Root Cm7 1.1

I'm not very happy with the battery life on 1.8 with stock kernel or 3.7.1. But I don't have data to back it up. Its no where near blacksource with 3.5.8.

So far I'm lovin this build.

No complaints whatsoever. I'm running 3.7.1 so it's still too early to tell how battery life is, haven't even cycled yet.

Seems ok to me so far. Everything that I have done so far works. Too early to have much of an opinion on battery life--I just cleared stats a few hours ago, but I have been out and about more than normal today so I cannot tell. Seems good, though. FWIW, I wonder how much the ROM has to do with it given how strongly it seems that the kernel affects it.

I did play around with the ROM for a while on the stock kernel and it still was snappy and smooth. Everything worked as it should, except for the LED notifications being swapped. (green is amber, amber is green)

I did a full system format, data/cache/dalvik wipe, and cleaned up the SD before installing this build so that may be part of it, but IMO this is definitely the best build to date.

Sorry for the double post....I just couldn't resist to flash this so I went ahead and did :p...so far I love it! Same quickness all around, speed is great (got a 2245 on Quadrant Standard)..The only real difference is the other two modifications to the lock screen.. One is a sense 3.0 type lock screen called Ring which is my favorite and what I'm using now. There is also one that is called Lense which is like the sense 2.0 lock screen but a little different. Will report back on battery because I really can't tell how it is now. I would say if you are thinking whether or not to flash this, to definitely do it! Also flashed IMO 3.7.1 and seems to be working great!

Hi,
I know you need more time to see how well it's working for you but are there any audio phone call issues you have with it?

Thanks,
Bryan
Can't wait for your updated status on the rom :-)

well,i dont talk on the phone itself,i always talk on a bluetooth, and i had zero issues with that. BT has been great for me the past several builds... it connects right away.text messages dont knock me off(a prollem i have with stock baSED BG roms),and if i left range it disconected and reconnected nicely.

battery life was fine for me as well. about 7 1/2 hours with 4g on,and 2-3 hours of voice calles on BT. constant email and forum checking, and words with friends :p i pester it constantly by waking it up to check the time/date/weather.

i have what i condsider extremely heavy useage and i typically get 7-8 hours on aosp roms.

been awhile since ive run it,but i dont remember imos kernel being drastically different the way i use my phone. ive pretty much stopped caring,lol... it takes me 2 batteries to get thru the day no matter what rom/kernel i run

I used bluetooth (hands free) several times today and had no issues. I have a 2007 RDX (it was all new and cool when I bought it back then--now it has a pretty outdated bluetooth stack), and like I have said before, it basically only does hands free.

Once I got everything set up I have had no issues at all with this ROM. I am doing a battery calibration right now. I may do the network location fix at some point...but really I think that was kind of overblown since all it takes is a GPS fix to get your location correct. But i will do the fix anyway just because it is kind of interesting.

Edit: people have been reporting that the lockscreen is laggy. I have found the opposite--it is almost disconcertingly fast--so quick you don't have time to enjoy it!

So whats the review on this ROM? The Rom thread says it will have issues, so what experience are you guys having with it?

Everything working?
Hows the battery life?

Its the best ROM for the tbolt. There's a reason 95% of AOSP ROM's are using it as their base.

The only thing not working is NFL app. Flash works, camera works, GPS works, might need to do the sense trick for GPS though.

Otherwise its flawless. I was playing around with a sense ROM before I wiped everything clean and started fresh with this build, and its just not close. Once you get used to AOSP there's no going back, and I'm not a sense hater.

Battery life is a little too soon to know for sure, have to wait a few days to get an idea. That being said, I expect 20+ hours with moderate use, which seems to be the norm for CM7, or CM7 based ROM's.

Sounds great, this is exactly what I wanted to hear. I had 1.7 and loved it. I recently switched to something else chasing better battery life and I'm not getting it. I think its time to get 1.8

I dont use NFL app so I'm fine. As long as bluetooth, camera, and other essentials are good then i'm fine. Is the GPA fix hard?

No you just need to make sure you have a lock on a rom prior to flashing the rom and it should work. If it doesn't then make a backup, flash a sense rom, get a GPS fix, then restore your backup.

How would i know I have a lock before I flash? Once I reboot into recovery is there a way to know if I have a lock?

Or do I make sure I have a lock then reboot into recovery?

If you have a GPS lock now, you'll have it when flashing 1.8. But, basically, flash and setup CM7, make a nandroid in recovery. Flash a sense ROM, make sure standalone is checked along with Google location. Open maps, let it sit for a couple minutes, maybe run navigation, refresh weather, etc..

Boot back to recovery and wipe data, cache, dalvik, and restore your backup.

You may not need to wipe, but I always had little bugs pop up if I didn't and it never effected GPS.

When you reboot CM7, turn off Google location and just use GPS.

I installed it today, I hate the gb keyboard so I installed the HTC IME apk and I'm good.

You may want to check out go keyboard, IIRC it is based on the HTC keyboard but it is more easily skinable so you can customize it very easily.

Did you undervolt with vipermod or left it as blacksource stock?
Thanks,
Bryan

Edit : nevermind saw you undervolted. 25 and oc 1.2 if that's correct :-)

yup, yup

After wiping battery stats, I can confirm that battery usage is just as good. I am a light to moderate user, and rarely on 3G. In a 12hrs day, my screen would probably be on for 60-90 minutes at most and that would drain the battery down to 55-65%.

Everything is smooth. The only lag I would encounter is after I boot up the phone, I would have to wait about a minute or two before login in. I suspect that it's just due to the phone setting and recalling my SiMi widgets and mClock xml file. After that, it's just smooth sailing four me.

Hi,
From what I understand gps fix works just have to leave it on :(
Which will drain battery life.
What is the other location fix that you speak of that works?

Thanks,
Bryan

Flashed it Wednesday and flashed IMO kernel 3.7.1 yesterday morning. The only oddity I have is that when I put it in clock mode on a charger it always gives me the weather someplace in Europe or Scandinavia. This doesn't happen with Weather Bug, maps, or Navigation so I'm more confused and amused than anything else. But if someone could tell me what's up with that I'd be grateful.

In general, CM 1.8 works wonderfully for me and I have no urge to leave it anytime soon!

Since the flash from 1.7 to 1.8, I have found that my wifi doesn't work at all. Does anyone know if the fix to delete /data/misc/dhcp still works for this issue? I don't use wifi much anyway, but I would like to fix it if possible.

Edit: Wiped cache and dalvik. Now wifi works. I don't know for sure that is what fixed it, it could have just beed the reboot. Anyway, it's working!
