Root CyanogenMod 7 Unofficial Beta 5 02/20/12

Thank you guys so much for this! I was running CTMOD which is also great, but CM7 is a no brainer for me! So far I came across these issues:

- Apparently I can receive pictures but not videos. Maybe CM7 had nothing to do with it, I only received one video so far so can't confirm.
- Alarm clock gives me this message "Alarm silenced after 0 minutes" yep, zero minutes. I woke at 10am today >.<!! It appears to have fixed itself after a reboot, but maybe you should look into it, this is something that must not fail no matter what! Apparently the problem is the stock clock app, I tried AlarmDroid and it didn't give me any problems.
- Voicemail is not working properly for me. I think this was already mentioned. I changed the voicemail number to my number to "fix" it. No big issue here but still annoying having to call myself instead of the actual voicemail.
- Might be only me, but themes go crazy... They work fine for quite some time but then the icons start changing to system theme or sometimes the phone reboots. The reboots only happened with the ICS theme twice, at the 2d time I decided to uninstall all themes and play it safe.
- Camera 360 Ultimate FCs a lot when trying to use certain effects. Same happens to the MIUI camera.

Leaving those little annoyances on the side, this is the best ROM for the Prevail so far. Love you guys :)
 
Whats so special about this ROM? its missing a lot of apps, i guess that is for speed. Can someone give me a good reason to keep this loaded?

And what do i put in the Domain/Username: input box for domain?

i use to think it wasn't worth it until i finally knew how to use it. now ill never go back:). its better all around, plus its cyanogenmod mannnnnnnnnnnn:D
 
just give it a try man youll love it trust me. if you have any questions just post it, everyone is more than welcome to help you out

Well, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is a much smoother and faster Android ROM.
CyanogenMod 7 is the most raved about and highest rated custom ROM out there for android.

Besides all that there is one reason... CUSTOMIZATION!!! You can build and make your device perform the way you want it to. almost entirely with very few limits.

Another problem I've come across is how SLOW my 3G is. Seems I was getting better 3G back when I was on stock. I don't know if that was due to the PRL update or maybe I'm missing something. Either way it is noticeable that my 3G is much slower now.

I've read there some people are using some sort of 3G script to boost their performance, though I don't know where the link to it is. Also I'm sure it's just something really minor that will be fixed in a hotfix.

So far really the only problems I've been having is the MMS issue while WIFI is on. The GPS issue that can be fixed with FasterFix and GPSFix (uninstall this sucker quick) from the Market. Also once in awhile my phone takes forever to load cause it gets stuck on the Android_ screen and reboots once or twice. Not all the time though just sometimes. Not sure what's causing that really. Once those issues get solved I think I should be good :)

Any suggestions Hoark on scripts or possible fixes I can do?

I'm having
the 3G slow isseue as well... was waaay faster on shabbymod. I believethe script you are refering to is 3G turbocharger, V6 supercharger, and kickass kernel tweeks.
Id suggest you read first before you use it.

Ive used it with previous ROMs and they made a big difference in speed but not this one yet. I was thinking of giving it a try as well.
Put it on your sdcard,
download script manager,
Open script manager and click on it
Option menu opens...
Check "run as root"
Click "save"
Click "run"
Follow menu to install

Oh ok i see now, but is there a tutorial on how to customize it so much?

Ok. If anyone is having issues with slow 3G speeds with this ROM I HIGHLY suggest you try the latest 3g turbocharger. It fixed all my issues. My speed now is like it was with shabbymod and stock. I posted a link above.

Edit: my signal went back to what it was before too(much higher)
I used the "fastest" option when installing

I just want to help by letting you guys know what my issues are so far to help trouble shoot.

1.) Reboots and start ups will get to the "ANDROID_" screen and then reboot about 4 or 5 times before it gets to the main boot animation. Also the main boot animation takes about 5 minutes to finish up. So my reboots are a 10 minute process :P

2.)I installed Smart Keyboard Pro and after I change my input method to Smart Keyboard it lasts about an hour or so and then reverts back to the stock keyboard and changes it to seem like I never selected to use the Smart Keyboard.

3.)My AMW Launcher FC's about 7 or 8 times in a day. I turned off "Wallpaper Hack" which says that it will help stop the FC but it lied

4.)The clock on the status bar is always showing on top of anything that runs inside my status bar. (Kind of annoying just wanted to let you know if you had a quick fix)

5.)3g animation doesn't budge for anything (Just curious if that can be quick fixed)

6.)Haptic Feedback for the hard keys don't work on press or release just on long-press. I tried changing the settings in but it they just don't respond to anything but long-press.

7.)I've also noticed that alot of the settings don't always stick. Its like it forgets what your settings are once and awhile but then it will correct itself after. Its weird I think there might be some kind of override writing issue. Idk but I'll be setting up a ubuntu system here soon to help break down some of this code (don't count on it though I'm mostly busy until I sleep :P )

That about does it for now. I've been running the mod for about a week now and it seems to be doing great.

Your adw launcher is force closing because of the v6 script... you need to run the script again and diehard your launcher
 
Hey guys noticed its been quite in here....,


I found a new issue with the launcher. if u have the app drawer open and rotate the screen the launcher will crash.

this does not happen on mine

must be some app you installed or config change you made
 
not sure about the launcher. if i rotate the screen Then open launcher its fine. but if the screen rotates with it open it crashes.

on another note, i know theres a thread here but i need some info.


does anyone have wireless tether working in AP mode. on cm7 or the phone for a fact?!?

i can get it to load, connect my computer. and see data being sent but none recieved.

The reason im wondering if Boost hasnt bocked me is b/c in AP mode my data counter sees that the phone is tethering. but in adhoc mode it dosent see that im tethering. if anyone has this working or if we could get the built in one in cm7 working it would be great!

here is a screenshot of it running in AP mode with upload data going but no download.

Mine doesnt vibrate either but i have it set not to.. go to settings> language & keyboard> android keyboard.. if this is what your using make sure the settings are set to vibrate... its the first option...

Mine worked about 5 times. I use it to connect my galaxy tab. I was gonna post a screenshot to say it works last night but when I tried I couldn't even get it to pick up a signal. Now its doing th exact same thing as yours.
