Comfort Food

Extremely hard Rye or Pumpernickel bread. We used to get it from a bakery, slice off the heel and butter it. Crust was so hard, it took a while to eat it.

Can't seem to find it anymore, at least here in CO. First moved out here, no one even knew what a bagel was.

Homemade chocolate covered bacon, it doesn't get better than this. This isn't a pic of the bacon I make, but it's close.

It's not comfort food unless it gives you a heart attack. :P

I'm now drooling.

My favorite comfort food I dont think I can say on here as I am tired of geting banned lol.. So I will say Orange sherbert.

My old comfort food was Mickey D's apple pies. Before they came out with that baked crap. Give me deep fryer pleasure.

I'm now drooling.
Your always drooling. Going to have to get you a bib girl.;)

Pho! And thank you Tony Bourdain for introducing me to it! If I had to choose just one dish to eat for the rest of my life (in a bizzaro world) this would be it.

Haha, OTD... Pot roast is just about at the top of my list too. Also, dark chocolate infused with chili. And Ben and Jerry's coffee heath bar ice cream is fantastic.

dark chocolate and chili is great! not a huge chocolate fan but I love chili and dark

I forgot about Slim Jim's. I cannot keep these in my house as I will eat the whole can no matter the size. Its like friggin cat nip to me.

There's a restaurant chain here called "Runza" that serves, seasonally, chili and cinnamon rolls. People dunk the rolls in the chili.

No, I haven't tried it. Maybe some day.

Chili goes well with almost anything. I make burritos out of eggs, rice, ham, cheese and topped with chili (outside the tortilla) and tabasco sauce.

My personal favorite thing is egg rolls - something I can't cook and crave dearly often. I usually end up going to the local Chinese buffet and getting a to-go plate with green pepper steak over fried rice with plenty of egg rolls, if I can't afford the full buffet.

But my favorite thing to eat aside from that, is beef stew. Over rice, over mashed potatoes, by itself - it's amazing. Especially in winter. I love to make it in gigantic batches and freeze it in single serve containers for when I don't feel like cooking.

I have never heard of chili mixed with dark chocolate. have a recipe you might want to share? I love chili and want to try this.

Oh yeah hamburger gravy. Easy simple and goes with about anything.

Yes. Go to the grocery or drug store (anywhere with a candy aisle) and look for lindt excellence dark chocolate and chili bars. Super easy to make. ;) There are other brands, but that seems to be the most common good one I have found.

thats the one i tried first, then i had a friend whos a professional chocolatier make me some, fresh home made is the best (she makes her own chocolate too)
