your backup. you can try it,but its never seemed to do anything for me.

Hah scratch what I said - turns out the only reason I got any location info was all was carrier and wifi. Turned that off to focus on GPS and it says there is no GPS lol.

I will have to play with this more tomorrow when I am more awake but seems this is a known issue for most folks with this build.

So I been using CM 7 RC.6 for a couple of days now on my Thunderbolt as a main phone and so far so good. Early alpha or not, I have had not had any showstopper bugs or issues.

Few issues I have encountered:

1. When I first flashed it GPS was not working right. Thought this would be a showstopper but then found a fix on XDA. Just boot into a baseline Sense RUU, fire up a GPS test app and get a good lock, then restore the CM7 build back and boom it works.

2. Another GPS issue - sometimes apps that activate GPS cannot release it so it stays on active and burns the battery down fast. Easy fix - go to manage apps and force stop the app that has was using the GPS and it resets.

3. Signal strength indicator does not always work. I have had times where it shows me proper bars for signal and other times it just stays gray as if no signal at all.

4. Radio performance for data is a bit meh - in 3G coverage right next to my Incredible the Incredible will curb-stomp it on data throughput.

5. Wifi works fine for me but every other reboot it seems to forget my WPA key. No biggie more of an annoyance than anything.

Obviously if you took 10 people and put this on all 10 of their phones you might get 10 totally different experiences but my experience has been pretty positive. I really can't wait to see the next build.

The one question I have of the CM7 vets out there - do any of you use ADWLauncher EX? I installed it overtop and it seems to have some conflicts with the basic ADW in the ROM. For example, some parts of the UI I have to tweak with the basic ADW and other parts with the ADW EX.

You already commented in the CM thread, curious why you started a new thread when an active one already exists?
