Compare, contrast, opinions: GSIII vs EVO 4G LTE / Sprint-CDMA-S4 only

Respectfully disagree on a few points.

To be as thin as a RAZR MAXX and have the same battery, the bezel would be huge, like the Maxx. Give up some thinness and you gain geometry for the camera and a decent speaker.

No evidence yet that quad core kernels are right. Stick with dual core and up the horsepower with the S4 and the 2 GB of ram.

Don't worry about Sprint not marketing it, the forums and the blogosphere will and it will go viral.

:)

Valid points EM, but I was stating more hypothetical of a "what if" scenario and the fact that the LTEvo and LTEpic would overshadow the MophoQ, based on Sprint's history with HTC and Samsung, vs. Moto's newly renewed connection with Sprint, to offer superphones barely last year. Before the MoPho, the original Razor was the last "popular" phone offered by Sprint, but that was obviously prior to smartphones blowing up to the level that it's at now.

My only concern for Sprint's lack of marketing behind Motorola's next offering is purely based on the limited amount of 3rd party accesory companies that were willing to create products for the mopho. Just for example, the one 3rd party accessory I wanted (sgp screen protector) did not create anything for the mopho/electrify. What made it more disappointing was seeing phone after phone being supported by 3rd party acccessories, but majority of the time, the mopho wasn't included. If Sprint doesn't show more support for the new mopho by marketing it more heavily than last year, it'll result in the same situation. 3rd parties aren't going to be jumping to create products if a provider isn't even putting in money to really market the device as they would other superphones in their lineup.

so it looks like Sammy uses more bezel, but makes use of the black border bar that's part of the screen, while htc does the opposite, using less bezel but making no use of the black bar...interesting...A side view would really help with the photo comparison, but only if it's easy :adore: sorry, I know I totally took a mile...

The builds show they are working on it, that their support isn't "non-existent" and working pretty hard with there being as many leaks as there have been so I think it does show Samsung is supporting their products and trying to fix any issues.

And this is the most I've seen ever from Samsung, so it's definitely an encouraging sign. For the non-rooters, hopefully that translates to an "official" release from Sprint.

Historically speaking though, Samsung has been a distant 3rd to that of HTC and Motorola.

the back view of EL TEvo always makes the phone look thick to me. reminds me of the way my 3vo looks with the extended battery and cover on it. really cool how it's super thin in reality. makes me feel like I'll appreciate it even more in person...

I can do that, will have to wait though. I have a wedding to attend haha.

I'm not 100% positive but those screen images are probably simulated. They look computerized to my eye. So keep in mind they are probably not going to be completely accurate to actual product. I wouldn't draw conclusions quite yet.

I could be wrong too.

I think you're right.

The device height difference of almost 2 mm seems well accounted for, but it leaves the 4.8" Sammy screen showing less real estate.

Still really good considering the source materials. :)

I did just grab the images from Phonearena(if you can't tell by the watermark haha), which is where I got the measurements from as well. I created a file in Photoshop with the dimensions of the phone and did my best to accurately size them. I'm pretty sure both images are renders though.

anyone know more about the s beam /wifi direct feature and whether or not this is something already found in some devices? will EL TEvo have this capability? does it have to do with NFC? I like what it says it can do, ie transferring large files between devices rather quickly, this is something I would find useful

OHHHH ...is s beam pretty much the same as android beam like on the GN? I'm getting tripped up with reports that the gs3 version is like mega fast and can do hd movies etc with he relative quickness....then I'm hearing the term wifi direct which is being said is all the feature really is....all I know is that I like the feature and could see using it to xfer vids and large files and not have it take all day. since EL TEvo has NFC and i believe android beam, does this mean I'll be fulfilled

so NFC will allow us to xfer big files quickly between devices? is WiFi direct something different, or just an aka for NFC capabilities?

NFC does small files....Samsung added to it, NFC initiates the process and then Wifi (with both phone on the same network) finishes the rest!

The back of EL TEvo is what dissuades me from getting it. That and the color. I'd really prefer a white version. The red kickstand would look nicer then. imo of course.

really? ok.. the back is not the best .. but not the worst either.

the rest of the phone you liked...
but to let a look of the back.. "dissuade" you ..

Sauske thanks for the info. seems like bits and pieces of my questions are being answered:thumbup:. So its looking like the new evo will not have the same capabilities as s beam, as android beam/NFC doesn't allow for it??????? this tech is limited to the gs3 for now???

No it not limited to the SGS3 only, it's not hardware related, simple software update and HTC phone can do it too! When I root my LTEvo if that a requested feature that people like devs create it! simple script write up! IF HTC doesn't care for that feature!
