Accessories Custom Made Incredible Dock

Alright all you crazy android fans(I'm one too). The responses I have received have been a little overwhelming to say the least ;-). Anyways I have taken in to account sever suggestions and here is where I am at not.

For this first batch I was going to add a ~10 degree angle on the base, but I thought screw that. So I am going to add a pivot point so you can adjust it to the right angle for your liking. The next thing I am going to do is widen the the through hole for the usb connector. That way you can use any cable you want. I would really like it too be fixed, where you can just drop it in, but with the all the different thickness case designs and the extended battery designs, it ain't going to happen until I can come up with an elegant way to do it. If I can't do it right too where I think it looks cool, I am not going to half ass it. And finally...I will add some back support.

I haven't received my metal shipment yet so I can knock out a proto. So I will upload a 3d model later on tonight, with the changes.

I will also respond a little more in depth to some of these posts. But if I am on here all day responding to posts I'm not getting any work done. :-)

edit. There is going to be any text or graphics engraved on them either. I don't want no trouble from Google, Verizon, or Lucas films ;-). However I think I will give an option to have something of your choice engraved on them to make it more personalized.
Stay tuned....

Cool, sounds good. I am definitely in. Oh, and let me know if you need someone to Beta test. :D

n2airz, that's some damn fine designing and execution with the cnc machine!

Might I suggest adding framework to the back and changing the angle that the phone is inserted so the the phone could be tilted back slightly for better viewing while seated. Looking at the side elevation of your deign I think that rear supporting framework would be a natural extension. BTW, this is just a thought and not a request or critique.

i mostly agree with this, except it's kind of a request for me ;) but your design & craftsmanship of that dock is ridiculously awesome! i would definitely buy one if you could make it tilt back a bit, & probably still would even if you didn't.

Just so you know, I joined these forums just because of this dock. Freakin' sweet piece of work. I was just about to buy a mikradle, which is nice too, until I came upon this.
Mikradle is very nice, I have one. But I'm ordering one of these too, I can always swap when in the mood or take this traveling. Anything made in the USA works for me.

Awesome guys.

Still tweaking the design, I have everything dialed in except the back rest. The pivot system i think everyone will love. I am using 2 socket head cap screws on each side and you will use an allen wrench to adjust. And yes I am including an allen wrench for adjustment ;-).

I will upload a picture of the updated design as soon as I finish.

I haven't finished the back rest, mainly because I am super picky and anal so no 3d model yet. However here is a picture of the modified sides with a pivot point. I think it will look super cool and have more of a mechanical feel to it. ;-)

As I said before I am using socket head cap screw(allen wrench head) for the pivot points. I love socket head cap screws and use them every time I get the chance. Since some folks may not know what an allen wrench is or may not have one on hand. I am going to include one for adjustments.

Very cool.

Count me in for one as-well! This looks awesome, better than anything you buy right now. If it is between $25 - $35, I''ll buy one asap!

...add me to the list!

My suggestion is to go completely blank w/o any logos. Then we can all go out and get die-cut stickers made at the local mall kiosk.

@ Kazrell

I'm working on it brotha, trying my best to satisfy everyone's suggestions.

@ justbrae1

I'm trying to think of something that would grasp the usb cable, but I am really trying to keep this as simple and cheap as possible. The first run most likely won't have this feature, but rest assure it is at the top of the list.

@ Tech Addiction

All of your post have been very inspiring and given me alot of ideas, thanks alot dude.

@ Holydoc

The new design shoot fit the innocase II as well as the naked phone just fine.

@ freddyttt

I want to get the first round all finished before I start asking for money ;-).

@ xkingofgodzx

I am the mechanical and electronics guy and my brother is the website guy. He is in the process of putting a website together.

@ droideris

That post made me laugh.

@ Stride

Very cool man, I should have about 20 to 30 done by monday, if all of my screws, metal, and allen wrench shippment comes in by then. And I promise you that they will be under $35.00

@ jakeh0

No problem there. I can't use Droid, Android, or even the font. So they will be blank unless someone wants something custom engraved on it for a small fee of $5.00

@ staypuft

That is in the works. I need to get an X so can get some measurements.

@alarson83

It will look sweet ;-).

@ x0x

Some awesome suggestions. And am taking note. You have to remember this is just something I through together lol. I set down at the computer with Coreldraw and Rhino for a couple hours, and then went out and machined it. The thought of selling them never crossed my mind. So I am a little overwhelmed right now with my every day work and this. With that said, I do see the potential here and am thinking of some wicked future designs.

@ Terabethia

Definitely a cool idea and wouldn't be too hard to implement.

@cccoltsicehockey

Haha that was awesome...

@ Bundy

Yet another thing for me to make. I love it and will definitely start brainstorming.

@ Terabethia

lmao...I heard that. And no I wasn't aware of that. I knew the guy was off his rocker, but thats crazy. Have to admit he had vision.

@ neyel8r

I'm all over it brotha.

@ bjanow

I had never even heard of the Mikradle before this thread, but your right it is nice. But, I am a metal man ;-).

@ BigPapaCherry

Guaranteed to be under $35. I just don't want to get too crazy with the design and drive the price up. Keep it simple and awesome looking is what I want. And of course functional. There is a fine line there...

To everyone I missed don't worry I still really appreciate your comments. I was more or less trying to hit on the suggestions and design changes.

I will have a proto ready in the next couple days with the semi-final changes.

Some folks have private messaged me about sending me money right now. While I really appreciate that. I want to have a final product in hand ready to ship before I take money. Company's get into trouble falowing that kind of practice and I don't wanna go down that road. Be patient I will have some ready shortly.

Cool Cool..

That is what I am going to do with an option for engraving. It also simplify's the design and 1 less machining operation. You won't hear me complaining ;-)

This dock looks sick! Bookmarking this thread. Will definitely purchase one of these if it works with the Seidio Active case.

Excellent work so far n2airz!

wow great idea for the pivot... if you put a big ol' X on it - it shoudn't cause no problems :D

(jus curious: if you do make one for the 'X' would there be a cut for the HDMI port as well?)

I'd definitely second one that works with the Active case. I'm looking at getting one, and finding a doc that works with them looks to be difficult..

Also, for the back support, could it be a post that is stowable (swings up if you need it, swings down if you don't), or at least be removable?

The back rest is the only thing holding me up right now. I am toying around a few ideas. I want to keep it real simple and elegant. I could make a wild crazy design, but it would only drive the price up and I don't want that.

John

I would definitely get one too if the USB cable was mounted on. Perhaps, 2 small adjustable screws to hold it there would make it universal. Kinda like a mounting a christmas tree. :)
