Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

just edit the androidmanifest.xml inside the hiddenmenu.apk folder if thats what you want to do. editing the manifest may screw up the signature on the apk tho and the phone might reject it

use notepad++ for xml editing too

i made a copy of the apk cuz i screw things up alot. lol maybe you can get hiddenmenu.apk to install on cm7. i saw a video where a guy changes the build prop sdk version so the app can install..

maybe you can get it to install.
 
idk if its related, and sorry if its not, flashed this, awesomesauce, but didnt like how it ran, wiped wiped wiped, restored through clockwork recovery, wiped wiped, couldnt get market to download, odin back to stock, odin to root, shabbymod .9, still cant download from market, it starts and says download starting, download paused" i cant update any apps either. tried all the fixes i could find online, i did notice when i ran mybackup root, after flashing it said "to restore apps to another phone you must get pro version" other phone? i've flashed bout shabbymod and ctmod and ive never had that said, so those this rom change the phone in anyway?

wait you are on shabbymod.9 or cyanogenmod 7?
 
ok im worried now, ive odin back to stock as can be, and still cannot download from market, and this is after flashing cm7 then going back to shabbymod

i did make one, ok lets clear it up.

backed up shabbymod, then proceded to flash cm7 tried it for awhile didn't like it yet (sometimes beta arent all ready for me yet) went back into recovery, wiped wiped wiped, restored my shabbymod backup, wiped wiped wiped, then after like an hour it said i had an update for one of the apps, so i clicked on it, and thats when it started, it would go into "download starting" then like a sec later it would say "download paused" ive tried everything, currently i have the phone, odin back to as stock as can be no root or anything and its still giving me that

I had a issue with Market not downloading... I downloaded version 3.0.26.. worked fine

so u wiped cache partition and dalvik cache. try factory reset. then odin then shabby. try a different version of market.

ok so i rooted my phone again, since i odin back to stock, installed the market 3.0.26 now it gives me a "not enough space error" was i suppose to run any kind of script or anything after reverting back to shabbymod from cm7 beta?

and before anyone comes along saying why am i posting here, since at the moment its not relating to cm7 bta, its only because this happened after i flashed cm7 beta, then restored away from it back to shabbymod

back up your sd card and then format it, and factory reset your phone to stock and then use shabbyfied to root your phone and get shabbtmod. make sure you delete your cache and dalvik cache.

I'm not sure if you've flashed a froyo kernel like Kouma's yet when you flashed back, but that could be some of your issues.... CM7 runs on a gingerbread based kernel, while Shabby is Froyo based.

ok so when i try to install hiddenmenu.apk i ran alogcat. im guessing the error is what is in red. and it says E/PackageParser( 1023): Package com.android.hiddenmenu has no certificates at entry res/drawable/icon.png; ignoring!
i attatched the file and it on line 72

A lot of times clearing the cache and data of the market helps, wiping the dalvik cache and factory reset. One of the three always does the trick for me.
 
HELP! i am having two problems

1. phone calls coming in take about four rings before my phone actually realizes its recieving a call. i dont know if this is a problem since i didnt clear anything or factory reset so i will try this.

2. does anyone know a way of reinstalling swype on the phone. swype comes stock on the prevail and i liked it, is there a way to get it back.

try flashing this in clock work mod

it will format your cache to RFS

no i just tried installing swype.apk from the shabby folder and it installs but FCs

if you have not already sign up for the beta, download and use it, its sooooo much better then the one that came with the phone, I have been using the beta on the prevail since I got the phone, and it works perfectly on cm7 as well.

how did you try installing? did you just copy the .apk to the system folder? or did you hit install? you only need to copy it into the /system/app folder.

Also to use it the original also has a lib file in /system/lib libSwypeCore.so so you would need to copy that in as well.
after copy both into there respective folders you need to delete all the dalvik-cache and reboot.

i just copied the apk to my sd card and pressed install. so what is teh lib file for? would the same apply to hiddenmenu?

Root Call Blocker Pro picks up the line and disconnects it on the first ring. To bad it doesn't work with CM7 though. I wonder how the built in one works.
 
Just wanted to point out for users that use WiFi tether and were getting random phone reboots like me...

Since I installed CM7 2 days ago, not one forced reboot.
 
Ok i have a wierd issue i installed CWM via Odin. IF i catch it right as odin reboots the phone i can access CWM but after a full reboot i get the stock android recovery????
