Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

I'm seriously going to be ticked off if Verizon charges me a $30 data plan for the month of June/July. I ordered mine 6/12 in store and they told me 7/9 ESD. If it's 2 day shipping, it won't be arriving until 7/13 or 7/14, and if there is even a 5 day delay, that's setting me back another week.

The best part is that I live about 10 minutes from West Chester, PA (where it left from). So far it drove past my house and went to another town about 10 mins away and then went to a town about an hour away. I'm guessing it will go back to West Chester before it comes to my house.
 
Oh Jeezus, this is like the end of one of those corny action flicks where two friends fight the entire time and in the end they end up half dead just laughing! People I found my angel and she said to me: Matt, after all the shit we put you through, your dinc you ordered on 6/3 has shipped and will arrive 6/30 by 7pm! Great gigantic balls of all things amazing, puppies! kittens! firetrucks! breasts! whiskey! beer! im so damn relieved this hell is almost over!

I hate to play the devil's advocate, but did you get a tracking number?
 
For anyone out there looking for VZW to credit your account, I can offer the following advice...

When calling into VZW looking for some sort of compensation -skip the CSR... the most I ever had a regular CSR offer was 250 promotional minutes...on an unlimited plan. Request to speak to a manager.

After reaching a manager, and letting them tell you their woes of stocking and shipping, and unexpected delays, (which will always happen) :) explain to them that regardless of what issues they might be unexpectedly having, there should still be some sort of compensation for the customer. Use the analogy of your monthly bill, which they expect to be paid on time, regardless of what unexpected issues might come up in your life.

The manager that I spoke with initially stated that the only time they would offer a customer a credit was if their service had been 'impacted'. The manager defined 'impacted' (in this case) as my phone having not shipped out by the original promise date.
When she looked up my account and realized that the original "WILL SHIP BY" was the 25th she said she would offer a one time credit of half off my monthly access charges for that line. (don't let them try to bull$hit you and tell you that your date was an estimated date...as I've posted before - their graphic says "WILL SHIP BY" and always has)

Lastly, be nice... firm, annoyed, frustrated...but NICE. CSRs and even managers are not the ones responsible for this fiasco, but they are the ones who get the dubious pleasure of dealing with it...and they are expected to discourage anyone looking for compensation due to VZW's blunder, if at all possible. As anyone in a customer service industry knows, especially in larger corporations, everything boils down to metrics... If a CSR or manager has a high amount of credits authorized by them... they'll probably be looking for a new job soon. I'm sure Verizon is fielding a lot more of these types of calls...and it wouldn't suprise me one bit if there was already an internal memo circulating around trying to deal with this issue, and discourage credits.

Hopefully this helps those of you looking for compensation from Big Red. Bottom line - wait until at least one day after your original date, possibly 2, before trying this tactic. It worked for me, and at least gave me a little comfort knowing VZW had to pay a little in return for my extended wait!
 
Why is it that Best Buy can get the phones faster than Verizon? I could have driven an hour to Best Buy and gotten the phone, if only they allowed BB to do early upgrades. Not only that, since I ordered in store, I paid an extra $100 that I do not get back until the phone arrives. This is like when you buy a pair of scissors that are in a plastic casing. You think, "If only I had a pair of scissors, I could get these darn scissors out of this packaging."

P.S. This is the conversation I am having tomorrow night with them?

Me: When will my phone ship?
VZW: Probably by July 9th, but we are seeing a 10 day delay.
Me: Well can I at least have the display one until mine comes in?
VZW: No, we need that one to convince people to buy the phone.
Me: But you can't get the phone for a month and a half anyway, so it won't make a difference. Why would you still want to sell it anyway?
VZW: We just aren't allowed to.
Me: Well can you order me one from Best Buy since they seem to get them faster than you and you don't allow them to do early upgrades?
VZW: Have a nice day sir.
 
for those that ordered on the 8th with an estimated ship date of the 29th LIVING IN THE SOUTH. I spoke with three reps and got three different answers. One said it was still scheduled to ship out tomorrow, the other one said it is scheduled to ship tomorrow but there has been a lot of sporadic shipping delays and that it could be up to ten days more of waiting, and then the other one said that it WONT be shipping out until the 4th. These guys are ridiculous, Im just crossing my fingers that I get a shipping confirmation tomorrow
 
JL, May I please get the name of the CSR you spoke to? I am debating what to do considering I have waited moderately patiently since the fifth. Seeing the 28th has come and gone and still received nothing, what should I do? Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry I didn't get the name. Call up and see what they say to you. I've had two different reps tell me this today so maybe they've all been instructed on the swap already.

I haven't got any info yet, but Verizon says to call them this Friday for a tracking number. My guess is that I probably won't get it till mid July. I've been on T-Mobile for years now and I just switched over to Verizon because I fell in love with the Dinc and the Sense UI. I just knew that I had to get it. I read these forums everyday to keep up on the news. The wait is gonna be painful.

Any other 6/18's out there?

Lets just hope that Verizon will get a huge shipment of the newly screened D.Incs and we'll get it early! Unlikely though.. :(

I want my phone, I want to call after every post and just tell them, "but I just read on androidforums that ______ was told ______ so I should be right behind them right?". lol
 
Hey gang, I'm a 6/5 and I posted earlier that I called Verizon today and mine still had not shipped. No estimate on when...could be tomorrow, or I could be among those delayed an additional five days.

I was out shopping so I stopped in a Verizon store tonight. I think their store staff is still getting up to speed on this Incredible/X swap offer but the guy was pretty helpful. As I waited, he read an email about the X and told me on the spot I could cancel my Incredible order and they would hold an X for me on the 15th.

He also said that Motorola has promised that the X would not be the debacle that the Incredible has been; they can't guarantee there won't be any backorders but the wait time will be NOTHING like that of the Incredible.

Just thought I'd pass that along. I'm going to sleep it on, do a little more homework tomorrow morning, and likely call the store tomorrow to seal the deal and order the X.

I did tell them a couple times that I was getting more consistent info from the people on the forums, including their own, than I was from CSR. One of them even said they were on a non-verizon forum too. :eek: That isn't too good when your own employees are looking for info.

I will be calling this friday to check on my 6/11 order and sadly I am not expecting good news. I'm ready for the CSRs to yell at me when I call, "The phone still hasn't shipped!!! You will be notified when it does!!!!!!!"
 
Oh - and I haven't called back yet BUT the other night when I sent an email to their executive offices.....it was apparently read by someone because I had a voice mail today from them.
 
I am thinking about getting the X. I have the Seidio 1750 battery and Steinheil screen protectors. I might be selling them if my date gets pushed back enough.

Don't do it! Personal opinion and all but motorola comes out strong but within months the phone SUCKS.
