Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

After a few days of running this, can anyone comment on battery life?

yes the battery is a lot better when useing the stock rom i had to charge every 4 hours D: idky just did then useing shabbys mod gave me 6 hours of charge now with cm7 i can charge up to 100% leave the phone alone and about 8 to 10 hours i still have 50% left i was amazed i was listing to music playing a game and no problems or worrys about battery life

also *note* that the audio on cm7 is a bit over amped by that what i mean is if u turn it all the way up it will blow your head phones -.-* i need a new pair !!! but keeping the audio at a easy comforting level i get a decent sound :O but useing player pro`s *dsp* the bass will kill my head phones because of the dsp manger for cm7 which means there is way to many dsp mangers :) i know not the point but heres a tip

______________________________
tip1:dont turn your audio interface all the way up
tip2:use only one dsp manger that will keep it from distorting
tip3:keep your beats fast and your bass down low :D

bhays3:
so from what i've seen doing a little research..some of the issues with the speakerphone have either not existed or been removed by people who used s2e(simple2ext)

it's only for CM7 which makes me think that it might be better for us to use since it's more or less designed for it anyway.

i tried importing from dt a2sd and only tinkered with it briefly but didn't seem to work..so i thought perhaps a fresh copy of cm7 with hotfix 4 and s2e might work out well..i won't be able to test it out til i get back from work tonight

so if anyone's got some free time feel free to test it out...if not i'll be back later tonight and see what i can find out
Yea I Posted About S2E Ina Previous Post Here. Maybe U Missed It. But heres a lil setup i used to get the most space out the phone & get a2sd & s2e working 2gether. Maybe it will work out the same for u guys..

I installed Latest CWM & CYANOGENMOD 7.1 Hroark.
THEN INSTALLED THE GAPPS, HOTFIX4. A2SD Beta4 On Ext3 Partition. (EXT3 No Probs Here.) Thru CWM.
(I Usually Use Ext2 For 2nd Partition But No Journalizing On Ext2, & I Have Problems With EXT4 Not Reading The Partition With A2SD)
Ok, Once Rebooted Went Into Settings/CYANOGEN MOD Settings/ Applications.
Checked Allow Moving Apps & Selected Install Location, External
I Installed A2SDGUI, Rebuilt Dalvik Moved, Selected Apps On SD, Zip Align, Etc..
Once Rebooted.
Installed S2E from market. Ran S2E & Then Settings & Selected Import,
To Import DarkTremors Into S2E.
Rebooted Again & Ran S2E, All Checked. & A2SD Is Now On S2E. Handles The Apps Just Like A2SD But Also Links Download Cache.

Tried With DTA2SD Alone & Space Differed.

Whats goin on with the speaker?

I will def check that now though & c what i can come up with.

we still have the mute un mute issue... and on a call today i put it on speaker and person on other end was getting a real bad echo..

yea on mines, when using the speaker on a call, it wont work @ all. other party cannot hear @ all. mute works when on headset, add a call works, but speaker phone dont work on the call. i can hear the person but they connot hear me.

also speaker vol is really low with ringtones. I Used the dsp for that, but for the speaker phone issue, that def wont fix it..

we need people who are running Froyo based ROMS to help too

for instance one person running CM discovered that they can not send MMS while connected to wifi

It will save us time if someone with a Froyo based ROM can tell us if it works on their phone

I personally dont feel like reverting back to Froyo everytime I want to see if something worked before

So you can help if you choose to do so, I do not blame you for not wanting to put your only phone on a beta ROM

Yeah Hroark, mms does work using wifi on Froyo. Im still running ShabbyMod. I just like to make sure I read the thread several times before I do anything so I have a good understanding of the issues turning up. Being that im still using 2.2 I volinteer. just hit me up and Ill test whatever.. Thanks for the dev to all. you guys are awesom!

Hey HROARK did samsung release an GB open source for the prevail? last time i checked there as only SPH-M820 Kernel2.tar.gz and SPH-M820 open source froyo.zip. now they have a file that saya SPH-M820 GB opensource zip version EJ06. if it is will this help fix some cm7 issues?

yeah try to keep each sent text message to around about 140
characters if you dont it will be recieved as code.. there is a split texts
option at 160 option but i havnt testes.. has anyone tested this yet???

Hey guys,

Should I installed Kourma or Shabby kernel before I do this? Or does CynaogenMod come with it's own kernel?

BTW: I'm currently running on the stock kernel. I haven't really done anything to the phone other then root it ;)

Thanks!

aww no boot audio with this port? :( now i miss my resident evil boot up

Yeah John I feel your pain. That bootanimation and poweron sound were a perfect match. Though I've gotten use to the new skateboard android kid. One day we shall be able to log back into Umbrella Corp.

This version of CyanogenMod runs it's own modified Gingerbread kernel. Those other kernels won't work with it since they are Froyo based.

Just wanted to say, I've been running CM7 beta since day one and still haven't found a problem. My phone is working great. I do have the speaker issue but I can work around that for now. Added the CM Blue theme.......DYNAMITE.....I am blown away every time I use my phone.......Thanks

Just to clarify incase some people are unaware... Boost limits us to 160 characters text on the intended stock froyo system but, they created a fix that splits anything longer into a second text so when it passes through the network to be sent, it is sent as two text. the person you are texting actually sees it as two seperate messages. its always has been like that since i singed on with boost 3 years ago. Im sure that cm7 doesnt account for that being that its mostly designed for contract type phones/carriers that don't limit the size of their data plans. Or at least its not as low as our pre-paid service. Im sure Hroark didn't take that into account because he is focused on just getting all the more important thing to work and will have to be fixed at an appropreate time. for now just hit send before you hit the 160 mark and continue to write your message after. the person you are texting won't even know the difference. ;)

EDIT: "SEE NEXT POST" evidently, cn7 does account for this.

If you go into the message application and goto into settings there is an option to split text messages by size. ive tested it with 160 and it works just fine.
hope this helps.

has anyone else had the issue with the dock disappearing?? its happened twice to me and the only way i have been able to get it back is to reboot the phone?

This happens to me all the time. Just simple pressing of the applications button in the middle makes the dock go away. It happen so much I had to switch to Zeam launcher.
