Root [CWM][New Clockworkmod]-Fixed No 2min reboot

just 1 bug that I found... it freezes up when I try and fix permissions, need to do a battery pull to reboot.
but thanks to psycho we can flash kernel zips! yay! (think chev also had something to do with it :) )

It doesnt freeze up. I fixed permissions too and ya it does take longer than the old one. just be patient it does finish. guaranteed. try it again and let us know what is the outcome. like i said i did it and yes it took longer than the old version of cwm but it will finish. promise:smokingsomb:

Its fully functional, its the same version just with bug fixes and we believe I fixed the issue of flashing kernels but we have not tested it but your welcome to try and report back to us if your phone lived or not:D

You can edit this now. It is fully functional. Tested by me. flashing kernels, fixing permissions, backup and restore, all wipes, etc

It doesnt freezes it takes a while, somtimes its fast sometimes its not.

So can a rom now be flashed without restoring it?

If someone creates one with an update zip that is.

Sorry this is my wife's phone and I am less confident if it goes poorly. Most of the stuff I see is boost based and has tweaks to work on sprint.

Thanks in advance.

Chevanlol360 has confirmed it guys that flashing kernels from an install.zip is working fully now thanks to psycho4us4 for risking his device for us all. Eff yeah!!! you both rock!! Chevan has also found the correct updater-script to do so.
I will be updating the thread with samples of each type of install.zip with the proper, working commands

sorry , i've been on vacation for the past week but i'm home now so stay tuned to the thread.

There are a few kinks to be worked out still (e: cant find misc) and a few others but NOTHING that will damage your device. so feel free to use this one as you like..
now, since I have a full report(thanks to all of you) I can report back to utkanos and ask him to make the changes for one final update.
of course, once I have it, I will update the op with the update

Cant download the recovery.img from my phone it always fails saying its a .bin file... lol might have to wait til i get home and try it from the computer...

Well once I made it home and got on the laptop I was finally able to download the zip!!! Yay for me! I would like to say that I was able to flash flawlessly using your terminal method... Please note somewhere in the op that they should backup their original just in case something goes terribly wrong.. Like recieve a call right in the middle of the junk.... I will let you guys know this.. For all the noobs and seasoned alike.. Whenever you are using something like terminal emulator or even an adb push, you should put your phone into airplane mode... Commands to backup your original recovery if you haven't already..

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/sdcard/what_ever_you_want_to_call_it_cant_use_spaces.bak

just tryin to help.. need all the info in one place...

Thanks again Mav... :D

Welcome..
I didn't bother suggesting that because you can just get the recovery.img from any prior nandroid backup.

just an FYI.. when you click a link from google drive and it brings you to the file and shows you everything inside, you have to click "File" at the top and then click "Download" in order to download it. Stupid I know but thats how it works I guess

Is this an update only? Or is this good for new installs?
I tried using the instructions in the OP, and am getting the E: cant find misc error. This is on a brand new, still stock OS phone.
I tried using the alternative instal method, but it will only work on a rooted phone and I was trying to install this to set up root anyway.
I'm running 2.3.6.

Yes you can install fresh/new (recommended)
read the known issues in the second post about the can't find misc
the only way you can install is the odin method if you are on an unrooted TU

So in other words, if I don't have a windows computer, I am currently out of luck when it comes to dealing with this phone...
Unless there's a decent method for rooting the phone, I can't seem to find one, the only one's I've seen link to a dropbox file that is no longer available.

Do you have a linux computer? a computer at all?

If you're using Linux, then you can use adb to push the recovery.img file to your phone, but that's as much as I know in that regard. If you're on Apple, then why are you using an Android phone? :p (just kidding...but seriously, your guess is as good as mine) Sorry I can't be much more of a help.
