Root condemned cm7

I've been running on v18 for a while, and decided on my break to update to v21. I had had a problem receiving texts reliably for a while on v17, which seemed to slowly go away with v18, but its back in full force with v21. Anyone else have issues receiving texts? And is there an easy fix? I love the ROM and don't want to have to go to anything different.

If I've had issues with texts in V21, I'm not aware of it. As far as I can tell, I've been getting them just fine.

Try Verizon messages from market. It's fixed many sms and mms issues. Use it for a day then you can uninstalll it if you'd like.

Are you using stock messaging or an app like Handcent? I was using Handcent and was having a lot of problems either not receiving notifications, not receiving MMS even though it said it had been downloading, and sometimes just not receiving texts at all. I dropped Handcent and went back to stock and all messaging issues seem to be fixed. It's not as pretty, but at least I'm getting my messages/notifications/MMS again.

In order to keep the launcher in memory, is it best to set it within the launcher app itself or within the CM7 settings, or both?

I'm gonna answer my own question this time. I've been experimenting with different settings and I seem to get the most consistently stable/smooth results from:

Compcache RAM Usage - 18% (default)

JIT - Off

VM heap size - 48m

I hope that helps someone. :)

After more experimentation, I noticed that 18% (default) seems to work better than disabled.

after excessively using the gps and google maps during the weekend, I noticed that V21 will reboot often. During the two days that I heavily used it, it rebooted about 6 times.
Out of those 6 reboots, 5 reboots occurred during gps/maps use and 1 happened during camera use (while gps was offf, maps app was not running).

That happens when you let Google Maps update itself. Uninstall the updates (as though you were uninstalling the app itself), and it will go back to a previous version. The version that comes with the ROM should work without crashing.

Make sure you uncheck the auto-update box in the Market so it doesn't automatically update itself.

I hope that helps.

Just wanted to say thanks for this ROM. Installed it today (getting sick of waiting for the Nexus). Appreciate all the work you put into it.

CS, thanks for all you have done to keep our little phone chuggin' along all these months. It's been great having a developer so involved in our community and I will be riding out my time on my Eris on your ROM, no matter how much longer that is.

Nexus or bust.

I'm assuming that, once my Galaxy Nexus gets activated, my poor little Eris gets deactivated..!

I'm assuming it's still operational offline, right? I'm guessing I'll need to uninstall everything that depends on the internet and install everything I can that doesn't. Am I thinking right? Any advice? I'm thinking of turning it into a gaming device for the kids, maybe.

Will Ti Backup continue to work without an active activation (there's a silly term!)?

Technically you can still use everything if you have an active WiFi connection. Except sms/mms and the phone itself of course. :)
