CyanogenMod-6 for Hero V6.0.0 - RC1

so i just realized after the 9/11 nightly, that my text autocorrect isnt working on any keyboard. yes, i have gone through the settings for each. anyone getting this or know of a fix? I am mainly using the droid X multitouch, but im fairly sure it has worked with this keyboard, so im thinking it was a nightly?

This link gives the vvm zip, and another APK file.

The zip is for Sprint VVM and the apk is for Sprint Navigation, this is for people wanting to use Sprint instead of Google

No, the apk does not needed to be loaded anywhere special, load as you would any other apk

For anyone having troubles with GPS not locking on, I highly recommend downloading GPS Staus from the Android market.

After download press menu, settings, GPS & Sensors, Manage A-GPS state, press download

Got a lock for Google Nav in 5 seconds, much better than 3-5 min. Don't know yet if you have to download more than once but the download only took a couple of seconds

after flashing, it said it recovered 53 of my apps. i had more than this on darkdroid's 2.7 but when i go into the app drawer, only about 20-30 show. where the hell are the others!?

is froyo only compatible with some of the apps? i checked the market in the downloads section but they weren't there.

i want my old linkpack app..the new one makes me feel my phone is slowwwww..i got a 2.03 in 2 seconds :(

Edit: also, before flashing, i was gonna do a radio update but decided not to since i wasn't to keen on adding it to my device. so i just updated my PRL from 68 to 70. flashed froyo after. i only get one bar now opposed to getting two bars with darkdroid 2.7. i read that it's like this cuz there are only 4 bars but what's going on for my decreased signal with froyo? could it have been the prl update? should i do the radio update?

I would not worry about the how many bars you have, not important and no decreased signal, download speedtest to see if you are getting the same upload/download speeds

All apps should be there:confused:

lol they left..btw..gps seems to work great! my handscent isn't in the app drawer anymore lol..i mean what's going on?!

i'll download the speedtest, but what am i exactly looking for in regards to stats and speed? what is it supposed to normally be?

Speedtest will show you upload/download speeds, having 1 bar for me with cm6 has not changed anything regarding signal or upload/download speeds. I would think if there was an issue with cm6 I would have seen a big difference right away. No dropped calls or any other issues regarding the one bar for me

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! just got my first reboot on froyo!! no jit enabled yet!! wtf lol

happened when i searched for speed test in the market..thx andy ;)

Is an autokiller needed for this rom? i mean i have system monitor in my notification area and i heard that having ram hover around 60mb is good. that's on aggressive settings tho

Lol:(

I've heard you can use autokiller, but not real familiar with the settings

on other android devices, whenever they pull their notification down..there are settings within it that they can turn on and off such as wifi, bluetooth, music, etc. how come froyo doesn't come with this?

or is this only available on galaxy s devices? *it was a samsung captivate*

Never have seen that, sounds cool though:)

Keep in mind you must wipe data/davlik (and ext if you were using apps2sd).

To start with, you have 2 options, either download RC1 or Download the nightlies.

If you want RC1, you should be able to get that from the first link I believe
http://darchroms.pocketdevelopers.com/cm/update-cm-6.0.0-Heroc-RC1-signed.zip

If you want to flash the nightlies (same thing as RC1, but of course they are updated nightly, so they are different each night) you would go here Index of /cm/nightly/heroc/ and download the zip of your choice.

After you flash the ROM (either RC1 or nightly) if you want all of the google stuff (I recommend it) you would flash this:
Google Addon MDPI-20100816 - CyanogenMod Forum

After you flash the ROM (either RC1 or nightly) you can then install (flash) the uncapped kernel which you can download here:
[Kernel] BrainFuct Kernel - UncappedKernel - xda-developers

After flashing the kernel, you can install (flash) the battery tweak which you would get from here:
Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers

That should be about it.

Awesome breakdown! Thanks CC! :)

do we really need the battery tweak?

i am already getting good battery life, can go 2-3 days before it dies

im running, CM6 w/ nightly 913, & uncapped #13 kernel, & overclocked to 710mhz.

if i go to 768mhz, my phone either locks up, or just keeps rebooting.

on another note, im using AUTOKILLER set @ optimum, & my VM heap is set @ 24m,,, wouldnt autokiller & vm heap compete w/ each other?

battery tweak isn't needed but it does give you a boost in battery. optional

i'd think you'd only need one of those active. since you already have the settings for your froyo..i'd uninstall the autokiller.

can anyone confirm if the facebook sync works with froyo for our heros? i haven't tried it yet and don't wanna be disappointed in doing so. i gave up on this long ago when 2.1 custom rom first came out

Works for me just fine with the CM6 9/9 Nightly. Also Twitter and Google, of course.

does anybody have issues w/ the clockworkmod recovery in CM6, b/c a few days ago i flashed the clockworkmod from the CM6 settings (ROM Manager), & when i tryed to go into recovery (either through rom manager, or by pressing power & home @ same time), my phone just shuts off, & needs a battery pull.

So i went back to my RA-recovery-v1.6.2.img & it worked fine.

Also, my camera doesnt work in CM6, AT ALL.

Another concern, is that ALOT of other ppl have the CDMA HERO running CM6 & are overclocked to 768mhz w/o any issues, but I cant go past 710mhz w/o phone going into a boot loop, or just locking up,,, any ideas why?

i do have a uncapped kernel #13, & overclock widget installed

If you made a Nandroid backup with the Amon Ra recovery image, it probably will not work with the ClockworkMod recovery image. Also, I thought one could enter the recovery console by holding down on the volume button and pressing the power button.

From what I have heard, each Sprint HTC Hero is different in regards to what it can be overclocked to. Some people experience problems when setting the frequency past 710 MHz, and others are able to achieve stability with 768 MHz.

so how would i get clockworkmod recovery to work, if i have a nandroid w/ Amon RA.

IDK, i enter recovery by holding the power & home button.

So getting to 768, has nothing to do w/ which kernel, etc i have installed?
