I just read that this morning and havent had much chance to mess with it yet but it appears to be working for me. I am on a nightly and not RC2 though. I will test more at lunch and let you know if it works or not after I have had a chance to really test it.

It resets my speed to 600MHz with the "set on boot" option unchecked on the Main Tab and even though the slider is at 1200MHz, it doesn't actually clock at that speed until you touch the slider.

With the "set on boot" option checked, it seems to clock at the correct speed but the advanced settings have never restored following a boot regardless of what I do.

Not a big deal...just a minor issue and if anyone can't stand to have this minor issue after a reboot, the 2.1 SU app should fix it fine just as it did with RC1.

ah I never mess with the advanced settings so I would have never noticed that

Change your settings to and see if it makes a difference to the speed of the ROM you are running. Benchmarks usually improve considerably and overall speed is noticeable (in my experience).

Sampling Rate: 32000 (Default is 30000)
Up Threshold: 50 (Default is 93)
Ignore nice load: 0 (Default is 0)
Powersave Bias: 0 (Default is 0)

I've used these settings for a long time as they were what Pete always used.

I can actually tell when they have been changed due to how the ROM feels.

So I'm at the Welcome screen and it tells me to "Touch the android to begin" and no matter how many times I tap him, it doesn't move forward. Stuck on that screen with the hand telling me to touch the little bastard.

Not sure what to do.

thats odd...try reflashing gapps or flashing a different gapps. Also you can get past that screen by touching all four corners of the screen. I think it has to be clockwise starting with the upper left but I could be wrong

I always am amused by the different results people have. I was looking at some of the other reviews and I'm kind of shocked with some of the talk about performance:eek:

DON'T GET ME WRONG...I'm not disagreeing with anyone...just making an observation. ;)

I scored the fastest Quadrant benchmark ever on a 1.2GHz kernel with this ROM/Kernel combo and it was a 1668.

My phone running CM 6.0.0 RC2 with Jake's 1.2GHz Kernel feels as fast as these benchmarks look...

I haven't tried other 1.2 GHz kernels but I think I will now to see if Jake's kernel is just that good...

New to Cyanogen Rom and super happy with it. Two questions for the pros: ADW launcher is taking a long time to redraw. I'm using chevy's 1200 as I was with BB before and other than the launcher it seems to be working great. Also, how do I block ads?

Yes, I did a complete wipe before installing. The launcher actually seems to have slowed down since i first installed the rom.

Any help is appreciated!

My advice is...

1) Change your advanced settings in SetCPU to (doesn't work if you have set your scaling to "performance"):

Code:
Sampling Rate: 32000 (Default is 30000)
Up Threshold: 50 (Default is 93)
Ignore nice load: 0 (Default is 0)
Powersave Bias: 0 (Default is 0)

2) Go to Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Performance Settings > Change the VM Heap Size to 32M

As I understand it, the VM Heap Size has to do with memory allocation for applications that could be taking up a lot of memory (ADW and LancherPro are guilty :D)

See where that gets ya ;)

His kernels definitely are that good. I am using jdflg's newest released today (1225 ghz) and still score benchmarks in the 160's. Jdflg's gives me the best battery life so I stick with his though.

For ad blocking I use this, it's still in beta but works pretty good. In that thread there is a link to report any apps that you are still getting ads from. Also if you decide to use it, when you open it you will get a message about it being expired just click the back/return button and click start ad block. He is aware of this and is planning on releasing a newer version very soon so check back on that link for updates.

I installed the new JDLFG kernels (tried 900 and 1050) over CM6 and wifi was broken...saw another post that someone tried it on another ROM and also had broken wifi.

I also had my CPU temps jump up to >140...couldn't get stable, gave up and went back.

Anyone else try the new JDLFG kernel...can you you confirm wifi works, and how are things going? JDLFG kernels have always been great on my phone before this...

I installed his 1GHz kernel and I'm not experiencing any problems. However I don't see the CPU temp in SetCPU. What app are you using to see the CPU temp? I can tell you that my battery temp is pretty low, 78.

I loaded the 1200MHz, 1100MHz, and 1000MHz kernels and could not boot with any of them (red light comes on during boot animation and then phone powers off before even getting to the unlock screen).

I did try Chevy's 1.2 GHz Kernel and it seems to be pretty responsive. SetCPU short benchmark was always around 170-180 but the long benchmark was aroun 440-450. Quadrant was in the mid 1400's (after the first test).

You can get the app TempMonitor from the market for CPU temps...that's what I use.

I thought that SetCPU also can display CPU temps in it's widget...

Thanks...interesting. A bug or two may have sneaked into this JDLFG release...

I definitely need to give these ago. I have to admit I haven't explored other kernels in a while, but each time I do I end up back at the P3 ones. They give me a great combination of speed and battery life.

Tho with all the new kernels out and about it may be time to give the kernels another looking over. Man I love the the Droid community. How much fricken choice do we have! It is wonderful

Apparently there was something wrong with my download. I downloaded the 1050 this time and the CPU temps are now showing up in SetCPU. But the temp has got to be wrong, it's showing up at -40F in SetCPU and at 31F in Temp Monitor. Both are way too low!! Also it did not want to turn on my wifi at first but I went into Wifi Settings and enabled it there and it connected.

I have successfully loaded his newest 900, 1050, 1100 and 1225 kernels. No bootloops, high temperatures, and wifi works fine. They work great just as his always do on my phone. The temps are probably a little better actually, his release note states he lowered the voltages.

I loaded the 950 and everything seems to be working properly.:) The CPU temps are ranging from 88 - 95 degrees F. Now let's see how battery life is.

I've tried two different GApps. Still the same issue with it not letting me get past the Android screen. Tapping the robot still does nothing.

Anyone got another link?

I used one I had from before and then I tried the ROM manager one and tried flashing that. No success.
