Root CyanogenMod 7 RC

yes (though I used mybackup root instead)

on another forum I was told to format the card from inside cyanogen mod,, so I tried that

yikes, now I am stuck with the blue Cyanogen mod reboot loop. is it safe to pull the battery and reinstall?

Yeah, I edited my last post but evidently not in time so check it out. You can battery pull, then reinstall battery. Hold volume down while pressing power button to get into hboot. Then select recovery to get back into Clockwork. Then do all the wipes I mentioned before loading the Rom/Gapps. No problem, you're fine.

ugh, so I wiped all, and the best I can get to is a boot loop. I think the problem is with my sd card

now the install "won't take"...it won't mount the card, even though it WILL install the card. in clokworkmod recovery

how am I supposed to partition it? I need to do it on my computer since my phone wont boot

You don't need or necessarily even want to partition it. You can format it if you'd like. If you do that, use the computer and format to FAT32 if you have a card reader you can use and if that card reader/Windows recognizes the card. Could be a fluke coincidence or could be related to the CM install. Several users have experienced SD mounting issues when installing CM. If you decide to format, be sure to move the files currently on the card to the PC so you can restore them back to the wiped/newly formatted card.

yep, I gave it another go tonight, with quick and easy success. no idea why?

anyways loved this rom. big question -I just rebooted, and everything dissapeared from all home screens? is that supposed to happen?

I flashed the latest nightly of CM7 yesterday and am loving it. Very stable and a great all around rom. Only thing I am missing is 720p video, but honestly that isn't a big deal. Phone is faster, 2.3 improvements are awesome (loving the new keyboard) and battery life seems to be better. I am running 1.1GHz overclock now and 150MHz underclock (when screen is off) and it is helping a lot.

I've been running the RC for about a week. I flip back and forth between the Incredible and a DroidX. Until this RC, the Incredible was always my second choice due to its amazingly crappy battery life. I've used the stock 2.1 rom, stock 2.2 rom, and many versions of CM6. All of them sucked for battery life, although CM6 was better than the others.

Battery life on the CM7 RC is extremely good! It's a whole new phone! This is now (again) my primary phone.

I haven't even tried to use the camera or video, but the GPS works great and other basic functions are all perfect. Wipe EVERYTHING before installing (i.e. follow the CM7 instructions).

Meh. I am seriously unimpressed. Can't run GMail or YouTube without either app force closing as they launch. Youtube, I can live without, but I've got to have my mail.

Did everything as per instructions.

No noticeable increase in speed, and without GMail, it might as well be a flip phone for me. Going back to sense and 2.2. Complete waste of my time, wouldn't recommend it to people I don't like.

Spent over four hours messing with this pile of ... I just don't see what you people are going on about.

Yeah, it's a release candidate so if you're not willing to mess with it, then wait for the stable release. I suspect fixing permissions under Rom Manager then rebooting would have solved your issues, since it did for me, so maybe try it again when stable release is available. Personally, I think CM7 is excellent and am very appreciative of the devs.

If you wiped data, cache and Dalvik cache and still had all the force close problems, you caught a bit of bad luck. Haven't heard of many issues after a proper wipe since way back in the early nightlies.

Are you using the new clockwork jim? Seems like no current sense roms will load with clockwork 3.****

Hmm...I wasn't aware there were problems with using the new clockwork. I wish I had known that before upgrading. That would explain why every time I tried to load CyanogenMod 6.1 it brings me back into Virtuous 3.2.

Is there a fix? How come I was able to load OMFGB, but when I went from OMFGB to CyanogenMod it brought me back to Virtuous?

EDIT: Scratch that, after some poking around I realize there's problems with the CWM 3.x versions. I'm gonna flash the old one...

I flashed it a few days ago, with no real problems. Wipe everything.

Phone seems a lot smoother, and a bit faster. Battery life seems better, I'm getting 15 hours with low to moderate usage on stock battery.

Gmail, exchange, camera, all working.

there was a weird thing, when I first installed it, the market started re-downloading and installing all my old apps. I didn't really want that, but wasn't too terrible.

I'm really impressed, I was thinking about going back to stock sense rom for a while, but didn't want to give up all the options of CM6, now with CM7 I'm 100% satisfied.
