Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082469

Has anyone checked to see if there is a setting in the sms app to split messages that are too big?

yes open your texting app and hit the menu key.. click settings there is an option to split texts every 160 characters...

And that you have pretty much done already my friend. Just wanted to say (that for me at least) this is really not even a beta so to speak. Ive seen other ports that have a plethora of non working elements throughout the rom. Really really great work!

Oh and I believe the "roaming indicator off" text in the statusbar (just below the power widgets and above the time display in the lockscreen) can be fixed by editing this string

<string name="roamingText1">Roaming Indicator Off</string>

Within the framework-res.apk (res/values/strings.xml) to Boost mobile.
I figure this should work as it did for me when I was playing with my honeycomb theme. Except the string in the stock rom was

<string name="zz_roamingText1">Boost Mobile</string>

Almost identical. I cannot try as of now but, hopefully someone else can test out my theory and post results.

Hope this helps.

I can't seem to find the values within Res. In framework-res.apk (res/values/strings.xml) I found .XML inside Res but nothing about strings there either. Could someone please explain further.

Hroark just wanted to mention something that i seem to have run into cant see thats its
been posted yet.. I really do text alot especially with my ladyfriends lol but last nite
and few minutes ago i had them forward my texts bak cause they didt know wat it meant
it seams that after awile of texting normally it starts just showing up as numeric codes
just wanted to mention.. but im looking into some of the bug fixes....

I had the same problem I think that is text that are above 160 characters

EDIT : There is a setting in the messaging app that says split txt every 160 characters maybe that is the fix .

Cool, I haven't installed CM, but there is no option for the stock 2.2 sms app to do this.

yea i had sms problems a page or so back lol.. but cm7.1 has tons of new settings and options plenty of ways to customize it to your own taste.. my
opinion it is a well put together and is super responsive.. glad to have it...

After I installed CM7 my MAC address changed is this normal?

Mine did too. Weird I know

Sorry forgot to post this earlier. Purponic just reminded me
Ya the mac address will change every "install" of this rom, I have my router set to reject unknown mac addy's let me tell you testing this at first was a pain, first I thought wifi wasnt working for me.:(

hmmm I am not sure what the limits are on text messages, but i am sure there is one

maybe some of you can install another texting app and see what happens with that

i was able to reproduce this

i sent myself a text message that exceeded the 145 character limit

and it was all garbled

nice find

i have no clue how to fix it
If you exceed 160 characters it changes to mms message instead of sms. It is funny that at 145 characters it garbles.
Does your MAC end with 2D:57? I wonder if we all have the same MAC address now.

Nope. It ends in

B0:BF

Good to know.lol
The first 3 sets will typically stay the same as the actual mac. I dont know if the last ones are random generated or if there is a pattern.

with all these problems is this even worth d/l?

I'm not trying this because its over my head besides I'm still learning about root and all the stuff you can do with it.. But YES this is worth it. Remember this is the first time it has ever been done these guys are doing what Samsung and boost never wanted us to do. This is going to allow hroark13 to build this up the right way. It will get better trust me. There will ne a version that you just click and your done. This is really ground breaking stuff that we are seeing happen.

How do I check my quad scores?
quadrant standard from market
I did a fresh install and although pressing speaker still causes problem (people can't hear me on phone calls) the random reboots have stopped. I also found a way to get speaker working without muting me for those who want speaker phone bad enough. Call a number, I call my voicmail, turn speaker on then add call. Speaker phone will stay enabled. Now call whoever you originally planned on calling. Crazy but still better then nothing. Plus you don''t have to reboot phone.

And since I mentioned voicemail, has anyone figured out how to add the call voicemail bbutton back to dialer?

If You Want To Use Speaker, You Would Have To Turn Mute On Then Turn It Back Of And They Would Be Able To Hear You. If You Turn Speaker Off In The Same Conversation Do The Same Thing. Mute On/Off.

swear i tried that and it didn't work ...... lol

ty very much way easier now. do you know how to make the LAB dial voicemail by chance?

I love this rom and have not found any serious problems i installed all the hotfixes and every issue addressed was solved the only thing is that the buttons on the bottom of the phone no longer vibrate is there a way to fix that also i cant send or receive mms and one more thing after i press the speaker button no one could hear me until i mute and un mute not a big deal at all just letting you know nice work on this thank you i am definitely donating right now:D

I must say, and I hope this is not a considered a waste of forum space but WOW HROARK!!! Your work is amazing and quite frankly the Prevail community would be no where close to where it is today without your contributions. Of course there are others but between your kernel, clockwork and now this... f***ing amazing sir. Please keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to us all!

Solute.

Now that we have Cyanogen. has anyone tested the S2E app from the market? Similar to the Dark Tremors A2SD but for the cyanogenmod 7.

Not sure which will run better..

i got it. i changed the roam indicator to say Boost mobile. the file should include hroarks hotfix4

beta 1a_hotfix4a.zip

Appreciate the effort. I tried this modification out since I'm not a fan of the "Roaming off" tag either. Unfornately this caused my prevail to bootloop, luckily I made a nandroid backup prior to flashing...CWM ftw.

did u try turning phone off & on when u c that android_ screen didn't change?

i had to hold the power button & turn it back off a few times when i thought it was looping. started it right back up.

Yeah I watched the cyanogenmod Android guy skateboard around over and over again...felt like I was watching Tony Hawk. I removed the battery 3 times to start over then finally just rebooted into CWM and restored last backup. Gonna try playing around with it some more.
