Comfort Food

When I was in Panama last year I ate a lot of very similar dishes.... Tostones y bistec con arroz son mi favorito, amigo!

Traditional poor boy fixins.

Beef liver breaded and quick fried only to brown. Gravy from dripping with a half of an onion.. poured over liver and baked. Other half of onions with a couple of pounds of sliced potatoes fried. Served up with some buttered bread.

Or more poor than that. Corn mean mush

Stir all the corn meal you can into boiling water... stirring and pouring meal as your knuckles turn white. When so stiff you an add no additional meal you remove from heat and pour into a shallow pan and chill. Cut into squares and fry in bacon drippings.

Known in some regions as The Cardio Cath Table Recipe.

 :D

My two favorites are Five Guys grilled cheese and fries (extra crispy!) and veggie chili frito pie from Hard Times Cafe.

I still haven't had Five Guys yet. Everyone I know raves about it, but I've been kind of trying to stay away from the junky shit lately.

Five Guys is meh IMO. Smash Burger is my preferred burger for semi fast food places. And their fries done in olive oil and rosemary are so deliciously naughty.

we just got a Five Guys not too long ago and still have yet to eat there. i've heard mixed reviews. some love it, some dont and some say meh....the most common thing was its expensive for burgers

Well my favourite meal is deep fried human flesh... the thighs I find are the best and juiciest out of them all ;)

That sounds very good, but not very "naughty," as olive oil is quite good for you as compared to many other oils.

Sorry if I ruined it for you. :D

The olive oil is after they are fried in the regular fryer. But hey, if the olive oil cancels that out I'm all for it!! :D

Another Rican dish - called mofongo.

Chicken Tikka Masala recipe - Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe - Allrecipes.com

Love this thing, Unfortunately it is a lot of work, and I had it so often for a while I have turned my wife off to me making it again anytime soon. Serve on top of some steamed rice, with some naan bread. yum!

Another one is Blue Cheese Chicken Pasta as my wife and I like to call it. Carmelize Onions until they are brown, pan fry some chicken breast in olive oil, rosemary, and garlic. Cut/shred the chicken, pour in the onions, a container of blue cheese, some small shell pasta, and the pan juices from the chicken, with just enough chicken broth to make it creamy. Its very rich, and the sweetness of the onions, with the tangy, saltiness of the blue cheese is awesome together!
