Root CyanogenMod 6.1/Android 2.2 Is here for GT540!

@Dudeman how are you getting the menu buttons to turn green?
Are you using ADW Launcher EX and the ADW gingerbread theme?
 
Could I have some more screenshots of the GingerBread theme please?
I may concider changing to it.
Also can you change back :P
 
First of all, i would like to thank dudeman1996 for the excelent tutorial to this upgrade. I followed the steps and all went well.
Now, i would like to update to "Boot v1.5 & System v4.4", but i don

I think I'll stay with the.. non gingerbread theme for a while, doesnt look to diffrent, i do like green though :p

Oh, also can you have a different lock screen background? :D

It's cool, yeah I love that wallpaper too! :D :p Ah okay, its pretty different; It's more of a darker experience, and the animations when you change screens are cool, and also the animations on a popup window are cool, kinda like iPhone, it starts small then gets bigger and bounces when it gets to the size, really cool animations and theme. :D

You cant get a different lock screen background..

Possible problem, i dont seem to be able to see any files/images sent by sms or mms.
When setting up my APN, i visited o2's web site and entered my phone number and they sent out the APN settings as a file via sms, i could see the sms itself but there was no APN settings file. Now the same thing happened today when my daughter sent me a picture via mms, i recieved the notification sms and downloaded the image but i was unable to see or find it. When i had 2.1 images sent by mms showed in the message, but now there not there even after i downloaded it.

Hi I just bought GT540 and joined this forum. I'd love to update to Android 2.1 too and would like to ask a couple of questions.


  1. Is this CyanogenMod 6.1/Android 2.1 suitable for GT540 Australia?
  2. Does network type WCDMA (for Japan) still work with it? I bought this phone as I can use in both Australia and Japan. So I'd like to find out that before flashing.
  3. KDZ Updater: there are 2 types . which is better for Australia?

Could anyone give me advice on these, please?

Hi, I installed the mod but my phone keeps saying that my sd card keeps being removed unexpectedly why is that?

EDIT: I have formatted it and still the same =/ please help =]

First, CyanogenMod is Android 2.2 not 2.1, it'll work in any country, if the phone works in Japan and Australia now, it'll work after you upgrade to 2.2. As for the KDZ Updater, it doesn't really matter which one you get because that'll get replaced with CyanogenMod, but people are saying the Europe Open one doesn't work too well, so I'd go for the Carphone Warehouse one as that's the one I used and everything worked perfectly. :)
