Note on battery life: I had similar experience as SoDroid with kernels and battery life. However, jdlfg's 1100mhz kernel, my battery life has steadily been getting better. In fact, yesterday I pulled the phone off of the charger in the morning used it lightly throughout the day, and at night I went on Airplane mode. I also keep the 3G turned off at home as I have wifi.

That being said, this morning after 24 hours of being on, I had 50% left on my battery! This has never happened before, not since getting my phone in November. Tomorrow I might try to time it officially instead of just plugging it in to charger to see if I get similar results.

Wow...

FYI: He is shooting to release a new set of kernels soon that support CPU temps on 2.2, and some other updates.

Likely he'll announce on his twitter:

Can't wait to here the results!

I've tried the LauncherPro settings and nothing worked, constant redraws with 3 basic widgets. Home screen music controls don't work. Can't skip songs with volume buttons like it said. Fullscreen in browser has issues. I wiped data before installing and have fixed permissions and rebooted.

Sorry to hear that, I've never had constant redraws w/LP on ANY Android version/ROM...that's a really strange result. Did you try the LP settings in post 77 of this thread?

Song skip buttons are on lock screen, and volume button will also skip songs if the screen is locked. So screen locked - use volume button long press, screen on, use skip buttons on lock screen.

What issues are you having w/FS browser?

Latest nightlies have autobrightness working how it did "in the good old days" before Google made autobrightness "one-way" (only got brighter in brighter light, wouldn't dim back down if things got dark again)...now when it gets darker the screen will reduce brightness again...very glad to have that back. :)

Make sure you enabled JIT and changed the VM heapsize to 32m and reboot. I haven't read about those features not working yet so I can't be positive. If changing those settings doesn't work i'd probably reflash. What kernel/theme are you using?

Full Screen with the browser makes it load much slower and bogs down the phone when leaving the browser.

The Lockscreen controls are they but they don't work. The music app too is usually unusable anyway. It force closes pretty quickly. 32m Heap size and JIT enabled.

LaucherPro redraws after anything more than a basic app. Turned off all animations and did the settings you're using.

Ran stock, wiped before installing and tried installing over that. Trying a JDLFG kernel now at 1.1 but it has not helped anything

That's messed up...sounds very whacked. :( No idea why things are so messed up for you, not normal at all.

Since you wiped data/cache before installing, there may just be something about your Droid that doesn't like CM.

You might try the most recently nightly to see if it is any better:

Nightly directory: Index of /cm/nightly/sholes/

I'm running the 7/31 build, and lots of people are running the 7/30 build and loving it. Try either of those if you still want to give it a shot. FYI - the nightlies don't include gapps like the RCs do, but the nightly install script will back up and restore the gapps you currently have installed.

Or maybe just time move on to another ROM and see if you have better luck.

Good luck.

ROM REVIEW - CM6 RC2

Installation & Set up
Installation was very fast. The first boot took 2 minutes. Apps synced in about 11 minutes and download all but 2 apps, Pure Calendar and Ultimate Juice. The weird thing was, when I searched for Pure Calendar in the market, I could not find it. (I did not perform the market fix)I restored a version from Titanium Backup. I also restored my app data using TiBU. I tested the usual suspects, maps, Bluetooth voice dialing, and paid market apps. All seem to be working, and for some reason my maps is accurate again! Yesterday it was showing me what end of my apartment I was on. My maps location had been off by about a block for months. I used Launcher Pro to restore my screens and it was fast and easy, just replaced the widgets.

Speed and Performance with Stock Kernel
Running the stock 800mhz kernel for about a day, I felt it was very capable and fairly battery friendly. I did have to make some setting adjustments in order to achieve optimal performance, those changes are posted here. I also suggest flashing Superuser 2.1, it seems to play nicer with CM, and faster. Find it here. I did minus a half of a point due to the necessity of the tweaks and the fact that they are not explained in the OP for the rom. I was happy with the performance of the stock kernel, but admittedly I do not run 800mhz kernels. I need at least a 1ghz to keep me happy :D

Rom Speed with Chevy

First off nice review I personally have been running cm6 since the first day it dropped and have been loving it. I do have to ask what launcher you are you using and also where you got your background. Thanks

Launcher is launcher Pro (the best IMO) and the wallpaper can be found here. If you go to the Launcher Pro forums, they have a lot of different backgrounds for the Launcher dock here. There's some pretty cool ones, tons of options.

