Custom (3rd Party) ROM: Revolution. Pros and Cons

What kernel are you on syd? This could perhaps be an su3.0 issue.
What version of su are you using?
May be worth bunging su2.3.6.3 on
 
was wondering that too. had stuck with su2.3 but installed something (think it was another theme) that then installed su3.0. haven't had time to try steslatts latest suggestion, so willl try that, and if fails will try su2.3

I just accidentally installed the Samsung Software using the Kitchen Pro app, anyway of getting these off again or will I need to install Revolution from the .zip again?
 
Just turned my phone on and all I get is the revolution start up cobra and wording loop, any ideas? My phone is unusable at the moment
 
I tried to install something (think it was a theme) from the Kitchen Pro app, restarted my phone and it just keeps looping.
 
Ok boot into cwm recovery. Then go to wipe cache partition, select yes. Then go to advanced, then wipe dalvik cache, select yes. Once you have done this go back to the main menu and go to install zip from sdcard, then choose zip and find the download folder, inside there go to revolution, then selct the theme you tried to install, then select yes. Once the theme has installed go back to the main menu and selects reboot system now. The first boot will take a while but leave it.
If this doesnt work them there is a probably a problem with the theme file, maybe it didnt download correctly. You will need to install a new theme or install the rom again.
 
modem question on revolution

i seem to find my mobile data connection keeps dropping off with very patchy connection
anyone else get this?
any suggestions for changing modem??
i read somehwere that changing the "GSM/WCDMA (auto mode)" can help - i don't understand what this does???

It depends on which network your on if this is worthwhile. 3 doesn't sport gsm so I've turned it off. It stops the phone trying to search for something which isn't avaliable.
As for the modem choice it maybe worth giving kh3 a try that was always the best for me before ki3
 
on vodafone, don't think they use GSM either having had a quick google, so will try swticng to wcdma only
 
Had to re install the Rom unfortunately but never mind, all working fine now.

By the way what are the kernels?
 
a kernel is one part of the firmware (rom) - it manages the hardware on the phone eg CPU, Memory

different kernels have different tweaks/mods that are supposed to speed up your phone/improve you battery/improve the touch screen etc etc some allow over/underclocking your cpu, some allow additional features such as BLN

it's thought by a lot that the standard (stock) kernel that comes with this rom is very good and probably worth sticking with. but you'll do no harm playing around if you want to try others. I'd suggest you go to the xda forum - each kernel has it's own page that tells you what it does and what improvements it makes.
 
Ive just started adding theme colours to Jay K's AOSP lock screen icons.

So far I have

1. Aluminium
2. Purple
3. Orange
4. Blue
5. Pastel

I won't be back online until Monday, but I am willing to take some requests and work on extra themes on monday.

Just had the perfect test to see how my data connection is. In one of my mates back garden I've never had any reception. Always worked fine in the house but the second I walk out the back reception always died and got told emergency calls only. Its the first time I've been there since flashing 2.7.1 and I actually almost opened a webpage outside, I got the flashing upload and download arrows but in the end it didn't open. But still the best its every been so things definitely going in the right direction.
