Root CM7 Nightlies

humm yeah the first rc build was a bad build and they already knew about the stuff and the rc was updated lastnight... but i am on 39 and things seam good i would love to to see the new invisiblek/ slayher kernel that i am flashing on the side incourporated into the build but i dont know if that would happen

What are the benifits of that kernel?

Here's the thread specific to InvisibleK. Note that they suggest NOT flashing using ROM Manager. I've taken them at their word and have only flashed the kernel through Recovery.

I didn't notice any huge battery savings with it, though. But then again, whenever I've tried it I've wound up playing with my phone a lot so it didn't have too much down time for the Smartass Governor to do it's thing.

Just flashed the nightly #39. I'm guessing it's the version after RC1.

Noticeable speed increase and a .37 kernel.

I'm happy now. I was gonna ditch cm7 for some other gingerbread rom cuz cm7 was slower on my phone for some reason.

Is there hardware acceleration in all Gingerbread roms? Was that the main feature of Gingerbread? Articles I've been reading are unclear or confusing.

Can't wait for more nightlies.

flashing 39 right now, was having too many problems with rc1 hopefully this goes better. if not i will stay on one of the older builds in the 20s like i was running anyways.

Has anyone had issues being able to get at your sd card through usb? I can plug the cable into the phone and as long as I don't want to access the card I'm fine. When I do try to access the card the phone freezes. I can see the phone internal storage on my laptop but the sd card comes back saying please insert a disk into drive blah blah blah. At that point the only thing I can do is a battery pull to get the phone back. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the usb driver for android but no dice. I'm on nightly 30 trying to move up. Any ideas?

yeah it has happened on a few of the builds and it all has to do with the kernel ... the stock one is ok but the usb dosent work sometimes... i am on a diffrent kernel so i dont have the problom ... if you can try getting a diff kernel on your phone by using your sd card reader.. it should be better

You know I wonder if it has anything to do with the ext partition I made to get rid of the media force closes I was having? I put the sd card into my laptops reader and all I could see was the ext partition which of course I couldn't really look at on a windows7 machine. I put the card into an external card reader and I can see the fat32 partition. At least I can move files onto and off it if I need to.

Can anyone explain to me the differences in the governers in the cm performance settings? I am also using the invisiblek kernel so what is the difference between something like the smartass gov and the on demand or conservative?

I think smartass just automatically reduces the CPU frequency when the screen is off, thus making SetCPU obsolete for everything but fancy profiles based on temperature and remaining battery.

this happen to anyone else?

Major slow down while the music app is playing with the screen off. Slows down to a crawl, the music skips, and it's very hard or impossible to stop music player, let alone unlock the phone. Waking the phone will show a very slow screen on animation, but will get to the slide lock and pin lock.

I was using #39. Hope there's a new nightly.

Also the screen freezes sometimes in the middle of sliding the slide lock.

havent actually tried using the music player i had too many problems with rc1 went on to 39 and had some random reboots happen so i am moving onto 40, i will try it when i get it up and running though

Just an FYI for those still flashing nightlies: the nightly numbers have been reset. The newest CM7 Nightly for the Incredible is now 1.

the only thing i can think of is if you have a your processor turned all the way down when your screen was off i used to have the same problem when i used the set cpu to have a power save profile when the screen was off and it tuned the the processes all the way down and then the phone was horrible until it turned on again and one of the other profiles kicked in

Strange. I was not using setcpu at the time. but back when i did use setcpu with a screen off profile, this never happened. oh well. On to the next nightly!