Cyanogen 6.0.0 RC2 Review
Loaded on 7/30/10

- Loaded CM via Clockwork Recovery after formatting BOOT, DATA, SYSTEM, CACHE, and SDext, Partitions. Flashed Google Apps, and the ADW Launcher downloaded via ROM Manager. Immediately loaded Version 2.8 of the Watermark'D theme prior to the first boot.
- First boot was fast, apps restored from Market fast and completely (no missed apps).
- Restored remaining apps/settings with Titanium Backup (with no issues).
- Stock kernel can be overclocked to 800MHz but comes clocked at 600MHz. Must use SetCPU to increase speed to 800MHz...and this was verified via the short bench tests before and after moving the slider to 800MHz.
- ROM was pretty responsive at 800MHz. This is an adequate speed to use if maintaining low temperature and having maxium battery life are key priorities for you.
- 2nd Quandrant test at 800MHz was 1020 which is not the best score I've seen at that speed, but it is above average.

NOTE: If using "on demand" scaling with SetCPU, then you will probably want to change your advanced settings to:

(these are the settings that Pete uses for Bugless Beast)
Sampling Rate: 32000
Up Threshold: 50
Ignore Nice Load: 0
Powersave Bias: 0

- Installed Watermark'D theme version 2.9 upgrade (still zero issues with ROM usability/stability...which means the theme is safe to use. :) That's good...cause I hate stock and WM'D is a beautiful theme!)
- Loaded Jake's 1.2GHz kernel. ROM is blazing fast and unlike some other ROMs + Jake's kernels...Quadrant seemed to be a reasonable indicator of the speed. Second test was 1609 and that is average for a 1.2GHz kernel. Feels extremly "snappy" and redraws happen very fast.
- No issues at this point...no flaws, no drawbacks (7/31/10 @ 12:55am - 12 hours running on my phone)
- Used this ROM for a couple more days now (as of 8/1/10)
- Having the 3G on/off shortcut built-in to the power control widget proved to be helpful and convienent on my trip to BFE in PA this weekend. One time when I turned 3G off and then back on hours later, I had to reboot to get 3G to actually turn back on.
- Having the same issues with SetCPU and the new Super User app. I haven't reverted back to the 2.1 SU app yet but anytime I reboot, I have to re-do my advanced settings in SetCPU. NOTE: I have not tried the newest version of SetCPU so that could fix this issue.
- Only other issue I have noticed is that you may still see a double status bar when loading a web page (when using the full screen browser option). If you touch the screen when you see this, the second status bar dissapears. This is a very minor cosmetic issue and is better than it was in 6.0.0 RC1.

OVERALL: This is the best all-around ROM I have ever used. Considering the features, speed, stability, and theme options, this is incredible. CyanogenMod ROMs have always been leading the pack in terms of features but the speed and stability are now among the best ROM's currently available (BB 0.4 comes to mind).

RC2 is a 5/5 Only issues I have found are so minor that they are barely note worthy! This is a must try!

After I kind of bashed the functionality of the 3G on/off widget, I have been using it while at work (since I barely use my phone) and am getting great results. With little usage (just some Engadget reading and web browsing while on the bus, and a couple phone calls), I went 22hrs and was still at 80%! While I have plenty of time to recharge, I found it pretty impressive. Great feature.

Yeah, I've never needed to turn 3G off before and honestly, if it wasn't "right there" and easily accessible, I probably wouldn't have turned it off. My phone was in and out of signal on my way through the boonies and I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm fairly confident that my phone would have died before the day was done if I hadn't disabled WiFi and 3G. It's not an everyday use feature for me, but it's there and it's a smart modification IMO.

Nice!! Now how do I go about getting back to superuser 2.2 cause I flashed the older one to get rid of those issues.

Still running this ROM and updated to the new version of SetCPU after I wrote the review for it. Still having issues with the Advanced Settings reverting back to stock when the phone is rebooted. I had "set on boot" checked on both the Main Tab as well as the Advanced Tab. I unchecked the "set on boot" options for both and rebooted...still reverts back to 30000 sample rate and 93 uptime threshold.

Anyone else seeing this?

I just read that this morning and havent had much chance to mess with it yet but it appears to be working for me. I am on a nightly and not RC2 though. I will test more at lunch and let you know if it works or not after I have had a chance to really test it.

I remember seeing you change this before to match BB settings. I tried it once and it worked great for me but I don't remember what you changed the sampling rate and uptime threshold to. If you can just throw me those two numbers that would be great and I'll test it out as well to see if it sets on boot for me.
