Help Continuosly being asked to Select Time Zone

I have the timezone set to automatic, I still get the time and date setting notification every so often.

For the weather portion of the widget, open up the weather, select menu / settings and select "My current location"

After doing that, the weather portion of the app will show your current location more accurately. :)

Just figured out another setting that "may" help with the annoying pop up. We keep getting that pop up because we're going in and out of sprint service. I'm assuming here. ;)

I just went into the roaming settings and just realized the roaming data is turned off by default. Go under Settings / Mobile Network make sure you have domestic voice AND domestic data checked. You'll now receive roaming data.

Hopefully this will help fix this little annoyance. I'll be testing this all day, I'm getting horrible signal in the mountains where I'm working, in and out of service, roamimg, etc. :)

I've always been set to allow data over roam and I get the notification still.

All of my settings are correct but it still shows "current location" on the widget.... And continues to believe that there is a thunderstorm outside until I force it to refresh... Any other ideas?

Do you have your data sync turned off?

If you do, that will probably cause that.

If not go under settings / applications / all and fing HTC sense, clear the cache.

Then delete the weather clock widget and re-place the widget on your home screen, see if that fixes it.

Will try this and report back...thanks for the help!

OK so I tried all of the above... The cache was empty so I accidentally deleted the data for htc sense... Big mistake.. After re setting everything:banghead:... And then deleting the weather clock widget and reinstalling still no change.. But I did figure something out.... Under current location I searched and added my current home town and actual location.. And what the phone says is "current location" compared to the actual weather for ocean city nj is wrong.... Idk what's going on... Any other tips??

Would also like to add that when I post to Facebook my location is DEAD ON maybe even better than my 3vo... So it doesn't make much "sense" that my weather/clock widget isn't functioning properly.. :(

I've been noticing this issue with my phone as well, but haven't posted about it. It seems to happen often when I change between CDMA and LTE+CDMA modes. Not always though...

After spending two plus hours making sure the escalation team had all the information needed to resolve the issue. They tell me, this is a known issue and can only be corrected with an OTA update. Thank you for helping us get more information on the problem.

Seriously, thanks for waiting my time...

Under my world time, I have two entries: my current location and my home location. Current location shows the correct city name I'm in. Home location shows Eastern Time. I believe it's this Home location that somehow loses the timezone info, prolly due to a hiccup trying to connect to the mobile network's time servers. When this happens, Sense decides to prompt the user for a value, rather than time out and try again later.

That's what the OTA will fix. Stop asking the user what the timezone is and just keep polling the mobile network when its available again.

Which reminds me.... Over in the 3vo thread, there's a sticky with a link that you can report bugs to HTC. I think we should sticky a thread here for that too.

So.... Is anyone else having issues with the weather/clock widget showing "current locstion" rather than the town your in? My thread was merged here and seeing current location all day is pretty annoying... It doesn't even seem like the weather is right.. When compared next to my 3vo... Btw.. Facebook posts are dead on GPS wise. And all settings are correct... Cleared cache didn't fix it.... Reinstalled widget didn't fix it... Anyone??? Desperate here :D

If you tap on the clock widget, do you see two entries? Current and Home. Under Current, does it list your town/city?

BTW, I set my Home to Boston (it was showing Eastern Time before) and I haven't seen any more popups asking me about time zone. I'll keep monitoring and report back later.

When I hit current it just stays as current location... It doesn't list where I actually. Am... Compared to another EVO at work the weather isn't even accurate... Don't get why it's doing this... The first day it listed my correct location.. No problem.. And my Gps is dead on.. Just can't figure out why it only says current location opposed to say Pleasantville.. Which is where I am at work.. I've checked my settings over and over... Even turned the Gps off and back on... Lol

Update: interestingly enough my issue seemed to fix itself... After taking the phone off the charger this morning the location was correct.. Didn't change a thing.. Weird.

How did you specify the home preference, I've been playing with that for two days

While in the World Clock, press the Settings button (vertical 3 dots at the upper right of the screen). Then choose Home settings. In the text box, type in your city. If it can't find your city, try a large city near you.

I have same issue plus i can't even get to weather settings. flickers and then goes to weather screen. Can't even create the weather widget. It goes through the process of making the widget but nothing shows up just says loading and then screen will timeout and no widget. And whenever i hit the home button the screen shows my background and says loading for a good 10 seconds. THAT'S BS. My Hero didn't even act slow like that...

I'm having this problem, too. I get the notification to set my time zone, but the clock/weather widget accurately shows where I am. I have gone in and set my home location, and when I get the notification I can go back in and my home location is no longer there. Happens about every two days or so.

I'm getting this once or twice a day. Not that big of a deal, but sort of annoying. I hope a fix comes out soon.

i encourage all of you cats and cat-ettes to contact HTC and tell them. simply posting here is not going to help them build a good maintenance release, which all of these phones get shortly after OFFICIAL launch (prior EVO brands received maintenance releases shortly after launch, and HTC confirmed to me in an e-mail that they will release one for the LTE soon--no ETA given).

so thanks for posting up here, but kindly send HTC and e-mail and let them know the issues you are experiencing.
