Root [CWM] Clockworkmod Recovery for the LG Optimus M+

Ok. I've got CWM now as well. This is awesome! As soon as I had it on, I rebooted into recovery and made a nand backup. I was on the edge of my seat for a moment waiting for the recovery to boot. I was just a little anxious that it had actually flashed. Good to go though.

neither one of those things affect data

I think that would be incorrect:

"
Files\adb shell "rm /data/gpscfg/gps_env.conf 2>/dev/null"
Files\adb shell "ln -s /data /data/gpscfg/gps_env.conf"

"
That is the Spectrum Exploit blowing up your phone. It dosen't just move it for a sec. then put it back, it just tosses it to outerspace. So next sys update= No Wifi or Data, Voila!

But I could be wrong, I really just got into programming and modding 10 minutes ago.

As shown by my post above yours (post #51), I have CWM on my OM+ now, using the method provided in the op. I didn't loose data or wifi. I have used both since performing this.

indeed you are correct in that it tosses them away, thats because if you reboot it recreates it. they are config files for gps.

I love when ppl who have no clue try to act like they do. It works if u follow the instructions.

I clearly stated I just got here ten minutes ago: duly in reference to my nubile entrance to the android interface. I lost all data after running the exploit so I went looking for obvious answers like any intelligent person would.

I will apologize to Mr. penguin for detracting from his efforts, which he kindly offers for free.
To you Mr. God: i wish to punch you soundly on the nose at our next meeting if you would allow please.

Getting a clue in the arena of porting and modding takes considerable time and investment. If I do aspire to proficiency, it would only be attained on the shoulders of greatness like yourself, Mr. Penguin, Kush, and others.
(Although, that fact does not preclude me from desiring to trounce you about the head a bit, sir.)

Nevertheless, I sustain my apologies.

^ its just a config file for GPS...if it would effect anything it would be GPS...where is your proof that this method of rooting causes the phone to start bricking itself?

Anyways, if you are correct at all, as soon as a rom is compiled with everything working, this won't even matter.

did you lose data after flashing cwm? or root? because all i do is use the root exploit to gain escalated shell thus allowing me to use dd to write recovery. if it is truly the exploit then it should have occured after rooting. would you mind doing a nandroid backup and wiping everything afterwards to see if it remedies your issue? if it doesnt then you can restore everything with the nandroid

I have this installed and I use rom manager to boot into recovery no prob. I also have the custom kernel that playful did and works awesome to except for the WIFI but been running at 1.5ghz since the release of the kernel. cant wait for my wifi to work again hehe

The loss of WiFi is caused by flashing PG's Plague kernel. I flashed back to my backup and WiFi restored, then I reflashed Plague and no Wifi again. I hope a fix will be released soon.

Thanks PG for your work.

post 51 alfick1. are there any step by step instructions for how you got cwm to run on your phone? i have the lg OM+ and am seeing alot of ppl talking about losing wifi and data and i really dont want to part with those so any help would be greatly appreciated. and on another note if you dont mind what's better cwm or the canniable one touch recovery that now out?

Shabbypenguin has left the forum and taken his links down (see post 1 for where to find him). If you have the download that he provided, extract it on your computer. You should find a *.bat file labeled something about an installer (I can't remember the exact name). All you have to do is have your phone plugged into the computer, making sure that you are in mass storage mode, and not internet connection mode. Run the installer and it'll happen. Really, it's a pretty simple thing. I don't mind saying that I was a little uneasy about doing it, but it all worked out.

As far as loosing data or wifi, that won't happen. The wifi only goes away if you flash the overclock kernel provided by playfulgod. It allows you to overclock, but it breaks wifi. You won't loose data.

Now, if you don't have the download, go find shabbypenguin and I'm sure you'll be able to get it from him.

I wouldn't try out the cannibal touch recovery yet. So far it's only listed as being compatible with the Optimus M, and not the M+.

Hope this helps ya out. It is pretty straight forward, and as I was saying, just make sure that the phone is in mass storage mode.

thanks for the info and i did get ahold of shabby and playful. they got me what i needed. the only different thing they saud than what you are saying is they said dnt have it on mass storage have it set to internet
thank you for the advice though

Ok. From my experience, when I tried it on internet connection mode, it didn't work for me, I got into a boot loop that I had to remove the battery and then do a factory recovery to get out of (well, actually, that was when I tried to do the root procedure, and since I had to be on mass storage mode for the root, I just left it on that for the CWM install). When I did the recovery, I was on mass storage mode for the reasons stated in the previous sentence. Best of luck to ya.
