Custom (3rd Party) ROM: Revolution. Pros and Cons

I'm on Virgin/Bell and after 30 min it's all good. Internet/wifi is fast. If I do encounter modem issues i'll let you know.

My bad this message was for Sl33p3r.

Here I made this, not tested it but it should work. Do a nandroid backup just incase :D

BTW its only for removing the revolution theme v4

Stock theme is now available the Kitchen Pro app!

It seems to work great at times and other times its unreliable. Keep me posted.

How the hell I get rid of this keyboard. I've flashed another theme yet its still orange. I guess something to do in the morning when my battery ain't about to die:D

yes the cfroot kernel seems popular on xda along with siyah.
siyah1.7.8 now also does efs backups too which could come in handy one day.

I've been away for the last couple of days and not had my fone so i've only had 1 day of testing, and KI3 on siyah1.7.7 drained 12% overnight! quite a number of spurious wakelocks too. I've got 1.7.8 on now so I shall see how this performs tonight. On this performance I would put cf-root kernel back, but I want bln, so thats a non starter.

I don't care what the people over on XDA say, siyah gives me the best performance and battery life over CFRoot by a long shot (plus it gives me BLN)

I'm now stable with regards to battery/wakelocks.
Turns out it was a wifi/3g datacounter widget which I've had all along from day 1 practically with no problems.
Removed it from my homescreen and now all is well.
I left wifi on (but sleeping) and my battery went down 2% in 10 hours overnight.

Curious now as to what the next step for this rom will be with the joining of forces between Leo and Checkrom's author GandgetCheck

Looks very nice butty!
Would look even nicer with the green circle battery indicator you added to the Gingerway Ocean Blue theme before!

And congratulations by the way. Leo is adding it to the Kitchen!
:D

Now that my wakelock problem has been sorted, early signs now is that battery life seems very impressive. I decided to charge it up at work today and recalibrate the battery with good intentions to tun the thing down to 0% tonight, but after 7 hours on battery with over 3 hours with the screen on browsing over wifi i'm still at 50%
After similar use previously I'd be lucky to be on 20% by now
:)

Did you install it by going into recovery mode via the power menu syd?
if so, try turning the phone off and go into recovery mode with VOL-UP+HOME+POWER and try installing it that way instead

nice work streslatt, looks lovely

flashed theme remover then flashed your theme, only the notification bar changed, none of the other lovely features appeared. any ideas how i can get it workig??

Flash stock theme first and it will work. I'm going to fix this today. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT - Fixed now, edited link in original post.

Hello Guys I have a simple question and I hope you can answer easily.

Currently I have the XXKG6 - Andr 2.3.4

I understood that I do not need a full wipe to install the Rom. But my questions is:

1) If I have the XXKG6 , I simply download the "kitchen app" and then through it I install the Rom - Revolution v2.7.1 XXKI3? Do I need to do anything else? Do I need to install in advance the XXKI3 or ???

I'm asking because when I upgraded from Stock to XXKG6, I had to install "firmware" and then "kernel" and then root.

Firstly a fill wipe is recommended. Not essential, but it will invariably lead you to fewer problems further down the line. If you wipe or not is your own choice. I have contacts/calendar/apps linked to google, so its not that much of a chore to wipe and set everything back up.

To install, I didnt go the kitchen route. Its a personal choice, but i think its a lot of data to come down to the device (250Mb+) so I prefer to download it to my PC first. At least then if something goes wrong, your not affecting anything on your phone. Perhaps others on here did it the kitchen way, and are in a much better position than myself to advise.

I rooted first which then gave me CWM recovery, and its then just a simple matter of copying the downloaded .zip file onto sdcard and install it from within there.
If your already rooted (as it appears you are) then I would say this is your safest option.
Remember to do a CWM backup before you do anything

Once your up+running on revolution, download and install the kitchen.apk
If your not going to do the wipe, then you can do this first if you wish

Good luck. You wont regret it.

If you're not rooted you will need to do this before you can flash the rom. I used the kitchen to flash it without a wipe and haven't had any problems. Its a simple as you said it. Download kitchen, select download rom from kitchen menu. When its downloaded press flash and then wait.

did as you said and same result I'm afraid. Am installing from kitchen, would it make any difference installing from recovery mode as hawker suggests??

How are you installing from kitchen? Did you download the v1 version or the one i posted here?

Tested both themes, one from link and one from kitchen. Both work fine after theme restore was applied. Try deleting cached themes, re download and try again.

By deleting cached themes do you mean going into my files, into download folder and deleting the theme zip files?
