CyanogenMod-6 for Hero V6.0.0 - RC1

I flashed my sprint hero and put on cyanogenrom 6.0.0 RC1, but the default dictionary is no longer there for auto-correct purposes. I think its just not included in the rom but im new and stupid.

Is there any way to add this manually or anything like it? (Im not talking about the user custom dictionary, that would take forever to populate)

Thanks in advance!

Anybody have any ideas? I never realized how much i relied on it until it was gone...
I moved your posts to this thread where more folks may have some help for you.

Anyone have any ideas for Aviator753?

If you are using recovery v. 1.5.2, the wipe actually does take place. The message is in error. This is a known issue. If you are using 1.6.2, then try clearing some space on your SD card.

wait..i am wiping the cache even tho it's saying an error? i'm on 1.5.2

Couple of things you can do to improve battery life

First, have you tried wiping your battery stats? Charge phone to 100%, boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. Then reboot, and let the phone completely die 0%. Then charge back to 100% (keep phone on charger the whole time). See if that improves battery life, if not

Try one of the uncapped kernels [Kernel] BrainFuct Kernel - UncappedKernel - xda-developers (try the stable kernels)

Do a nandroid first before you flash a kernel

Or you can try collin's battery tweak (I have not tried but some say they can get 48 hours) Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers

Good luck and always do a nandroid first, let us know:)

do any of these methods work with any rom, specifically for darchdroid's 2.7 or 2.8? or are these for froyo only?

Wiping the battery stats is good anytime you flash a new rom

The other 2, not sure, nandroid and try them but I think any of the kernels would work, coliin's battery tweak I have no idea

I think that once you wipe, and load a new rom, the dictionary is cleared, and you start from scratch... It has happened for me every time I load a new rom, and while it is annoying, it isn't the end of the world. If you really need it back, you can run a nandroid restore, and you will get all the old stuff (including the old rom) back.

Not if your battery life sucks already, lol

haha..i'm debating on flashing darchdroid's 2.8 rom or this thread's rom..not sure which one tho..leaning more towards darchdroid's since it's less complicated.

froyo just seems confusing and complicated..all these 8/15 and 8/30 and nighties?? i mean i've never heard of any of these when flashing a rom lol..

definitely gonna try the battery methods

Try this one dude, it isn't too bad to get going... The nightlies are just updates where they fix (or break, lol) small things each day. You don't have to flash the nightly update every day.

The dictionary is the remembered words within the keyboard app. The words that come up for suggestions when you type. (the prediction)

That's what I figured but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

I use Swiftkey and my dictionary never erases when I flash a new rom. Dictionary is stored on my sd card

Like 330D said, pretty easy. Once you have the CM6 set up, all you have to wipe is cache and davlik cache. No need to wipe data when flashing a nightly. Nandroid takes a little time though:)

*forgive my ignorance*

can someone provide the links i need in order to flash this? i been reading around that i need to have nighties, rc1, kernals, etc but the link provided at the beginning of the thread only provides me with the froyo rom..

when i flash that rom, does it come with everything that i just mentioned? i don't wanna leave out anything when flashing froyo to my beloved hero. and yes..i'm new to 2.2 so i'm not aware of what's all needed for the process (done a lot of reading)

i'm coming from darchdroid's 2.7 rom

Keep in mind you must wipe data/davlik (and ext if you were using apps2sd).

To start with, you have 2 options, either download RC1 or Download the nightlies.

If you want RC1, you should be able to get that from the first link I believe
http://darchroms.pocketdevelopers.com/cm/update-cm-6.0.0-Heroc-RC1-signed.zip

If you want to flash the nightlies (same thing as RC1, but of course they are updated nightly, so they are different each night) you would go here Index of /cm/nightly/heroc/ and download the zip of your choice.

After you flash the ROM (either RC1 or nightly) if you want all of the google stuff (I recommend it) you would flash this:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/88-google-addon-mdpi-20100816/

After you flash the ROM (either RC1 or nightly) you can then install (flash) the uncapped kernel which you can download here:
[Kernel] BrainFuct Kernel - UncappedKernel - xda-developers

After flashing the kernel, you can install (flash) the battery tweak which you would get from here:
Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers

That should be about it.

Is it ok to flash any Sprint Hero approved radio, like the ones listed on Flipz website, with this ROM? I currently have baseband version 2.42.01.04.27 but my reception is not that great and wanted to try some others out. Thanks!

Yes you may. Make sure to never flash a GSM Hero Radio, it will brick your phone. I have used a couple different radio's from Flipz' site, try a few out and see what works best for you.

so after I restart my phone....My widgets have a "problem loading widget". running CM6 with nightlies. anyone have a fix for this. Having problems with Overclock widget and Jorte.
