I'm saying you can't choose your network options and it's stuck on GSM / CDMA preferred only. Here is the problem...
As is displayed in the status line at the top of my screen, I only get 3G, H+, or H signal, and it is constantly fluctuating between these, every couple seconds. (vs. Zmax stock OS running on the same network provider, MetroPCS, in the same locations around Orlando, where it used to show 4G/LTE signal.
So, you're saying, like many others, that it's the APN settings. Well, I've done all the trying and suggestions people have made here, etc., as have had many others who have tried as well on this thread, who are experiencing this.
So, you might also be saying, try the 'Preferred Network Type'... only 2 choices are displayed: 2G and 3G, and it's 'stuck' on 3G, meaning you can't select 2G.
So, maybe you're thinking it's the modem. Fixes/patches were suggested to try flashing. None were successful, nor were others who also tried. As well as, others who tried to re-flash the ROM itself, cleanly from scratch. No success.
Here, also, is another related option that is 'stuck'... the radio band choice. It's set on 'WCDMA preferred', and the drop down choices, to choose something else, isn't working. It doesn't allow to choose select anything else... LTE, CDMA, GSM auto, etc.
It says: 'Network Type: UMTS', and 'Set preferred network type: WCDMA preferred'.
Never in my life have I ever compiled a cm rom and never in my life will I !I apologize for not being as knowledgeable in these matters as I would like to be, but the only way I'm going to learn is by asking questions...
You suggested that you're making a new ROM? Will this be for 'brokenOS' or 'CM13' or both? Will this be able to be (dirty?) flashed on 'top of' our existing ROM? Or will it have to be cleanly flashed?
I'm fearful of doing a 'dirty' flash, and risk getting it erased. Whether we need to clean flash, or not, what I prefer to NOT have to do is reinstall everything AGAIN, for the umpteenth time, since I have 100+ apps DL'ed, multiple desktop screens arranged, as well as, over 65K texts... all of which needs to be backed up, and then forever to reinstall and restore. So you can see my fear and reluctance to do another phone rebuild.
I would invest in an app like mybackup ProI'm sorry... I'm not knowledgeable enough to know the difference, or the reasoning why one would be preferred over the other.
In any case, I'm presuming, that because I'm using CM13, in order to use this 'brokenOS' ROM, I can't mix two different 'brands' of ROMs by overlaying (dirty flash), and I would definitely need to erase my phone, and clean flash. Ughhhh, that means an entire rebuild.
It will take me a couple of days to get it back to 'normal'.
Or Nandroid Manager ProI would invest in an app like mybackup Pro
Why you trying to keep all that evidence?Thank you... I'll look into those apps.
I do have/use backup apps, it's just that the biggest headache in a rebuild is the restoring the 65K+ text messages. It takes FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER!! I have to let it run over night.
But it's also the DL'ing of 100+ apps, and getting them configured, etc.
UGHHHHHHHH. Lol
Wow dfuse ROM gives me LTE and its not even for my deviceI think there are two different issues, the Bluetooth one is solved by flashing another modem either b06 or some other one I don't remember now.And the other issue is the preferred network stuck in WCDMA Preferred (this is the issue I have, on stock Rom or butternoob I get 4G/LTE and I can switch to 2G or any other Network types, but with CM13 or BrokenOS I can't and also the radio band is stuck to GSM/UMTS)
I get LTEWow dfuse ROM gives me LTE and its not even for my device
I just leave my text evidence in backup format then restore as needed with Nandroid mgr pro, Lol. [emoji41]Why you trying to keep all that evidence?
like the contextualI get LTE

Maybe @hroark13 can figure this out since he was the one who released it for the zmax.I'd be grateful if anyone could solve this.
I flashed cm 13 two days ago. Bluetooth , WiFi, LTE have all worked after I created another APN and edited my build.prop. which I do for every rom i flash. Now at first this ROM didn't work for me due to being on b13. I had to replace my LCD and digitizer due to water damage. My original device came with b06. I had my cm 13 twrp back up and reflashed on the b13 and of course no LTE or calls not coming in consistently. After many trial and errors and researching I saw someone post modem issues. So in conclusion, Flashing B06 first then I reflashed my twrp cm 13 back up. Bam!!'Good working daily driver. No issues to report. Getting LTE everywhere I go..Getting incoming calls.
Again thanks to the creator of this ROM and all that have posted positive feedback.
My favorite ROM was cm12.1 rc5 with banker mod v3 kernel. Now this ROM is now my favorite.
Nice to see a ROM with oc included. Just when I was going to say goodbye to this phone. Cm13 gave it an extended year.
Stay classy San Diego!!
Sorry if I confused you with my initial statement. My original zmax( I'm on metroPCS BTW).,came with modem b06 .the ROMs created by the devs all work with b06 ..well every ROM I tried all worked ..so when my repaired zmax was updated to b13 I tried to restore my cm 13 twrp backup ROM that was previously flashed on b06, to no prevail. So I had to reflash the stock ROM version b13 then I flashed the b06 modem zip..after that I was able to restore my cm 13 backup from twrp. So in a nut shell having modem b06 flashed First then flash cm 13 ROM you should be good..
UndacoverBrother, just so I can be certain that I understand the steps you took...
You flashed the B06 modem.zip file? And then did what?
You flashed an old ROM?? Or another modem??
But you're running CM13, correct?
I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I want to fully understand things before I proceed.
