Root [CWM][New Clockworkmod]-Fixed No 2min reboot

I have a question, After making a backup using CWM, You can see the CWM folder using a root explorer, the backup file is usually pretty big, So to save extra room on my sd card can I transfer the backup file to my laptop, if so, My 2nd question is let's say some how my phones messes up or gets brinked, I know ill to reboot to recovery then goto (not sure bout the exact path, but I know I can find it again) advanced/mount usb and add the file back to backup in CWM folder, Will the backup work the same as if I had not removed it. I just wanna make sure its cool and it'll still work correctly......

Well you don't need a root explorer to see files on your sd. Any file explorer will see and edit files on your SD. Cwm creates the folder there. That can also be seen from your computer if the phone is mounted in mass storage ( same as if you plugged in a flash drive into your computer)

All your other assumptions are correct about moving the backup folder to your computer. In fact, that's probably what most of us do here to save space on our sdcard.

Now one crucial piece of advice...
Whenever you are moving the backup folder to store on your computer, you usually want to rename the folder so you know what it is and when you made the backup.
Renaming is fine but the name you create MUST NOT have any spaces in the name.
If it does then you will break the md5sum of the backup and cwm will not use the backup and say,
Error md5sum mismatch

For example,
You create a backup, the name the will be like this,
2013.06.04.10.22
If you rename it to:
my latest megatron backup
You will get the error
But if you use:
My-latest-megatron-backup or Megatron_backup or Megatron.backup
The backup will work just fine no matter how many times you move back and forth..

Happy flashing bro.. Hope this was help full :-)

First, I apologize if my help comes off as condescending...I'm not meaning to, I just want to make sure we cover all the bases. :) Now, with that out of the way:
1. Are you using Windows or Linux, and what version?
2. Did you extract the CWM_Odin.zip before running the program?
3. If you extracted it, how did you extract? Did you right-click and select an option, or did you run an extraction program? If you ran a program, what one and with what options?
4. Did you move any of the files after extracting the zip?

And now a few possible solutions to the above problems:

1. Windows: Continue to solution #2. Linux: To my knowledge, Odin won't work on Linux. The program runs fine with wine, but it fails to recognize when the phone is connected. On the other hand, I'm only functional on Linux, so I could be wrong. :p
2. The files need to be extracted in order to work correctly. On Windows XP, the easiest way is to right-click the CWM_Odin.zip and select "Extract here" or a similar option. I believe it's the same on Windows 7, but someone who has it on their machine will have to verify for me.
3. Depending on what method and what program you used, the files may have ended up in different locations. If that's the case, you may have to dig a little and find out where the OPS ended up.
4. Best to keep everything in one spot. ;) It won't hurt anything to move the files around, but it's easier to find what you need if it's in the same folder as the Odin program.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. :)
Just for reference.. Heimdall is used for Linux as an Odin alt. Odin is for windows only..

Try using odin to flash the phone back to stock:

http://androidforums.com/transform-...ing-return-stock-samsung-transform-ultra.html

Then try flashing cwm properly on your phone again, and then while in cwm right after you flash it, install something like:

To keep cwm and have root to get used to doing this.

that's what I did the first time to get stock I CANT GET BACK TO RECOVERY VOLUME DOWN POWER THANKS

If using odin to get back to stock didn't fix your recovery, then I am not sure what is going on, hopefully someone else can help you soon. Good luck...

when you say odin do you mean cwm recovery

No, they are two different things. Please click on this link and follow the steps closely:

http://androidforums.com/transform-...ing-return-stock-samsung-transform-ultra.html

This will return your phone back to how it was when you bought it. Once you do this, your recovery won't be cwm anymore, it'll be the stock recovery which you can verify by doing the volume down and power button, it will look completely different from cwm. If you successfully do this, then go back to my previous post and do the rest I suggested and that will get you going.

I'm trying to use the terminal method (don't have a functional data cable at the moment), but the raw_image.zip link is not found.

Does anyone have a mirror or alternative link for that?

It occurred to me that the file I need is probably just the recovery.img in the tar file.
I went to go try it, but I can't get su from the terminal. My phone isn't rooted (why I'm trying to do this in the first place)!

You can't do the terminal method without root. Its primarily to update cwm once you're rooted. Odin is the only way to flash it from a non-rooted phone. By best suggestion is to get a cable.

Note: I've had bad experiences with aftermarket cables (even though they are the same type) always use Samsung OEM cables for flashing firmware to your phone. Why take the risk right?

And they are dirt cheap http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Repla...sr=8-11&keywords=samsung+galaxy+s2+data+cable

And yes the recovery.img is the same exact file you would use in either method

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. All I wanted was to root in the first place, so this whole thing kept me going around in circles, trying to figure out how to perform an operation that required root, in order to root... ;)

I found a cable from another Android device, but it wasn't working well. Found another cable in my garage that came with a BT headset of mine, and that worked perfectly. Thanks!

CWM_Odin_pkg.zip
I've tried downloading this file 7 times on different inet connections and I keep getting Corrupt Errors for this file.
Can someone else let me know if it's just me or if the file is really corrupt please?
Thank you ahead of time..

Late response but just tried it; seems fine for me. Maybe something changed in 5 days.

Gotta be your computer man. I just downloaded it as an anonymous user and unzipped and tested.. working just fine for me.. maybe your security software/firewall ?

Hello everybody. I just got this phone today, so I am trying out all the cool things that I have been reading about, Anyway, the link to the new cwm recovery is dead. Does anyone have another link, or am I SOL? I am running 5.0.2.8. Thanks for all your help, that is, if anyone is even in here any more.
