Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

Ok got Mod installed! wow! phone is 10000% better..
I thought I would write my experience down for everyone
Stock phone/rom Rooted

1. Used Odin to install CWM ( had some wierd issue with CWM not loading unless i caught it right after reboot)

2. Installed rom as per Page 1.

3 Installed hotfix4 my phone still shows Roaming Indicator off....

4 installed google apps from Page 1 still testing i did install maps

5. turned on haptic feedback for screen and keyboard.

6. Installed Pandora working good.




all i have to say so far is AMAZING, I still cant get over how fast this phone is now.

Thank you all for the great work!
I installed cm7 lastnight!
My jaw dropped when I saw it boot!
But, I had to odin back to stock and build back up to where I started from.
The reason being was reception and no 3g.
I installed the hot fixes right after flashing cm7 and then rebooted it went back to recovery then instead of pushing re-boot system i went and installed the hot fixes in secession one right after the other.
When i finally re-booted the system i saw no 3g and the bars were down to 1.I toggled the airplane mode and still no 3g and bars still at 1 sometimes 2.
Im wondering if in cm7 I should go ahead and try the #3282# to get more bars?
It seems to work good back in shabby mod?

#3282# wont work in cm

the toggeling AP mode was fixed in hot fix 4 and was not related to signal issues, it was related to DNS issue

instead of comparing number of bars between the 2 roms, compare signal strength

settings - about phone - status

Thank you for your input Hroark everything seems to be fine! Signal went from
-90dbm 0 asu to -86dbm 0 asu

you should probably forget about the hidden menu

I tried porting it and it didn't work so i read around and from what i saw they don't work on cm7. The only way to use it is to restore back to a froyo rom, make your changes then restore back to cm7
 
Ok, so installed rom and all hotfixs,, phone is blazing fast, has more internal storage, BUT!!!! im having problem with audio.. as in its over amplified ---- i changed the DB to 0 lowered the system volume with Android Assistant and use EQ and still over powered, i like my volume max but its to distorted and over driven, sounds good 1 notch from max..but cant hear for crap when its in pocket or something . anyone else having this problem?

I noticed this... makes for better sound quality in headphones... how ever in the car on on the speakers everything is distorted.

I have the same issue. And haveing an issue where callers on speakerphone are hearing a bad echo.



other than that and the whole mute/unmute this rom rocks!
 
Kinda I can't turn volume all the way down when on calls. Everybody can hear who is talking on the other line. Even if they're a few feet away.

Yeah i guess that is true, not a deal breaker, this rom is amazing i just noticed my phone even charges faster...love the amazing speed. Like i said one thing i did to help, is lower system volume, Android Assistant(17 functions) AMAZING app--- and changed DB to 0 and used the EQ app :) that helped...i did notice a problem with random ADW themes, the wallpaper would distort/glitch and the screen indicator would disappear under wall paper

i have to agree battery life is pretty decent i cant complain about it..
im getting really good usage out of it..
 
I have noticed that calls also come out of the rear speaker when speaker phone is off... that is why calls seem so loud even at low volume.
 
so lets say i want to update my prl or something. i go back to shabby and then what? i have to start fresh if i want to go back to cm7? sounds like a big hassle. or would a back up on cwm not change the prl back?
 
heh...i didn't notice it til you said something but yeah it does play out of the speaker...wonder if thats why speaker doesn't seem as loud as it used to be when its on too
 
Installed hotfix 4 and my data issue is still the same. Did I need to wipe dalvik or something as well?

Working now, I manually installed instead of using ACS updater this time.

make sure it does install. sometimes i used to think some zips installed but they didnt. when you install it make sure at the bottom it says installation complete. also have you tied calling boost to see if any towers in your area are down?

Same here.
Effects newer tracks (music) more it seems. Older music was typically mastered at lower volume and so the boost this rom gives is great for these. New music, not so much. As posted, bringing the lower frequencies down in the eq helps.
 
i have a question for hroakr13, i dont have the prevail i have a precedent same phone for the most part other than i can't run the prevail roms and so on, i was wondering what you would need to possibly port the rom to the precedent also, would be nice to have a alternative to the stock rom on these phones as u can do alot more with it. you can send me private msgs or reply here or in the precedent section as to what would be needed to get a port of the rom and cwm for our phones, thanks...
 
I've also seen the. 3g icon change to 1x but only once and while I can't be sure of what I was doing when it happened, I definately wasn't texting. What I thinik happened in my case is that the phone lost 3g signal because of where I was and went looking for another network to connect to and tried to go 1x because most phones have two radios for wireless carrier connections. I understand ours only has one radio for 3g? Sound right?
 
so from what i've seen doing a little research..some of the issues with the speakerphone have either not existed or been removed by people who used s2e(simple2ext)

it's only for CM7 which makes me think that it might be better for us to use since it's more or less designed for it anyway.

i tried importing from dt a2sd and only tinkered with it briefly but didn't seem to work..so i thought perhaps a fresh copy of cm7 with hotfix 4 and s2e might work out well..i won't be able to test it out til i get back from work tonight

so if anyone's got some free time feel free to test it out...if not i'll be back later tonight and see what i can find out
