Root cyanogen vs mikfroyo 4.4

Which has the best speed and battery life

I would say CM, since it is an AOSP rom, meaning it doesnt have the Sense interface that HTC puts on top of the original android system.... CM has a lot of optimizations, and runs really smooth. I have heard good things about mikfroyo, but i think im biased lol

It really is comparing apples and oranges, but on a pure *efficiency* standpoint, anything AOSP will be technically faster. That doesn't mean it will run smoother all the time.

I ran both and CM6 was not as smooth as mikfroyo, you especially notice it when scrolling through your app drawer, CM gets choppy, not sure why. Some things on CM6 were definately faster, but fast and smooth is a good combiantion, I ditched CM6 and am flip flopping between MIIUI and mikfroyo right now , MIUI is a much better AOSP rom IMO than CM6 (for the couple hours that I ran it) I havent had any issues with MIUI either, everything works

the included ADW launcher seems to not work too well out of the box... i always uninstall it and use launcher pro or ADW Ex, and it works great.
right now im using the CM7 nightlies (based on Gingerbread 2.3.1), and it's even better than CM6 (froyo)

thanks I had other issues (bugs) as well with CM6 that I didnt feel like sorting out, and yes I was using ADW ex actually, it was still not smooth when scrolling through large menus, as always just my opinion :D

I would have to say Cyanogen just based off the fact that it is AOSP, BUT, I am running Mikfroyo 4.4, and it is pretty damn fast....My opinion may be biased as well :D.

So your off the Myns band wagon for now? I'm still running Myn's rom. I'm also getting board with it as it is a glorified version of what I came with my EVO. Lastly, the text issues suck. How do you like Milk? Should I give CM7 a try... is that a gingerbread rom?

Definitely give Mikfroyo 4.4 a try.....I'm sure you'll like it. It's noticeably faster than Myn's or any other Sense based ROM for that matter.

I concur! I flashed Mikfroyo 4.4 last night and have been toying with it today. It is very snappy and has good battery life from what I've seen thus far. I still keep my nandroids of CM 6.1.2, Frost, Fresh, Azrael, Evio and Carbon Fiber. Out of which I use Cyanogen the most. I'm going to stick with MF 4.4 for a few days and see how it goes. So far.....no issues whatsoever.

I flashed Mikfroyo 4.4 about three days ago. Its been working great. I am using it along with ADWlauncher EX. Its awesome.

i changed to mik with the new update and used to use lp on my sense roms. i love the launcher and the rom is FAST!

I'll go ahead and do so now.... I've already done a nandroid of RLS5 of Myn's so I should be good.

Haven't played with cy, but switched over to mikfroyo v4.4 after being a loyal mynion and I have to say, mik is AWESOME. Fast, smooth, great battery life. Love it.

Doing a Nand back up on Milk 4.4..... I think its faster than Myn's, but I'm not liking the theme. I would like to try out CM7 is it buggy, does everything work?

mik4.4 is finally working well on my phone. after changing numerous things it works really really well and is super fast. much faster than myns

haven't tried cyanogen because so many things were not working in the past. maybe someday.

I posted earlier regarding the two myself. I decided to try out Milkfroyo.... it was quick, quicker than Myn's (at least so it seamed). I needed to satisfy my curiousity and so I downloaded CM7 and frick'n love it. Its clean and quick. Milk just seemed dirty to me... almost cheap looking. don't get me wrong, I'm not talking Milk down, just like the clean AOSP CM7 has brought... only had CM7 on now for a few hours and its been perfect (CM7 nightly#7). I say give it a try and see. No point in asking if you don't satisfy your own curiosity... Being a bit of a novice to the whole root scene... I make nandroid back ups prior to flashing any rom's and I clean all data, dalvik cache and cache...

I have used mik froyo 4.4 and cm 6.1.2. I use 4g and Mik froyo I get from 3-7 mbps downloads I never go above 2.5 mbps with cm. The battery life was terrible with cm I think thats from the kernel I had to use to get wimax. I also had no camera. All that said I am about to download cm7 and give it a spin this weekend.

I don't believe there's 4G with CM7..... I'm looking into that now. However from what I read earlier, everything was working... however I didn't read anything about 4G working or not.... must be a feature CM just doesn't include or Gingerbread just isn't ready for?

Does Cm7 have front facing cameracamera working? Would be curious to hear a Cm7 review, and what bugs are still there

4g is not working on cm7 yet. But I do want to try cm 7 but it won't be my daily driver until 4g is working.

CyanogenMod7 - Nightlies - Experimental Builds

What Dosn't Work:
4G - In alpha stages. Should be ready by the time CM7 has its first stable release.
HDMI - AOSP ROM didn't originally have an HDMI option, so it has to be adapted from SENSE.
GPS - Work-in-progress (a temporary fix can be found here http://androidforums.com/2171793-post1229.html) Previous CM versions have this working.
WiFi Tethering - A few bugs (it works when I need it, have not had any problems.)

Everything else is basically working on CM7. The only reason why these bugs are present is because of the changing from FroYo to Gingerbread.

The update in speed is apparent when flashing the most recent Build.
As most users state, "It's Snappier".

I mean, overall it's a very stable ROM, and even being an Experimental Build, I use it every day. I download every other build that is released and flash it. (use the link provided to understand how to flash new builds on top of old builds.)

EDIT:

Did I mention is has the old style Tube TV on/off screen display! It's awesome! I play with it all the time.. I waste most of my battery because of it. lol

Oh, and battery life is about the same from CM6 to CM7.. Maybe a an hour or two more; depending on usage.

Also...

Since this is an experimental build, and it is a NIGHTLY.. At any time, a new Build can be BROKE or something error.. NAND BACKUPS are your friend.. Do them each time before you flash a new Build.

ClockworkMod 2.6.0.1 or Amon_RA 1.8+ is recommended for Nightlies.

For those of you experiencing lag, go into cyanogen settings- performance- and change the VM heap size to 24 and that should fix the lag.

Wow, MikFroYo looks very impressive. I've been using Myn's since RSL 4 and I haven't had as good battery life since RLS 5. (I've tried a bunch of different kernels) Have you guys been seeing good battery life with Mik?
