Root CyanogenMod 7 RC

now that the full release candidate is out, any impressions for this gingerbread ROM? worth upgrading to over virtous froyo rom?

how is the battery life? stability? bugs?

I don't believe a release candidate is available for the incredible yet. I don't see it on rom manager or cyanogen's website. Only nightly #38 available.

http://mirror.teamdouche.net/

But the nightlies are still pretty stable, and honestly, in my opinion, gingerbread(right now) doesn't offer too much over other roms. The battery life and "smoothness" are nice but can be achieved on other roms. I enjoyed it for the month or so I ran it for but was nothing there that I couldn't give up.

Downloading now . I was actually trying to go back to a Sense ROM today but couldn't get any to load so back to CM7 glad there s a RC now

I tried doing a full wipe then flashing rom, didn't work. I got to the welcome screen where it instructs you to touch the android. I could not get past there. Restored a backup and flashed it over it. That works, anyone else have issues with doing a fresh install?

Are you using the new clockwork jim? Seems like no current sense roms will load with clockwork 3.****

Yeah I am and I Tried to flash and older version and it failed everytime via rom manager. I guess I Could have tried to do it manually but I was being lazy

i did this as well, was running nightly 24 and wiped manually the dalvik, cache, and data. stuck at start screen and am currently restoring the backup i made before i flashed. rather disappointing way to start the release candidates.

I added rc over build 38 without a wipe and did just fine. I did a backup first just to play it safe.

This is the way to do it! Flashing RC1 requires you to flash over a nightly (wipe cache/dalvik) or else you'll be stuck at the "Welcome to Android Android. Also, nightly #38 is the same as RC1 from what I've heard.

This.

I'm not going to bother. I'll wait for a meaningful nightly/RC over what I have right now.

i am still on 2.5.0.5. recovery. and RC1 worked for over flashing over #38.. #39 is out now. but I am still back to skyraider within minutes. Personally.

I"m using CWM 3 and it flashed over a previous nightly just fine. However I really wanted to flash Myn or RR and couldn't get it to work with the new CWM. Ohh well I'm really happy with CM7

The RC1 was flawed but now it's fixed. I can't figure out why RC1 was released and the nightlies are still being built. I was getting tired of the daily flash anyway, but I was just curious.

I used ROM manager to download this late last night, is it fixed since then because I still can't open apps like gmail or titanium backup. Should I just delete the RC1 I have downloaded and redownload?

Yes, it was a bad download. The latest in RM is perfect and works flawlessly. If you have a nandroid go back and flash the new one.

I've been running RC since yesterday evening and it's running great haven't tested everything but haven't had any issues. Hopefully only going to be using this phone for another week haha

i downloaded this ROM through rom manager last night and it auto installed from this morning. I woke up at about 8 AM, and just finished setting up my phone. It took less than a true 60 minutes, with my backup pro, and my settings that were saved in Launcher Pro, but I had to do some work this morning as well.

It's very slick, much faster. I miss Sense only a little. I have 2 backups I maintain. I have gingerbread and my virtuous rom. I like to switch back and forth to compare things, but I think CM7 will be my default going forward.

There was an initial RM download that was bad but the team fixed it rather quickly. I got a good one but there were a lot of folks that did not. Nonetheless, it's now fixed and working just fine. I installed over #38 so there was no real time other than wiping cache stuff and doing another backup. Still haven't seen a TB yet Jim but I call regularly for a demo to get my hands on. I'll be ordering one within a week of launch if you give it the thumbs up. ;-)

so I have ever only installed 1 ROM, Virtuous. what is the recommended procedure for everything that I should do before installing CyanogenMod 7 RC?

back up via Titanium first? anything else?

will I have to reinstall all my apps?
